Alexis Sanchez | Done deal

Carragher is saying the there was a deal that Sanchez has shook hand on but he pulled out.
This was in a debate on Sky with Neville.
CARRA: It's not about money. It might be for Sanchez but not for City. They're not bothered about an extra £30m, what's that to City? It's absolutely nothing. It's the fact the man, I would say, has given his word that he's going to go to City.

He's probably shook hands on a deal. They tried to get him in the summer but Arsenal pulled out of it. I'm sure they've been talking all the way through, saying we'll get you when the window re-opens. Manchester United have come from nowhere and offered more money. That's not a criticism of United, maybe they have to pay more money at this moment in time than City to get players.

However, it looks like he's backed out of a deal and that's why City have backed away from the deal not because of £30m. You're the owner of Salford and if you were in Manchester City's position and a player did that, I think you'd walk away. Or would you say we'll match the offer?

More LFC bitterness. One the transfer window closed without a deal completed the handshake or whatever is irrelevant.

Ballague had a similar meltdown when Pogba chose us ahead of Madrid. Absolutely love it.
This still baffles me, we were never truly in the race to begin with. Pogba didn't accept our offer, which was before he agreed terms with united :wenger:

 These fecking posts...
I've seen people calling for the deal to be off over a few million quid. It's fecking ridiculous. If the club are willing to spend it then so what? We can pass comment on it but I couldn't care less.

My God is he a City or a Liverpool fan? Or he just want to stick with his stupid idea of how Sanchez may prefer the money to Pep? Fecking bitter.
Also Richard Keys on Bein sports said something like Chelsea can take Sanchez and his impression was like he is hoping for it.
He's a Liverpool fan but obviously jumped onto ABU's bandwagon because h
He’s still crying

Damn, he's really taking Alexis' snubbing of City and inventor of football sir Pep personally isn't he?

I think the comments Balague received in the first tweet have thrown him overboard and now he can't control himself. He is so pissed he can't even write proper sentences. Wow...

Brain damaged !!!

If that is the case, the deal agreed was for last summer.

The interest in him can change. The transfer fee offered to Arsenal can change (it went from 60m to 20m) and Sanchez' negotiating position gets stronger.
That deal is no longer valid.
It would be the same for any player... unless the player is a complete mug and doesnt know his own worth.

So, could citeh be in trouble for tapping up if that's the case?

How can Sanchez agree to join them when he had a year left on his Arsenal contract?

Why do citeh get a free pass in literally everything they do? It's crazy.

I actually think that's pretty reasonable there from Carragher. I reckon that's likely closer to the truth then what City have briefed, to make it seem like United's money is the only reason we're (potentially) signing Sanchez. He's just said that City are backing down because of the principle of Sanchez trying to extort them for more money after negotiating with their rivals. Makes sense, as City were willing to pay more money as an overall package in the summer, but now they're not and they're making it as if the money was the reason.

There was a time when journalists impartially reported what was happening in a clear, concise and neutral manner. That was their entire remit. Just let that sink in for a minute.

I love that there's so much bitterness over this transfer. United as the evil empire despised by many is back.

Ballbag was crossing his fingers and toes dying for Madrid to come and hijack that deal all the way. I honestly think he shed tears that day. Completely unprofessional and can't report anything objectively. He reports what he wants to believe and he predicts what he wants to happen and is hopelessly wrong most of the time and resorts to snide remarks and petty remarks when it doesn't go the way he wanted.

My sentiments exactly!

This saga is showing that player wages have moved on significantly since the Neymar deal and we are alone among the top tier English clubs to have realised that. City and Pep think they can operate independently of the market and still get whomever they want but they are now learning that it's not possible. There are huge implications in this for Spurs. Either they give Kane, Alli, Eriken new contracts consistent with this new market or they lose them. In terms of total cost of the Sanchez deal for us (c£100m per Sky Gary Nev), it is a good deal, no doubt.

Alexis' wages are nearly approaching what we paid Rooney - a million pounds a minute!!!!!

Balague should be embarrassed to call himself a journalist, jeez.

What the feck is Mkhi waiting for? Just go already. Match made in heaven. Fragile player deserves a fragile manager.

35M + Mkhi doesn't make sense, so are we selling Mkhi for free. It was always stated the deal was straight cash, so Mkhi should be a separate deal where Arsenal should pay us some money, presumably close to 20M. Whats the deal here?

sky sports betting having a field day getting punters going on this one.....they do it all the time

Guillem says City are back in the race (and also Burney)!:

Honestly, why do you care?

I'd still be happy with it
