Yep. It's just another of the stupid Arsenal memes invented by the media. In recent years:

Szczesny
Gibbs
Chambers
Walcott
Ramsey
Wilshere
Oxlade-Chamberlain
Welbeck
Zelalem

All promising young players, some joining for big money, all failing to fulfil their potential under Wenger.
What? Only Wilshere, Ramsey and Chambers were promising out of that lot. All of them are first team players at Arsenal. Ox wants to play in midfield, and got enough chances to cement his place there but failed and was moved to RWB. You can't include Welbeck, Walcott, Zelalem, Gibbs in the promising players without being accused of being biased. These are middling players who only got a chance at Arsenal because of being English. West Brom is their actual level. Gibbs is already there and walcott, welbeck will soon follow him. You realise that Wenger can only help a talent blossom if talent is already there. He can't equip them with abilities which they don't have. The very fact that he persisted so long with these average players shows how patient he is with players.

He was doing well with Pogba during the start of the season. It is not a coincidence that his performance dropped incredibly when Pogba got that injury. I think he is an intelligent player and I am a little bit sad to see him go but anytime you can get Alexis, you have to do it.
So his iq turns dogshite when Pogba isn't on the pitch? Reality is Pogba's absence increased his workload as a decision maker in our attack and he failed. That's unacceptable for a United number 10. He didn't just underperform, he totally forgot how to do basics

If this goes through and Sanchez plays from the right, we're set with a very strong starting lineup.

Is he cup tied for Europe? Or else we can make a seriously deep run.
No since he played for UEFA cup, he can still be registered for UCL, but only one such registration allowed though.

Yes, it was Sanchez who forced Arsenal to buy likes of xhaka, elnenny keep Walcott not buy likes of lacazette until both Sanchez and ozil wanted to leave. He forced them to not improve a really bad defense or midfield.

Lacazette is an average signing as well. Linked with big clubs for years but nobody willing to pay up until Wenger got desperate.

Today is deadline day according to Wenger's stance

Always amazes me how obsessed transfer threads are with money :annoyed:

Firstly, it's not your money & it doesn't effect your life in any way. Stop acting like it's coming out of your debit account. Addendum to that, it hasn't effected ticket prices, which have been frozen for... how long is it now? The best part of a decade? Maybe longer? So you can drop that argument before it even starts.

Secondly, despite wages spiraling upward, it hasn't effected the club in any way. We continue to shop at the top end, we continue to balance the books well, and we can continue paying big new contracts.

Thirdly, I could understand some concern if our wage bill was dwarfing our income, but it's actually a very healthy fraction. Ed's noodle partners and tractor suppliers ensure that. Not to mention that Zlatan will be going soon, which is a big chunk of Sanchez's wages covered, plus the possible sale of Micky, who is on the best part of £150-200k a week.

Fourthly, the Glazers spent years bleeding us dry, losing millions in interest payments, and failing to back Fergie with funds. If you're seriously worrying now about making those yank goblins put money back into the squad, you've got your priorities all backwards.

Finally, our club is basically run by accountants. If you're actually suggesting these eggheads don't have a grasp on our finances and can project whether a signing like Sanchez is budgetable or not, you're seriously underestimating just how many of these finance nerds are in charge.

In conclusion, spend a little less time worrying about "value" and a little more time enjoying the beautiful game

42.07 As a rule, a player may not play in a UEFA club competition (i.e. UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, but not UEFA Super Cup) for more than one club in the course of the same season. Exceptionally, however, a player who has been fielded in the first, second, third qualifying round or the play-offs of the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League is entitled to play in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League for another club as from the group stage. Moreover, as from the start of the round of 16, a player can be registered in accordance with Paragraph 44.01 to Paragraph 44.04. A substitute player who has not been fielded is entitled to play for another club competing in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League in the course of the same season, provided that he is registered with the UEFA administration in accordance with the present regulations.
Is that why mikhi is being pushed so hard? IS mikhi that supposed substituted/exchanged player?

44.01
For all matches from the start of the round of 16, a club may register a maximum
of three new eligible players for the remaining matches in the current
competition. Such registration must be completed by 1 February 2018 (24.00CET)
at the latest. This deadline cannot be extended.

44.02
One player from the above quota of three who has been fielded in a UEFA club
competition group stage match for another club in the current season may
exceptionally be registered, provided that the player has not been fielded:
a. in the same competition for another club; or
b. for another club that is currently in the same competition.

So signing Sanchez would force us out the top four? Interesting stance to take. My god.

Good post

Doesn't matter that it's Europa, could have a bought a Real player and it would still be fine.

but but... net spend...

I’m not sure if it’s realistic to hope for an announcement today, but at least I hope for some more juicy tweets about perhaps Miki agreeing terms with Arsenal

No it's not, only if he hasn't played in the CL yet.

Key point from Neville. The 'can't break the wage structure' argument is redundant. As Neville points out, everyone (except those that believe City's PR team) know that players leaving near or at the end of their contracts get inflated wages. Ashley Young and Mkhitaryan are two players at United that earned bigger wages for that reason.

No because of these

1. The Real player was played in the CL same as United
2. Real is currently in the CL same as United
Of course it will be fine no matter what club he was from as long as he wasn't played in the group stage of the CL.
And yes Sanchez can play for us in the next stage of the CL if he joins

Fingers crossed this would be over the line by tonight. Would be good if Mkhi goes the other way. We can recoup the rest by shifting Romero and Darmian in this window.

Relax guys. Our official site has name-dropped him and it would never happen if the deal was still up in the air. It is all done, I think the minor details relating to Mkhi will also be resolved soon.

I was not trying to make excuses for him. He has underperformed for sure. I just liked watching him play when he was rolling, that's all.

And regarding the iq thing, if that's what you understand out of my post, so be it.

Mourinho talked about wanting to keep the number of the players in the squad at 22 so I can't see Darmian going unless someone else is being brought in.

Kind of everything I feared. I've said for a while that I think he's petulant and has a bad attitude. Arsenal playing poorly or him wanting to leave isn't an excuse.
So a player who is happy to stick it out in a losing team and just be content with the lack of passion and fighting spirit Arsenal show week in week out is a good attitude? I'd rather have a player who gets seriously pissed when his team loses than someone who doesn't care about winning.

City probably feel he isn’t value for money considering the improvement seen in their existing players. Don’t see why Nev is acting so wilfully ignorant as if value is the same for every club.

There’s a load of factors to be taken into account

So it seems that Chelsea in a strong position too. What worries me if the both deals are similar, Alexis might like to stay in London,no?
