Tbf, the Lukaku signing came out of nowhere as did Falcao. Lukaku wasn't even really considered a target, a few rumblings in the press and deal was agreed a day or two after. Falcao was a deadline day surprise that barely anybody knew about until it happened.
The Bailly signing was out of no where. Same with the Matic signing (in a way). If I recall well, Zlatan was also relatively sudden.

Regardless of whether we have offered Mkhi or not, Arsenal have ear-marked a replacement for Sanchez (Malcolm?) and won't sell until they land that replacement. I can see this stretching to the last week of January.
Good observation.
But we have also been linked with Malcolm. I won't be surprised if we have told Arsenal, we can pull out of chasing Malcolm if they give us Alexis. There is also the Mikhitaryan carrot we are probably dangling. That will give Arsenal a free run at Malcolm. It may also explain the Lucas Mouras rumours.

Well Pep has magically found a way to get a ligament injury recovered in less than a month, but that’s for a different forum I suppose...
Mcl wasn't it...
Depends on the severity
https://www.ucsfhealth.org/conditions/mcl_tear/treatment.html
Though initial reports seemed to suggest 2 months... So on that basis it's a bit of a surprise but let's be honest it's probably missing reporting of the severity that caused the surprise...

Still I suspect at some point this season one of Aguero or jesus will be injured and they will have no real striker options on the bench when they need one and we will see kdb or Stirling in a makeshift role up top... Unless they do buy sanchez

Has Luckhurst ever been ahead of the game on anything transfer related? Just seems to post stuff with a 747s worth of wiggle room.

Had a look at Arsenal Mania today and its amazing how some actually believe we'd be willing to send Martial in the opposite direction

Some even suggest that Martial would like to play in their system because they'll make him a better player

Oh Arsenal... never change

Is Mkhitaryan willing to go to Arsenal though? Wouldn’t it be a step down from both United and Dortmund? Are they willing to pay his wages? I doubt that we’ll see him go the other way if the transfer takes place.
Arsenal aren't a step down from Dortmund, about equal club size.

I think Mkhi would jump at the chance to go in fairness. He knows the manager doesn't trust him.

I’d think twice thrice ten times about going to the current Arsenal, especially after losing Sanchez and probably Özil too. Considering the current state, I think Arsenal would be a step down from Dortmund even though Arsenal is arguably a bigger club.

What about Mkhitaryan? He would be a great replacement, a really good player in the right circumstances.
The whispers were we were in for Mkhi the summer you got him and if it was up to me I'd definitely sign. We wanted an exchange for Alexis from City in the summer too. The manager/board may look at the wages/age and not fancy it, depending on fee though I'd guess. Definitely a player in there though that hasn't quite blossomed at United the way I thought he could. Although he's done reasonably well all the same and he'd add quality and playmaking we lack outside of Ozil and Wilshere who both might be off.

In my opinion this is all being held up Arsenal who NEED a replacement, they are resigned to losing Sanchez. United will not have made any offer to Arsenal until they give there go ahead to Sanchez agent after signing a replacement. It’s all about Arsenal right now. Sanchez and his agent have already made there decision. Pep or Money.
You think that's all United have to offer?

He will be on the same wages as Sanchez is currently on. arsenal is his boyhood club and his sisters favorite team, they wanted him before we get to him first. And Let’s be fair, arsenal is much bigger club than Bvb. Arsenal is on tv all time and recognized worldwide. I don’t see it as a step down at all.

It’s perhaps a step down in regards to the current level of the two teams, not in terms of club size. What I’m saying is that the chance of winning trophies in the near future seems to be higher at Dortmund than at Arsenal without Sanchez and Özil. Also, why would Arsenal pay Mkhitaryan the same wages as Sanchez?

Why would City refusing to do anything make us think "oh yeah good one city, let's both hard ball him"

Mourinho gave away enough to know we're serious about him, Di Marzio clearly got wind of some info that was meant to be secret.

There's still a way to go but Sanchez will be leaving this window IMO.

Mourinho wouldn't have said that if there wasn't a serious chance he's considering our offer. Who knows what's going on behind the scenes, but I think it's a lot closer than some might think between us and city.

I am such a transfer muppet.

Even though I don't actually think we'll sign Sanchez, I can't help but constantly refresh this page in the hope I'm proven wrong.

Robbie on Arsenal Fan Tv was talking about getting Martial in too

To be fair he said he thought it was unlikely but why even bring it up? There is absolutely no chance it would happen. They're so deluded.

Sanchez is the player I wanted most in this window, I even posted as much a few weeks ago. That said, I'd not part with Martial even if it was a deal-breaker.

Martial has been very good this season and is only going to get better

In a world where prospects go for 70 plus Mil they think we'd be willing to give them Martial plus cash. The 'plus cash' part really does add insult to the already gaping wound of thinking we'd give him up for a 29 yr old on an expiring.

Maybe they are still living in last season when he was sitting on the bench and don't know he's a main starter now!

Thats just Arsenal fans wishful thinking. They know if they ask for martial, the deal will be dead and it is in their interest to sell him and get a replacement now instead of losing him for nothing next summer or sell him for peanuts to City now

Pretty sure we would end up subsidising his wages in some way through any deal.

This isn't really the type of deal I'm excited about. A player just leaving his prime, joining a club he doesn't really want to be at, in a situation where we have to pay significantly more wages than a club that will spend 50m on walker or 42m on mangala. Feels like more short termism. Would prefer by a million miles that we took those resources and started building the team for the longer run, signings like pogba and martial. I'm not really happy comparing this to Matic deal either... it is a bit more like di maria where psg couldn't get him
