Well, we don’t have many choices in midfield with Herrera & Fellaini injured. Blind could play left, Matic right, and Pogba central. Blind is good at recovering the ball further up the pitch, a good passer of the ball, and can pass. He could be a solution to the issues we have right now.
Talk about playing all your midfielders in their worst position.

Overlooked by Mourinho for the underwhelming Lindelof. What a shame.

Oh give it a rest. He'll be gone at the end of the year and it's the right decision.

Can’t believe the likes of Lindelof and McTominay (ffs) are getting starts over this guy.

I’m a big fan of Blind, but you’re comparing him with two youngsters who have every chance of being here for the next decade.

He was finished after the Bristol game. Along with Darmian. That was the final straw. Honestly they were both diabolical in that game. There's no way either of them will be considered for selection now unless there's a massive injury crisis. And no he shouldn't play at CB. I'd still have Lindelof over Blind there. Blind has been here for 4 years and still hasn't nailed a starting spot in this team. Plus his physical weaknesses are exploited a lot at CB. He's had his chance and I'd rather Lindelof keep playing to help him adjust to the league. He's only just arrived so let's give him the benefit of the doubt.

The Bristol City game was a trial for Blind (along with a few other players) and Blind failed the trial. McTominay has had his trial in this run of games he has had, and he's done ok. Lindeloff has spent a large chunk of his season not playing.

I often forget Blind is even at the club and tbh I'm OK with that. Our 6th best centre back, 3rd best left back and 6th best central midfield player.

 Absolutely a joy to watch him play. Unfortunately is not the case for the die hard supporters of Jose's tactics and type player stature.

And people wonder why people talk about all the other different teams and their methods of playing football:rolleyes:.

No one will convince me he is the 6th best defender at United- maybe it is whilst we play hoofball and clumsy defence with minimal passing out from the back.

Hoping the lad gets an injury & outdoes Jose's half year stint in his 3 year  Many managers would not have him as our 6ths best CB- that's for sure; just Jose and his desire for physicality in everything he does.

McTominay? Has every chance? He's bang average and he shouldn't be anywhere near the first team in my opinion. I'd be surprised if he even makes it in the premier league to be honest.

Right now, I don't see anything special - certainly not enough to make me think he'll still be around OT two or three years from now.

Anyway....Daley Blind.

I'm beginning to wonder why he didn't just move on for his own sake in January as it's fairly clear that JM will never, ever, select him again although I've often wondered if he could ' do a job ' playing in front of the Back 4.

I'm a massive fan of Blinds. He's one of the best passers in the side and reads the game so well. But he isn't a Jose player, and that's fine. He's gone.

The game against Brighton- Blind played the whole game at CDM and was clearly instructed to chase after everyone. He looked complete useless as he is if you try to turn him in to Kante.

Blind is no longer a midfielder anyway - however as you said he is the guy who can 'do the job' just in front of the defence- but not as a midfielder but as the third CB.

We know he can pass. Check.
We know he likes to think before he can react & this is something most of our defence do not do. Check
He can pass better than all CB's Check.
He likes to bring the ball forward almost whenever he has the ball- check
He bought out the best of rash defenders like smalling & could bring the best out of Bailly, Rojo, Jones - whoever olays in a back 3 with him because everyone has the same problem of not using their heads first & are extremely rash. Check
Blinds weaknesses were generally covered by smalling- having another CB next to him would make that combination even better.
3 at the back inclusive of a CDM player like Blind able to attack and defend at CDM or CB has the ability to get the best out of Pogba. Check.

Not going to happen because Jose prefers certain type of player, certain type of tactics, doesnt want to play an open football. Check.

Did McTominay show you his worth today? As I said, I’m a fan of Blind but he’s never been capable of that style of performance in this style of game.

Losing to Comeback Winning!
Smalling regained some shade of his Beast mode form (LVG's final season). Hoping Blind can replicate his CB partner then and gained at least some of his form then. Blind's playstyle is very intellectual and so interesting and exciting. If this will be his last season, hope he'll manage to get fit and play at least 1-2 final EPL games where points are not so important anymore and position/rank of teams are literally confirmed.

Any opinion you have on McTominay is now invalid.
To be fair I had been reading this forum months before I joined & I noticed you as a fan on this forum is very biased towards Jose- you have not been even remotely questioning throughout his tenure when things come up that need to be questioned.

So @Kazi opinion on Mctominay may be invalid due to him not keeping an open eye; however I'd tell him to take it with a pinch of salt for now since it has come from a supporter that has Jose's back on full service - as shown on the jump to defend Mctominay

Havent seen him in ages. I am not a fan of Blind at CB, at least not a 2 man defense. Hope he moves on in the summer, he is too talented to be wasted like here. Would we move to a permanent 3 CB formation, i could see him as an LCB, but dont think it will happen

Genuinely concerned about him. Anyone seen him? Can we send someone to check if he's still okay?

He's been recovering from injury. I have him on Instagram always positive and puts the team first weather he is playing or not. Class act.

That’s good. It’s always good to know the weather.

Have there been rumours about him and his absence or something? I ask because on The Game podcast this week, Gab Marcotti said something like "I know we're all pretending Daley Blind's injured and disappeared..." after which Stewart Robson said "Yeah".

Obviously it could just be him being a tit, but it seemed like it was a known thing.

He was a starter under LVG. Mourinho was not even prepared to give him a chance until injuries forced his hand. He didn't let Mourinho down in his first few appearances but he's just not a Mourinho player and to be honest Mourinho has shown very little love for the players that were closest to LVG. Lindelof has nothing on him.

Absolutely. Blind and Bailly would be our best CB pairing and quite easily. What a waste really.
I’ve watched where teams started to target him. He’s nowhere near centre back level for United imo. Yes Smalling Jones etc are not much better but doesn’t make Blind any better.

You say this but he's done more in his time at United than Jones and Rojo have in the same time period. Blind has already shown countless times he can play at a high level in that position.

He played an entire season at center back alongside Smalling and we had similar defensive stats to any season under Mourinho during that time. He isn't half as bad as the paranoia surrounding him. He even excelled when played as a LCB in a back 3, which we never tried again.
