It seems like he didn't quite settle properly in London. He was a good defender for Arsenal but not as good as he reportedly was with Villarreal. He always gave his best but he's probably better off with Valencia, where he can communicate more easily again.
Presumably this means Chambers stays. So there are enough defenders, but I can see why a combination of fragile health and age could cause some worry.

For Arsenal's sake I hope there's some more activity before the window's closed. They have plenty of players to get rid of and still need at least 1 player in my opinion. I'm surprised Wenger is not showing more urgency.

With Sanchez, Ox and maybe Ozil leaving next summer this is a big one for Wenger and Arsenal. He's holding on to them instead of selling so he has to make it count or that's £150m worth of players gone for free with no return. He'll be fecking up the next manager big time.

In my opinion, Arsenal can't go into this season with RW options of Walcott and Welbeck. Walcott in particular has done very little in his 10 years there. I'd ship him out and put in an offer for Mahrez. A bit of a risk but if he captures half the form he had for Leicester in their title winning season he'll be great for them. This forward line would be very potent:

Lacazette
Sanchez Ozil Mahrez
Dropping Ozil for a CM and going 4-3-3 with Xhaka, Ramsey and (probably) Ox in the middle when they need to hold a score.

I thought Mertesacker was pretty much done? You still look a bit short on CB's for me.
One more year and then he retires from football to manage our academy ;)

We are trying to ship out deadwoods like Jenkinson, Debuchy, Gibbs, Campbell, but it's not easy, as they earn a lot.

Inter can want him all they like. We're not in danger of losing players to Inter.
Wouldn't put it past Arsenal considering inter's best player currently makes more money than alexis and ozil...

They play 3-4-3 now. I would expect the front 3 to be Ozil and Sanchez behind Lacazette with Iwobi, Welbeck and Giroud as back up. They are some really good attacking options.

Central midfield 2 looks like Elneny and Xhaka with Ramsey as a more offensive and Coquelin as a defensive option. Bellerin, Ox and Kolasinac as wing backs. They have a big squad and need to shed some players but I don't think they need many more in.

But, allowing Sanchez, Ozil and Ox all to run their contracts down is crazy. Especially in an era where someone like Coutinho could go for over £100m and top English clubs are in for Evans and Drinkwater to fill a home grown quota.

Ozil is just a joke of a player at times. I know Wenger probably lets him get away with jogging around but as a footballer sometimes you've just got to step up on your own and he just doesn't do that.

Ozil has regressed immensely. Should never have joined arsenal and now arsenal should find a way to sell him. Used to be a top player but he is trash now.

Called it as a terrible move at the time and it's been proven right. Sanchez made the same mistake but at least he's maintained a good level of performance. Those players could have been great for us or other teams.

Did Arsenal win at Stoke last year? But generally it's a banker away defeat!

Enjoyed watching some Arsenal Fan TV just then, all of them predicting a win for Arsenal, TY super confident!
Of all the grounds to not be confident at!

He's such an embarrassing waste of talent. Gone from a key player with Real Madrid in unseating one of the great club teams ever to win the league, to being a forgotten man for Arsenal.

Without Sanchez they aren't that good, and their other so-called world class player, Ozil, is a lazy shithouse.

It will frustrate me no end if we go defensive when we play them.
We would beat them if we put them under pressure. Lightweight bunch.

They have similar problems to us and more or less the exact same ones we had under Rodgers. He didn't know how to set up a 4 at the back at all, so we stuck an extra man back there in a sweeper role and it worked wonders. But it's not a system we drilled ourselves in it was just plugging gaps there was no long term thinking centred around it . We just happened to stumble in to a system that suited the players we had and played it till we got figured out.

The problem is in a high line open system the defenders are left exposed 1vs1 more often than not, its not a system set up to help them thrive, its why the defenders have to perform to a world class standard each week, cause the minute they drop off the opposition has a sniff. Our systems are designed as multipliers for our attacking players, if you're a halfway decent attacker and you fit in with the style of play the machine can keep on turning, lose the correct combinations however and it falls flat on it's face as you've seen with our start despite no losses yet. Top class defenders need to be targeted, the next Kompany/Van Dijk, those with a unique blend of characteristics that are capable of handling playing in such systems. You cannot play an expansive attacking game the way Barca/Real/Bayern/PSG do with sub par defenders you need the very best or the ones with the right attributes. That's why the ironic effect of the teams becoming reliant on players/ Injuries comes in to play.

Bar Koscielny their defense is nonexsisting. Weak spine, weak mentality.
He's shite as well.

For the vast majority of his Arsenal career he has been nonthing player.

It says something about the standard of their other defenders when he is being held up as one of their best.

We are a club stuck on repeat. We will not move forward until Wenger buys/finds 11 Alexis Sanchez's like the old days or he resigns.

We are predictable in everything we do. The way we attack with all our players leaving the defence exposed. The way our suicidal defending costs us goals. The we we never adapt to our opposition.

We are essentially a pointless football club masquerading as one that has true ambition to win the top titles.

If we were serious about a title push, Walcott, Mertesacker, Perez, Coquelin, Elneny, Chambers and Ospina would have been out of the club straight after the last day of last season.

ssssssh you're spoiling the narrative.

Koscielny is and has always been a meme player who could've been sent off twice as many times as he has been.

Some of Danny's finishing has been absolutely comical this season so far. The last two games he's had shots off his shoulder, shin, arse the lot. Been watching with a gooner mate of mine and he can only laugh. He's such a good player but his finishing is absolutely pants.
