Your muppetry levels are quite high imho.

Like I said, José said United don’t expect to sign players in the Jan window but are open to others. He did not say this “directly” about Sanchez as it was a generic response to deflect away from talking about Alexis specifically which he clearly did not want to do / breach confidentiality of another clubs player. AKA it was neither a yes or a no but can be interpreted (misinterpreted) from either end of the spectrum to fit a certain narrative - case in point which I ironically & sarcastically did so in my last post which you took literally.

...and yea if you still can’t grasp that then sorry as this is my last response to you
Geez, get of your high horse. Acting like you have some magical grasp on sarcasm. And so convenient for you to blame irony and sarcasm when you get called out on your response.

My muppetry level ain't even that high from this yet. I'm actually quite surprised at Mourinho's response as it is, going by Mourinho's history on the subject, sounds like him confirming the interest. It's not some cryptic message from Mou to mess with muppets, it's actually his modus operandi.

The thing with Mourinho is that he is very clever in wording his response. He does try to portray himself like someone that doesn't talk about other club's players when he actually doesn't have any problems doing it if he's interested in the player. It's on par with the classic "I'm not trying to offend you but [insert words that offend the recipient]".

Off to watch some YouTube compilations. Should get a better idea of how he will fit in.

We're Manchester United for goodness sake mate, we're the club with the biggest profile in the world. We're on the up, he'll walk in as our star man, Number 7 probably, and play a key role.

Go to City, and he may well have to rotate, won't get anywhere near the same focus, and them winning the league won't go down as being down to him to any great amount.

Playing under Pep before doesn't mean it went great there.

It would be a shock obviously, but that's because it's seemed such a massive given since the summer, and we didn't even attempt (we think) to get involved at that high fee then
This, a hundred times yes.

People need to calm down a bit I believe. Don't let your muppet grade go high to avoid any possible shock. :D All these talks about formation and how he'll fit in seems illogical at the moment.

Sanchez on top form is without any doubt, one of the top 5 attackers in the league. Hazard, Aguero, Sanchez, Kane, Salah arguably. How often do you sign that level of player from a rival?

We lack that level of special in our front 4.

It's exciting.
Fair enough. Personally I don't rate him as highly as you do.

It was quite a funny set of comments.

Along the lines of , "obviously his girlfriend is gorgeous, and we'd all love to be with her, but I wouldn't dream of talking about another man's woman. That's out of order. But if she was available, i'd be all over it"

In my opinion Sanchez in top form is top 5 in the world.

I would honestly take him over any other player in England.

Kane is better than Lukaku, but that would bench Lukaku.
Sanchez would be a huge upgrade on whoever we play right side, and if we're honest, left side too!

Imagine if we sign him and he scores the winner to knock city out of the CL / FA Cup.

I would take Kane over him but as a wide player, there is not much better than Sanchez in the world.
I would wonder if changing Lukaku to Kane would make us a significantly better team though.

We need more magic behind whoever the front man is.

Gotta say 24 /36 hours ago I thought there was no chance of this happening.
But given mourinho's comments today it seems pretty clear that he would like to get him .
I hope this doesn't blow up in our face would rather we said nothing if we can't get him , would be awful to make it clear we want him and then see City sign him .
Pressure all on Woodward now
Let's keep fingers crossed because he is a class act and regardless of wages would be a bargain

Given the money we give to some absolute plebs like Mkhitaryan, wages shouldn't even be a consideration.

Mmhmm. Part of me feels the romance of this doesn't apply to players of Alexis' stature though. Fair enough younger up and coming players, but the guy has played for Barca and done very well there. He's an established top international now aged 29. Perhaps I'm being overly cynical, and I have had/having a shit day at work, but I always get the impression from him that he's just wanting to win some trophies (that aren't the FA cup) before he starts the inevitable decline, and City would be an easy route for this. Earn loads of cash, get some trophies under the belt, jobsagoodun.

Of course I'd love for him to join, but this is so random that my mind hasn't fully come to terms with it. I'm still expecting him to go to City.

I agree, I alluded to this in my post. No idea if he has any sort of relationship with mourinho though.

I'm just grumpy today. I have to work the weekend and I'll miss the City v Liverpool game. Sorry

Do you think any of our front 4 are better than him?
Which other players in the league would you rate higher?
My main issue with him is how individualistic and selfish he can be. He has exceptional talent but he plays for Sanchez first and the team second.

If I was building a team, keyword team, I would take more than a few players ahead of him.

Aguero
Silva
De Bruyne
Hazard
Kane
Pogba
Salah
Coutinho 2 weeks ago.

I might even take Ozil ahead of him, for the key reason that I think he is more likely to help improve the other players. Sanchez is in isolation the better player but it comes back to that concern over his mentality. Of course if he signs I hope to be wrong and that my issues with him are just a symptom of being part of that car crash at Arsenal.
