If Lukaku had that game everyone here would be ripping into him demanding his sale. Chelsea should have won today and they didn't because of him.

Way to go! Bash your own!
So let me get this right it's good Morata made chances for himself.

And missed them?
He was given 4 chances today and 3 were one on one. Cannot excuse that.

Not at all. He's on 12 goals at the half way mark in fairly limited playing time.
26 appearances for him across all competitions this season, hardly limited playing time ffs.

Well everyone here is ripping into him. And if this was a Chelsea forum, I am sure few would be knee jerking into selling him as well.

His finishing was always poor for a top striker. There is a reason why he was never the first choice when he was at Real or Juve. A striker who can't finish

I thought he was meant to be clinical at Madrid. Clearly I was wrong and it seems the only way he can score is from Azpilicueta's crosses.

What a shocking performance; did very little to hold up the ball and missed 3 1v1s. I thought Morata was supposed to be a big game player but he cost Cheslea the game.

Ignore the appearanes and look at the minutes played. He has significantly less minutes than the likes of Lukaku and Kane.

And to make it even more funny Diego Costa scored in his debut today after 5 minutes in the pitch.

If Lukaku missed those chances there would be riots. Pathetic finishing and has the tendency to fall down on the slightest contact.

Clown defending from Arsenal players. Pretty much open the the gate for Morata
The white Wele

Indeed. Safe to say they have both underperformed somewhat this year.
Morata is known to have this kind of misses just as Lukaku is known for being underwhelming when being involved in build up. They may underperform in some games when it comes to their strong points. However, these just are typical their problem we already discussed back then.

Beside the misses, overall, you can see Morata is plenty good in movement (especially outside the box, timing run, when to drop deep when to get to the end of cross...), which is one of his strong point.

Diego Costa is twice the striker Morata is. Genuine world class old fashioned no.9. Sublime hold-up play and lethal goalscorer.

Kane has scored twice as goals (24 to be precise) as Morata after playing 350 minutes more, also iirc you were predicting him reaching elite status before season began. Hence the comparison with Kane.

He isn't really. Costa never knocked in more than 20 league goals which is exactly where Morata is heading this year. He had a bad game and is off form, which happens.

Could somebody please post all of the misses from this match? Haven't watched it and sounds like a lot of fun.

How many chances did Lukaku make for himself away to Arsenal? You are talking about a guy with like three goals in 13 league games, averaging less than 20 goals in the league if he continues like this.
Lol. Lukaku was heavily involved in two of our goals against Arsenal and played really well. This Morata performance is up there with the worst striker's performance I've seen in the last few years. Atrocious

I told some Chelsea fans months ago that Diego Costa and Matic are better than the players they were buying and they started calling me names:lol:

Never said he is better than Kane. Just that he hasn't played nearly the same amount of minutes as other strikers like Kane and Lukaku. His goals to minutes ratio is still far better than Lukaku's this year.

I don't really think he wants to stay in England. Nothing in his body language suggests he is in this for the long run. Likely go back to Spain in the summer.

Lukaku has as many goals and actually more assists

I'd take Lukaku over Morata still. If you look at it from the manager's point of view, I've never seen Jose so frustrated with Rom, as Conte with Morata tonight.
I'm sure both managers are frustrated with both strikers at the moment. Conte is probably a bit more visceral about it, where as Jose seems to prefer deflecting it to avoid heaping more pressure on Rom.

Lukaku v Morata, the striker position is at a low ebb if they are the 2 best candidates available.

Perhaps all the strikers are just playing wide forward in this era.

I used the word 'lethal' for a reason. Diego Costa (a bit like Drogba) always pops up with a goal when you need him to.

I would take Costa over Morata (and Lukaku in case someone thinks i'm being biased) because he does more for the team and scores important goals.

Costa has been instrumental in two title winning teams with classical counter attacking managers. He is a premium no.9. Far above the level of Morata.

Anyone but Rashford
Some utter gash in this thread. Morata's ability to take a ball deep with his back to goal and immediately turn is pretty incredible, but that was a shocking performance - He's a good player and people will overreact, he's always been liable for these sorts of misses every so often. He nearly matched our collective feck ups against Leicester. Nearly.
