Yeah and when he's throwing the players under the bus then you'd moan why is he doing that. He can't win.
Yes they are the only two possible things a manager can do in the post match interview. Definitely no in between option.

I'd say he's doing a decent job so far. If he has us comfortably in the top 4 and performing well in europe/cup then I think he deserves a 3rd season. If we are back in 5th/6th place again scrambling for CL football then sack him at the end of the season.
The noisy neighbor really doesn't do him a favor. They're playing beautiful attacking football, might win the league, while having a relatively younger team.

Time and tide wait for no man.

Problem is or one of the problems is that Mickhi is completely out of form. And he's our nr. 10.
Yeah because he's a fecking RM. I dont justify for his bad form and lazyness but at least try him on the right Jose. Dont understand the way he used Micki. His skillset is for wide player role. He is absolutely shit at dictatingg the ball and control the game from 10 spot. Klopp saw this, Tuchel saw this so they moved him to the right flank and he shined.

After just one good game lasst season vs Leicester at 10 Jose started to use him at 10 and he became useless. Yes he's been garbage and deserved the criticism but for feck sake just try him at RM. That's the only way we can make him better.

They also have a blank cheque, Guardiola wanted 3 full backs, a goalkeeper and backup in midfield and he got them no problem. Could the Man Utd manager buy a goalkeeper and striker and then buy a replacement for them the year after he buys them? No. Kyle Walker is probably not worth £50m, but they paid the money. We didnt want to pay up for Perisic. I would also wager that replacing Ibra also limited our transfer dealings.

Pep Guardiola with an unlimited budget is a force, his tactics are at their strongest when he has the best team on the pitch.

How much had Mendy really contributed? Or Danilo? Like us pep has spent a lot but people are missing the fact that the entire team is playing superb football across the board. We can't complain about spending after spending 150 million every summer whether it's Lvg or Jose doing the spending.

He has 2 attacking mid with the passing range movement and good control , how many do we have? Pogba and he's out too with injury.

We keep on counting 150 m and forget the major chunk of that has gone on to buying pogba and lukaku itself and out of which one is out and other is lacking any kind of service.

The problem lies with transition too, the whole team is lethargic in transition from defense to attack and side to side, which comes from lack of work rate and low energy players spread all round the park.

We spent 150m, City paid 200m. A mere 50m difference, that would go to Perisic, another journeyman 28 y.o. winger, if we went with Mou's plan. Do you think we would change from Pulis Stoke to attacking team, just because of Perisic?

I won't fully blame Mourinho for yesterday's performance. However, he needs to try to develop more players so that we have more options in midfield, wings etc.

He needs to stop picking Matic,Mkhi,Herrera as our midfield combination for the umpteenth time as playing them again and again wont' suddenly make them great. They don't play well together. They never will and we have seen it from the performances. We lost against Huddersfield, struggled against Benfica, won against Tottenham when De Gea bypassed this midfield and went straight to Lukaku and have just lost to Chelsea.

What can he do? He needs to pick a few players from the youth setup. Not an assuring idea but that is his only hope. He needs to then develop these players by playing them whenever we are a few goals up, or have an easy league cup tie, or in matches like the coming Champions League ones. All he is doing is playing Martial and Lingard in such matches and one or two defenders are rotated. Martial needs to be in the starting line up and Lingard is just Lingard.

He has shown signs of doing this with McTominay. He needs to do it with atleast one more player. I have accepted that we won't be that great as shown by our form in the beginning matches. We just don't have the players to keep playing that well. However, if Mourinho gets lucky with a young player then we might just be able to pull something off.

We are in the same situation Van Gaal found himself in, in his last season here. He had sold a lot of players and found himself without options. Mourinho is in a similar situation. Transfer activity was very inadequate and we find ourselves desperately short of options. He has to take a risk with some youth. We can't depend on Pogba to stay fit for the entire season and play rubbish when he is not there.

Still 2nd in the league, top of CL group. Injured players coming back.

No need to get the knives out yet. I like him, but he should stop angling for a payrise or hinting about future moves to PSG until he sorts us out fully.

When we hired Jose, I was so happy. Mainly because I thought we'd be very deadly on the counter. His teams were always defence first, but his Madrid side was a counter attacking beast and an absolute joy to watch.

Now, we are there in terms of defence. We are very well organised and rarely let the opposition have chances. However there is no semblance of a counter attacking. Instead we just hoof the ball up and hope for the best. This is what has disappointed me the most. These days we are playing like a rich man's Stoke.

Heard that he wants a pay rise to extend his contract.

I'm not for sacking him right away.

I think that he has to improve our playing quality but after having played Chelsea, Spurs, Pool we are second only to an impressive Chitteh side.

We have to improve massively when the League returns and prove that we can play football.

I think that with a bit of luck we can go through the quarter final of CL, and if we finish second in the League it will be ok.

We started from 7th for Moyes, so going in CL quarter and finishing second won't be that bad.

The issue is the style.

And then he'll be judged (and sack) in his third year.

I think we'll be alright once we get Pogba and Ibra back.

Only criticism I have of Jose right now is he keeps playing Mikhtaryan who's been absolute dogshite and is resulting in our attacking play being so poor.

This is true especially for the hopeless left back and right wing positions because without a transfer window to help us we are really screwed if we don't develop alternatives for the problematic positions. The problem is Mourinho he can't trust a young player but will for the umpteenth time give the likes of Mkhi chances to stink up the place but it would be acceptable if it was a younger player because you would know there is room for development like Fletcher did a decade ago.

We are supposed to have another one, one that Mourinho signed and keeps playing. He's also dogshite right now and has been for a while.

Firstly, our outlay was on 3 players while City used it on 5 players. Their signings were to compliment the core of the team while ours were to rebuild the core of the team. We have had to get completely new central midfield and replace a striker because he got a freak injury. In reality we only added one player to the starting 11 and that was Matic (who has been our best player this season IMO).

Secondly, we will never be an attacking team under this manager, what we will be is a team that is very good at counter-attacking. Our play at the start of the season when we were beating every other team 4-0 wasnt attacking play, it was solid defending and counter attacking; we got the first goal and then punished teams on the counter attack.

Just reading an article and they posted the updated version of his away record in the big games:

26/04/15: Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

29/11/15: Spurs 0-0 Chelsea
17/10/16: Liverpool 0-0 Manchester United
23/10/16: Chelsea 4-0 Manchester United
27/04/17: Manchester City 0-0 Manchester United
07/05/17: Arsenal 2-0 Manchester United
14/05/17: Tottenham 2-0 Manchester United

We've managed just 13 shots on target since he's taken over the United job in these games.

Im with you on this one. However, I also think the competitiveness in Martial VS Rashford makes both players perform more. The other alternative Mata, has not had much end-product this season neither :( He might be overplaying Lukaku a bit too in small cup-games.

It's totally inexcusable for a squad this expensive to play the defensive nonsense Mourinho comes up with. Let's face it, the man's tactics are now obsolete
Agreed. Just tossing away points with mindless negativity doesn't work anymore, there are too many other good teams.

So who is this academy-player he should play that will put Mkhi on his toes, and maybe up our game?

This is quite a very sensitive post which I agree most. We all know our squad lacks quality depth, mainoly when compared to Chelsea or Man City. You just need to look at the paper to realise that. How many of our players would start at Man City or Chelsea? Yesterday was an even better example: they had a solid rock double-pivot midfield, with Bakayoko and Kante, while Fabregas and Hazard are very creative players.
And they actually have an estabilished defense, while we are still searching for our best options.

The best squad won yesterday. Not really a tactical problem.

People keep harping on about personnel. But Jose's key buys for the 3 attackers behind the CF were supposed to be Mkhitarian and Perisic. Those were the guys he believed were the ones that would take him to the title. So all this nonsense about needing world class attackers etc. At least see the players who were Jose's picks. One of them has no right to start ahead of Martial but Jose keeps picking him for some reason.

And that's aside from the fact that the Glazers are backing him with huge funds as they did previous managers, so funds shouldn't be a problem.

I've had it with Mourinho's cowardly approach away from home against the good teams. This is Manchester United. We should be be taking the game to the opponent no matter who or where we play. I'm thinking Mourinho's gonna get the sack at the end of the season if he doesn't win an important trophy this season. If that happens I want ancelloti to take over. At least he has a style of play.

Good the club doesn't want to overpay for okay players who would then be torn apart by the caf for being average. Rather Martial and Rashford get gametime than anothe Mkhi.

Sure, but people shouldn't say that there are unlimited funds or that United are equal to City in terms of spending.

I didn't say there were unlimited funds. I was saying he's being given enough. City have spent a little more and both clubs are in a great position (financially) to win big trophies.

Agreed.

I just don’t know why LVG was given so much stick for the same excuses if we’re going to give Mourinho a by-ball until he brings in “genuine quality”. Whatever the hell that means.

LVG needs Robben, Bale, Ronaldo, Muller to pull off his system. What a shite manager, he needs to do better with what he has!

Why are we changing the goal posts for Mourinho? Of course transfers matter but he’s had tons of cash to address his key problems.

As always, the fact is, worse teams than United (personnel wise) play better football and can get more shots on target against the better teams in the league. That’s a legit criticism.

I’ve stopped caring what City are doing. I find us tedious to watch. That’s nothing to do with our Manchester rivals.

I know - my comment about Perisic wasn't to you, you just replied to that comment.

Tbf, I wouldn't call around 100m "a little more" - but I don't completely disagree. United are, of course, in a brilliant position financially.

100 mil is about 2,5 good full backs in this market. Spending this money on a RB and LB would improve us massively.
