I think the revisionism in the media of Mkhitaryan has been incredible. A couple of weeks ago he was a flop and a nobody, now some think Arsenal have got the better deal. He’s even the same age. I can’t believe some of the stuff I’m reading this morning, I can only think that some haven’t seen him play since he was at Dortmund.
See also Welbeck. His reputation was in the gutter, always the one ridiculed when he was in the England squad. As soon as he went to Arsenal his reputation completely changed. He was going to be pivotal for club and country now playing in his favourite central position which United had deprived him of.

He didn't seem to play many games through the middle before being shunted back out wide, though. Now he's a nothing player again, but the obtuse revisionism is forgotten.

I really don't understand why anyone watches that shit. It's like self harm.
Rarely watch it tbf, and you're right it's poor most if the time, it be ok this morning though, Holt is on who is one of the few who questioned all the negative articles on Sanchez, will hopefully call Ashton on his article.

I'd be gutted though if Mou continues with his negative football against the big teams , even with Sanchez in the team.
It's not as black and white as 'negative or positive' football though.

Jose wants to win. He expects his sides to defend properly and counter attack whilst being clinical.

If anyone has a spare 15 minutes please go and read the comments over here, http://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/threads/alexis-sanchez.321724/page-4506 what a funny and bitter lot they are
There is no way in a million years that the original "offer" was genuine. It was made to be mischievous in our dealings and to bump the price and fee up. You have to give credit to City for calling their bluff and this really then backed United into a corner.

Mikhitariyan is a player Arsenal have admired for a long time and United were fully aware of this and knew they could use him as part of any deal.

Can you believe it has come to a Sanchez/Micky swap though? I can't but I feel there's more to it.
Also still subsidising Rooney's wages, the wage bill must be phenomenal
Nope :)

No, I’m someone that can quite enjoy being top of the league without whinging on the Internet about another club signing a player.

Their transfer dealings, wage bill and any other financial detail is completely irrelevant to us, just like their on field performance if we carry on as we are.

Sanchez will be nearly 40 when Sane, Sterling and Jesus hit their peak years. That should be the only thing that matters to us with regards to this particular transfer.

When Sanchez is 40, Sterling will be 34, Sane 32 and Jesus 31.

I suspect their peak years will be long passed at that point.

In fairness Holt was responsible for the only good Sunday Supplement clip I've ever seen, when he absolutely tore Patrick Barclay apart for being the stupid smug bald prick that he is.

The part about being clinical is a great point. If we took our chances nobody would be calling us defensive. Our defensive figures are good, he now wants to get the attacking side right.

waiting for everyone else to catch up!!
Nobody could have predicted it would work out like this for us a week or so ago, so those reasonably suggesting it wouldn't happen were perfectly justified taking a cautious and less optimistic stance imo.

I was among those hoping for it, sure, but i still expected him to sign for City right up until they officially withdrew interest. This signing has been a pleasant surprise to everyone at Utd (except those at City :smirk:) and anyone who claims it hasn't all come as a bit if a shock is making themselves look a bit silly tbh.

It's on, and nearly done, so let's just all enjoy a WC player signing for our club, instead of using previous opinions as an opportunity to either gloat or admonish.

An announcement can be made subject to work permit. I think when the contract is signed the announcement will be made subject to work permit/medical.

Looks like alexis will not be end of attacking signings. Duncan castles is adamant we will sign a left footed winger.
Great to hear. The club definitely lacks attacking options after LVG's bizarre squad building. Leaving the attack so light when the cost of attackers was going through the roof was negligent.

A creative number 10 is the biggest gap in the squad at the moment from an attacking sense. Even more so when swapping Mkhitaryan for Sanchez. Ozil for free would be a great option.

City were simply rejected. They are trying to save face but the reality is that Sanchez would've earnt more by waiting until the summer and then signing with City.

Agreed, but Dybala for whatever it takes would be an even better one....;)

I see a lot of Arsenal fans on social media saying "if Alexis is world class then why he was sold by Barca bla blah".
Alexis is world class, but he is not better than MSN. And he saved Arsenal countless times. He made the right decision to join them in 2014 I think. In 2013/2014 Arsenal put up a decent title fight by their standards and maybe he thought "okay I can be the main man to carry them to the title with Mesut". Little did he know.

Can't wait to see him pull on that United NO7 shirt.

I can’t wait to see our little stocky Chilean bombing around the pitch chasing every ball. I think Mourinhos going to love his work ethic and let’s hope it rubs off on our young guys like martial and Rashford. I mean what a deal Alexis Sanchez straight swap for Mkhitaryan....:drool:

How'd that "positive football" work for city against liverpool?

Sanchez has a role, to listen to the manager and play accordingly.
Well Liverpool's positive approach certainly worked out much better than our opposite plan against City.

The manager also has a role to get the best out of the players we have. Hopefully we will now seen the end of our cowardly performances against the top 6 teams. Jose has no more excuses on the playing side.

Listen to people like Oliver Holt and it seems United’s whole season is based around one game at Anfield.

Completely ignores us taking apart Spurs and Arsenal, and the various other high scoring wins this season.
I can't take anything that guy says seriously, he wore an alice band on there in the past...

All this 'he ain't Messi' doesn't deserve the wages etc. Messi is on £500k a week and reported got an £80m signing on bonus so he is effectively taking home £800k a week!

Interesting on Bluemoon they feel that we are inflating wage standards to hinder our rivals from offering players what we can. I think there is something in that.

This thread has made so many people look silly!

Great great signing for United.
How exactly did this thread made my post look silly? I replied to this:

He preferred City than us, that shows how much United has fallen though
with this:

It shows how far City have come more than anything.
So me refusing to shit on our own club but preferring to acknowledge the progress of the other club makes me look silly? The only thing you can accuse me of is lacking the power to see into the future. If anything, it's the original post that looks silly.

Do you mind explaining what's happening in the picture? I've seen it flying around but I don't get what it means.
It’s Norwood beating other media outlets and about to score. A tweet from him is unofficial confirmation that the deal is done.

It's a pic from when Özil dribbled everyone and scored. Think it was some Eastern European team in the CL.

The ball being Alexis, Özil being Norwood, defenders being BBC and Arsenal official account and the keeper being SSN. Indicating that Norwood knows more than them. Was used for Ornstein first.
