  • Gonna get slaughtered for this but Ocarina of Time: I never had Nintendo growing up, was a Playstation kid and all through primary school I heard about this amazing game and it frequently comes up in the GOAT game discussion. As I said, maybe its because i didn't grow up with Nintendo but I played it 5 years ago when I was 15 and it didn't really blow me away. It wasn't a bad game but it didn't do anything for me
I love it still but OoT was a game you probably needed to play at the time to really enjoy. That first generation of 3D console games has aged really badly.

Purely posted it to get a reaction from redlambs

I thought it was an ok game at the time but looking back it had many faults but it was a nice idea and the setting for the game was really good
I know, was just joking.

It could have been an awesome game if the investigation part hadn't been utterly broken and if you had a bit more freedom.

Officially the best poker player on RAWK.

Nah, this isn't how it is for me anyway. It very much holds up, or better yet play the 3DS versions of that and MM. Excellent.

PSX games don't really hold up in the same way because of texturing quality, but I still hook my N64 up every now and then for some 4-player Goldeneye or WWF and we have no problems getting absorbed by it.

How can you possibly hold this opinion? Genuinely amazed anyone can't not love that series it's incredible in every single way.
GTA V single player story is incredible. So much to do and fake LA still looks incredible to this day.

Not sure about the multiplayer. Too much sitting around looking at load screens.

I've always found San Andreas boring and have never been able to get into it. Also found Red Dead Redemption boring and couldn't stick with it. I loved the Undead Nightmare expansion though (which I played first).

The Fallout series
U wot m8? Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas are easily among the best RPGs ever made. We do not acknowledge Bethesda's Failout contributions as part of the series.

Btw: thumbs up for @DatIrishFella who is doing the lord's work in this thread. :p

They just nicked scenes from Michael Mann movies. Great world builders but lazy storytellers.

Funny you say this because the world building was the weakest part of GTAV for me. The sandbox was massive but most of it was empty and they re-used loads of character models (especially in shops).

I think that's harsh as don't forget this is basically a PS3 game. While it has been updated for current gen, it was not made with these consoles in mind. In that respect, I am still amazed at how good it looks.

I've not really played any recent stuff but, going back a bit, I could never understand why Sonic the Hedgehog became such a big thing - I mean, the games are fun little platformers but that's it.

At the time the graphics were fantastic - but the speed of the scrolling was the the most impressive.

Really? I think it's a tad overrated.
Yeah, it could've been really good. They concentrated on the face thing and not much else. I remember wondering where the actual gameplay was quite a few times. Tried to be clever and didn't quite pull it off imo.

At the minute - every FIFA after FIFA 10. FIFA 10 was the pinnacle of that series and the rest have never felt as much like football as it did. FIFA 12 was terrible, 13 was meh, and the ones after are just gambling sims for 13 year olds and 30 year olds with too much money and not enough sense.

I really liked assassins creed 2, but the rest were awful. Really overrated game. Although I think most felt tired of the series and didn't actually play syndicate.

Bloodborne left me a little cold. It was great for 5 or 6 hours but became repetitive. The colour palette, style and designs were initially striking but even after 10 levels the only thing that seemed to change substantially was the colour of the neon glow . The damage trading was at first interesting but once I got the hang of it I was able to brute force any of the harder bosses through button mashing and luck. It's flashy but lacked substance. Vial farming and load times yuck. Half of the 30 or so hours it took me to complete the game were quite irritating.

I wouldn't call it overrated and I understand that others enjoy a more exciting, faster paced game but there was none of the satisfaction, sense of triumph or variety that the Souls games give me.

Another with so much potential. If only developers did more than just rush out the bare bones of a game. Had real potential for depth in the cities, and watered down (but not too much) RPG elements.

Nah, calling it for '11. Ironed out kinks with the 360 dribbling. Felt a lot snappier. Online was a joy too. Being a keeper on clubs was great as well. Actually felt like a skill test, they perfected it with their first go and made it worse in every iteration since.

I thought GTA San Andreas was a big let down.
I agree, it was still cool, but it didn't really come close to Vice City in my mind. Maybe it was the setting or the story or something but never liked it or played it as much as Vice City.

Vice City was small but perfectly formed. San Andreas was massive with a lot of rough edges. I preferred the latter myself but I can see why people would prefer Vice City.

Yeah Vice City was great. Was a massive improvement on the previous GTA with buying businesses and all that. Great soundtrack too!

Vice City

Arguably the best in the series. Great soundtrack, great style, fantastic atmosphere and an amazing assortment of characters. Hasn't particularly aged well, but i got great memories playing that.

IMO:
San Andreas > GTA III > Vice City

Never really liked Vice City. San Andreas has the best radio, map/roads, cars and CJ is great.
