Wholeheartedly agree but it proves that this 'boyhood dream' stuff is always a load of shite and nobody should ever pay attention to it.
Just like no one should pay attention to him wanting to move to city for his special relationship with Pep or to us just for the money, which was the reason I brought it up in the first place a few pages back.

If it's your dream move to play at OT for United then it's not understandable why you'd choose another team twice when you've got the opportunity to go to where your dream is.

It's absolute rubbish.
We weren't in for him the second time and had just finished 7th. We weren't exactly a desirable option after Moyes... Plus he wanted to play in the CL right away but have a key role there as why we didn't have a chance.

For the first time, it was between United and Barcelona in summer 2011. Barca had just wrecked us in the Champions league final in what was probably the best side ever, United's squad was looking more in need of a rebuild pretty soon. He probably wasn't a die hard United supporter, but I do remember reading stuff about him liking United when he was younger. Doesn't mean he'd pick us over what was looking like the potential best side ever.

Still can't see this one happening. Would be an absolutely amazing signing if it did, though.

In fact, I stated in the summer that we should do whatever we could to try and sign Sanchez, and couldn't for the life of me understand why we apparently weren't in the mix for him. He's a much better signing than Griezmann.

Here's to hoping!

Fairly sure he was adamant that Griezmann was coming in the summer.
Griezmann was by all accounts, all but done, but then the announcement that Atletico Madrid would have their transfer ban upheld meant that Griezmann did a U-turn and decided not to leave them unable to replace him, and he'd just transfer the next season. Fair, it happens, but unfortunate for us as now Barca wants him when they weren't interested initially.

I've tried not to get drawn into this transfer saga but it's becoming too much for me! We need to sign him whatever it takes! A player of his caliber and quality would normally cost 100 million in today's market so he is worth every penny we pay right now.

Let’s hope there are some trained councillors in these forums because when it’s announced he’s signed for City it’ll be like Jonestown in here.

Were we even in for him when he went to Arsenal? I don't remember any serious links though I could and probably am mistaken.

Wenger after the game:

"He's being vague at the moment. The situation is not completely decided one way or the other, so I left him at home," said boss Arsene Wenger.

Asked if a decision was imminent, Wenger said: "Yes. Don't read too much in it because even I don't know which way it will go."

City are unwilling to match the Gunners' £35m asking price, while United boss Jose Mourinho said on Friday that Sanchez is a "phenomenal player".

He added: "What we believe is there are some players in the football world, if you have the chance to sign them in January, March or July, you have to try. And that's it."

Would much rather us go after Griezmann
what if he prefers to stay in Spain?

- Griezmann didn't move to OT last summer and by all accounts seems to love Spain. Barca could be in for him too
- there's no guarantee that Dybala would move to OT either, it'd probably be a difficult and very expensive transfer to pull off
- Bale is injury-prone and dealing with Real has been an pain in the behind for a long time

signing Sanchez if the opportunity is there is smart. Knows the league, low fee because of the contract situation, not cup-tied, can play multiple positions. It's a no-brainer.

This tells you a story, of who is the biggest club, and they should never forget it.

City created Twitter account earlier 4 years before United in 2012

Yeah that all may be the case, but the bottom line is if I remember correctly, Keys was talking like it was a certainty and the deal would happen and it simply didn't. I can't really comment on his reliability as a whole, but him getting Griezmann wrong, but Pogba right springs to mind.

disagree on the no brainer, lower fee normally just equals higher wages and bigger contracts, and with a player who is 30 this year, quite reliant on pace whose rummored to be disruptive at times when we already have two young players fighting for the position he would play who will defintly have their game time stunted buy this signing. personally think their is quite a big risk involved

Is there any chance at all that it'll be announced officially today? Or even reports about him heading for a medical?
