He is training with first team. Should be back soon.

I know he's young and has potential, but this season is make or break for him (in my opinion, anyway).

I can't see Jose hanging on to him should he not get fit and put in some consistency on the pitch this season.

Let's hope it works out for him.
When are you lots ever going to stop spouting this statement to the point of it sounding irritating?

Everything is make or break with you people, it has become such a generic thing to say around these board for some odd reason. How about coming up with something more interesting to say rather than the same old and tired "make or break" statements we keep seeing people parroting relentlessly.

Make or break in the sense that he will not make it at United, not that he won't go on to have a successful career elsewhere.

I think a lot of posters on here would agree with that opinion too. It's not like we're not supporting Luke, or want him to fail, it's just an opinion of what I/we think will happen. This is a forum after all...

Get off your high horse and start posting some quality content yourself rather than moaning, which isn't helping.

He's looking thicker and thicker. Waste of money.
Agree with "thicker n thicker":devil:

Usually how long does it take from "back in 1st team training" to Substitute/Starter ? Need him badly

I am guessing 2-3 weeks for at least playing as sub ?

Jose said Shaw and Young would play this Monday in a u23 game, which he described as their own pre season, so hopefully by the end of September they'll be in contention for a starting spot.

Will be interesting to see if he still has his speed and engine, gotta be the hardest things to maintain through his travails.

He did look brave when he came back last time, so that was a big part of rehab I'm sure. Fingers crossed.

Jose has to be bi-polar with this; he borderline bullied him last season. Its time to play good cop now - praise him, trust him, sensationalise his progress.

He's endured it, and stated he will prove him wrong; now make him feel appreciated.

When fit and in form, he's an asset and a big upgrade on Darmian and Blind.

Kinda feel like he should probably be nursed back if he isn't already. No point in rushing it but I think he'll have a huge impact on that left hand side when he returns. Especially since it looks like Jose has taken the bungee cord off his LB's.
Blind today was alongside Lukaku when he scored today and wouldn't have seen that from any fullback last year.

How did he get on in the reserves match or has it been played yet?

Playing in the reserves tonight along with Young. Will probably be another couple of weeks before he's with first team squad.
Ah nice, didn't think he was expected back until September/October time. That's good news.

Trying to work out whether that is Lindeloft or Darmian covering Lukaku for that goal there

If it's the former, I worry with what he showed in the pre-season. That's some school boy defending there.

He switched off completely and got caught ball watching

It's early days and it's just a training sesh. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt

Looks in decent shape, hopefully a few more weeks of training and u23 games and he'll be in contention to return.

Him and Young coming back is huge for us at fullback.

Did anyone watch the game? My stream kept cutting off so had to switch it off at half time. He didn't really look to have much impact in the first half that I bothered watching.

I mean, not that badly. I want him to get back asap and start showing what he can really do, but two 4-0 wins to kick off the season doesn't scream 'what on earth will we do if Luke Shaw doesn't get back soon?'

I think he'd a decent upgrade on Blind assuming he can recapture that pre-injury form. A big assumption I admit.

Oh, I agree. I just think 'need' is a bit strong given how well we've started (against shit opposition, only two games etc etc of course).

Glad to see him back. Really hope.he can kick on as I think he has shown he could grow into a strong fullback.

Sounds like Shaw and Young both got a good 60 min on the pitch for the reserves.
Anybody here check it out?

He did ok but still a week or two off from full fitness as expected. He didn't shy away from tackles and collisions which was surprising given that the Swansea played a bit like thugs tonight

Cool thanks. Yeah I read that it got a little rough. Article mentioned Young got stuck in quite a few hard tackles as well.

Does anyone have any video footage of Luke's play last night?

Both Shaw and Young did well and look sharp. Heart stopping moment when Shaw was fouled with a nasty tackle. We play Spurs on Friday so maybe another 45mins then or if not, fully expect one or both on the bench for Saturday.
