the only thing that gives me any hope in this is that City walked away from VVD when the price went up

City have done the groundwork, the player wants City, he's worked with Pep.....I'd still say his most likely destination is there

The whispers were we were in for Mkhi the summer you got him and if it was up to me I'd definitely sign. We wanted an exchange for Alexis from City in the summer too. The manager/board may look at the wages/age and not fancy it, depending on fee though I'd guess. Definitely a player in there though that hasn't quite blossomed at United the way I thought he could. Although he's done reasonably well all the same and he'd add quality and playmaking we lack outside of Ozil and Wilshere who both might be off.
Really think Mkhi would do better in your system. I'd be sad to see him go, you can tell he's a good player, but if we could include him in the deal for Sanchez, both parties should be happy.

This isn't really the type of deal I'm excited about. A player just leaving his prime, joining a club he doesn't really want to be at, in a situation where we have to pay significantly more wages than a club that will spend 50m on walker or 42m on mangala. Feels like more short termism. Would prefer by a million miles that we took those resources and started building the team for the longer run, signings like pogba and martial. I'm not really happy comparing this to Matic deal either... it is a bit more like di maria where psg couldn't get him
That's one way to look at this. Another is to see this as one of the best players in the league, him leaving weakens Arsenal, were he to choose us over City it narrows the gap as opposed to expanding, we'd have one more world class player and more balance in the team, and we'd be nearer to where we want to be, signing major players and being seriously competitive against big teams.

keep in mind, Di Marzio has been saying all along that Sanchez prefers united's offer. Both now and eventually for June

Arsenal Update (Putting this here as a replacement is going to need to be done first to flog Alexis)

Alexis/Walcott Replacement (who knows...)

Arsènic™@MrArsenicTM

An #AFC bid for Malcom is expected soon according to @JBurtTelegraph

Arsènic™@MrArsenicTM

#LRTs: Agents owning the remaining half of Malcom rights were pictured in London last night.

Arsènic™@MrArsenicTM

#LRT: Malcom’s agent posted that pic on his page on Facebook today.

Agent/3rd Party Owners

As an Arsenal fan I hope you get him. City have tried to be bully boys be tapping him up, waiting until deadline day to bid and not letting us get a replacement finalised and then offering only 20m this window because 'he only wants them'. Right let's guess they'd offered him the most money at that stage.
I've got a soft spot for arsenal. I reckon if you can swap Walcott and Sanchez for Malcom and Mikhtayran you've had a very good January.

That's a replay of Luckhurst on a guy in his previous tweet. Sorry but it's easy to see he knows feck all. Amazing that he said he's desperate to move this month just after saying in the line above that he can price himself out by sticking at Arsenal for the rest of the season.

Brilliantly opening all possible scenarios so that he'll be right at the end no matter what, nice job, Samuel!

Maybe they are still living in last season when he was sitting on the bench and don't know he's a main starter now!
You mad bruv, he knows Arsenal are still a world class team a player short from challenging. You get me fam?

"Could easily see him going to either Manchester club or pricing himself out and being stuck at Arsenal".

Now that is cutting edge journalism.

Oh did he? I was thinking if we didn't get him in this month, then he is going to City for sure in June.. Considering all the City have a limit and the money or Pep statements..

He knows absolutely nothing, I've been commenting on him quite a lot this week and it's all been negative (I don't have an axe to grind with him by the way) he's just a sit on the fence, click bait journalist.

I just want to make two points:

1. Jose would never enter a race to sign a player without knowing ahead that he has a chance with signing the said player. So knowing that Alexis was hell bent to join Man City, he would never consider him as a target, fact. So, there is a good chance that we might sign him.

2. There is of course another way to look things, Jose just wants to piss off Pep by entering in a bidding war that will cost Man City more money, and nothing will please him more.

Wenger has said alexis is now likely to leave-

Admitting for the first time that Sanchez’s departure is inevitable, whether this month or in the summer, Wenger sounded more positive about his two other stars with six months left. He claimed he is increasingly optimistic of reaching a deal with Ozil, if they can agree a salary, and also wants to tie down the fit-again Jack Wilshere to the club.If Ozil and Wilshere can be secured then Wenger hopes that “the rebuild will be less deep”, and it will not be so hard to launch the club’s 2018-19 Premier League challenge, a job that Wenger is already relishing.
For months Wenger has been insisting that Sanchez is open to staying, or could be persuaded to, but on Friday morning he admitted for the first time that will not be happen. “It looks like Sanchez will not extend his contract,” Wenger admitted. Which means he will either be sold to Manchester City or perhaps Manchester United this month, or go for nothing in the summer.

yep, that's actually on par with poor posts on here based on pure speculation. Which means he has as much of a clue as some random kid posting on this forum. How can someone earn a living from this??

If we actually manage to sign him you can bet Pogba and DDG will be in Woody's office demanding a salary hike asap.

Would that be a problem? If Dave would do that, we'd be extending his contract. Wouldn't have a problem with world class players wanting salary parity.

What’s going on in my head right now is that it makes more sense from a playing perspective to have Sanchez at United as at City he will be rotated and he doesn’t like that. He clearly thrives off being the main man. We would also offer a very good salary and the big thing for me is Mourinho wouldn’t have made the phenomenal comment for no reason...

I still can’t feel too excited though as (if we are being brutally honest) if Sanchez wants to move for silverware and footballing reasons then City is the better option.

So essentially Sanchez has to decide between:

United
Playing time
Wages

City
PL Medal (and currently highest chance of future medals)
Wages
Better football

So it really boils down to what kind or role Sanchez wants in his final peak years.

Sanchez played what, 40 games or so under the messiah.. The wanker Pep Guardiola is my idol. The way people go on you’d think he was brought through from a toddler and played 20 years or so for the bloke.

Not a problem no, but it will set a presedent.

That being said I'd gladly see us paying those two 400k\week to make sure they stay for the remainder of their careers.

Regarding the second point. Professional football clubs handle rationally, not emotionally. Even though Wenger dislikes Mourinho personally, it doesn’t really affect the transfer, most likely. Man United would never bid for a player in an attempt to raise the price for a rival and piss off their manager. That would be quite childish and very unprofessional, not to mention counter-productive as fans would be pissed off when their club doesn’t get the player they’ve bid for, especially when he goes to a direct rival.

he's essentially posting nothing tweets to make himself look like a "player" in the story. He's said absolutely nothing in his last 2 tweets posted here.

I had a dream last night that this all ends with Sanchez signing a pre contract agreement with Citys MLS side.

Is Mkhitaryan willing to go to Arsenal though? Wouldn’t it be a step down from both United and Dortmund? Are they willing to pay his wages? I doubt that we’ll see him go the other way if the transfer takes place.
1. If Alexis or another comes he won't be a regular starter at United he will be at Arsenal and he'll be a key player
2. He's talked about as surplus to requirements
2. Dortmund probably can't afford his wages.

Can someone tell me where the "Sanchez wants to play for Pep" bit has come from?

I cant find any source for it..
When he was linked to City last summer and I read it for the first time, I just assumed it was the standard bs line to justify a move to a premier league rival (and city were rivals last season, just 3 points ahead of Arsenal).

Now its being treated like some factual statement and is being reported like Sanchez has been desperate to play for Pep all his life and now that he has the chance, he is getting tempted my Money United.

From the media briefing which blatantly came from the blue side last night.

Why? From everything I have read Pogba and Lukaku are already on 250k+ & DeGea is on 200k+. Sanchez salary at City, if he signs, has been mentioned at 250k. I don't see why it will create an issue.

Pretty sure we would end up subsidising his wages in some way through any deal.
Nah I can't see you subsidising Arsenal's inflated wage bill. I could possibly see you letting us have him on a free to get him off your wage bill while bringing Sanchez in. But only in January, Mkhi will go elsewhere otherwise.
