No Liverpool player talked to him or consoled him. Obviously.

Would be just like Klopp to keep starting Karius next season though.
Absolutely disgusting how not one team mate, coach or the manager didn't go near him at full time.

Yes, he made two costlty errors but, the guy is obviously in a bad way.
Was pretty disgusting how they handled that, he is their sacrificial lamb, but I thought overall Liverpool played like shit bar 20 minutes of crazy pressing and then collapsed systematically. Crap club, small mentality. Nice gesture from Real players. Will enjoy seeing them implode.

Ramos is a cnut...who knew. It was just poor keeping. Which only shows how underrated the GK position is. He made some pretty decent saves throughout the game but 2 mistakes and he will be viewed as a joke for the rest of his career. In the meantime, players getting paid 3-4 times more money than him, make tons of mistakes every game with most of them lost in the overall flow of the game.

The worst thing for him is that he was never good enough anyway, and always going to be replaced this summer even before the game. He won’t get the opportunity to turn it around and have a great season next year, unlike David Beckham in 98’, who came back from the World Cup as public enemy #1, only to have his best ever season.

My cousin is a Dipper and he was furious Karius was in goal in the first place, and I agree with him. Neither he, nor Mignolet are good enough. Both make mistakes, but at least Mignolet is a shot-stopper who is capable of making some outrageous saves. Karius doesn’t even make those saves, and is still just as much of a liability.

Lastly, I have no issue with his teammates not flooding over to console him on the whistle. You think Karius is the only one with feelings? They all needed to concern with consoling themselves too. I saw many Liverpool players in tears, they all needed to be consoled. When you have just lost a Cup Final, I imagine you have your own disappointment to deal with before you think of your teammates. Hopefully Karius got the support for them later though.

On the flip side, we will never get to see what t-shirts they printed to celebrate their ‘victory’!

He also didn't show any sign of a head injury that would justify these kind of mistakes. Didn't even have a bruise. It's a lame excuse.
He must have had a few head injuries this season also.

I actually don't know. I think he'd won the spot and was the first choice since about January. I don't think they were planning on buying a keeper this summer.

But they will now though. Hopefully it royally fecks with their summer plans. Also they seem to buy a worse keeper everytime.

Reina --> Mignolet --> Karius

If they kept Reina he would've been by far there best keeper.

Benzema was offside in the build up and you could argue that was interference.
It wasn't intereference because Benzema didn't prevent the pass, he intercepted it and it was a new phase of game when Karius took control of the ball. At least that's what a referee told to Canal Plus.

They should go after Buffon on a free if they have any sense.

I feel bad for the lad. I wanted them to lose ofcourse, but i don't wish that for any athlete. He'll be reminded of last night every day for the rest of his life. In a worst case scenario he won't be able to bounce back and this could ruin his life. Hope he's strong mentally.

Glad pool didn't win but i for one hope that this won't destroy Karius completely.

Holy feck, I haven't seen the Benzema goal up till second ago, and I though the mistake for the Bale goal was bad  This guy had a nightmare last night starting to pity him.

I really hope some of you realize how seriously something like this can impact a person mentally. As a boy you dream of this moment. There’s hours and hours, years and years of training put into it and when the time comes some major blips cause you to throw away your dream.

It is easy to laugh because it is the opposing team but just remember that this is a sportsman who had reached the pinnacle of his career and gifted it to Madrid.

I hope he seeks professional health and completely ignores online media. This will not be easy but he needs to stay strong. For some reason I didn’t mind the jokes on Gerard as much so maybe I am being hypocritical but the laughs at this guy make me sad

Gerrard was a self obsessed twat at the end of his career. Don't think he really gave that much of a shit, he was obviously gutted but for himself more than anything. It's why he tried to make up for by taking those stupid shots the entire second half, because he had to be the one to make up for it.

I wouldn't feel bad if it was Hart too. But Karius has had a pretty tough ride in English football already, is only 24 and he genuinely seemed gutted for the club and the fans at the end. It's much easier to feel sorry for him.

Can someone start a petition on change.org to change the words to You'll Never Walk Alone to make it clear that you will walk alone if you make a mistake in a major final? Thanks.

He’s nowhere near good enough for a club like Liverpool. Why Klopp didn’t recognise this from the errors he’s made this season, I don’t know.
It should have been addressed a long time ago and it’s bitten them on the arse.

I do feel for him but he needs to leave the club and resurrect his career elsewhere

He definitely is. Liverpool are not a top club anymore. Haven't won a trophy in a decade and don't have the money to get world class players all over the pitch.

A club with massive history but basically the AC Milan of England.

This is often forgotten when thinking about the slip. Not only did he directly cause the goal, but he ruined any chance of Liverpool getting back into the game by taking long shot after long shot in prioritising his own redemption over the team's performance. One of the most pathetic displays I've ever seen, especially from a supposed captain.

Wouldn't want to be him in the dressing room, training ground or even the flight back. Anyone who's played football for a bit knows how alone you can feel when you're responsible for a loss. I imagine it's more intense when it's the CL final.
You don’t say

How do you even recover from something like that?
You go again and lose another one as quickly as possible. Get back up on that horse.

Or do what Slippy did.....let it eat you from the inside out and simply not recover. God bless you Droppy. You stood up when we needed you last night.

Ok we can go down that route if you want. However let’s not dispute that this is one of two, along with Utd, of the biggest clubs historically in Britain. They owe it to their fans to show the ambition

Worst keeping display of all time that was last night and Klopp only has himself to blame. Two years he's had Karius and to not know he's so poor is bad management.

I'd called it in work as well, I said he and Bale would be the difference. I never imagined it would be such a melt down though.

But a large section of their fans don't know what it looks like to watch your team win the league though?

And when you ask Liverpool fans most will be happy with this season which shows where they are as a fanbase.

United and Liverpool are completely different in the modern game. We are on the back of 2 decades of sustained success while Liverpool are on the back of 2 decades of sustained nothingness.

Spot on. I said their defence would cost them eventually.

Defence starts with the keeper. Klopp didn’t get that

It was a bad mistake but keepers make mistakes all the time. As far as Buffon goes the guy is overrated. Even he had some bleak reactions in the last years final when Juventus got trashed. And even Navas made a grave mistake in the first semi against Bayern this year (for the first goal). I think the lad did good up until the goal

I feel sorry for Karius but I'm deligthed for Klopp because he didn't have the cojones to tell the sub why Karius got the goalie spot.

This one is all on Klopp for putting in a protegy of him who wasn't up for the task and he proved it already in the past.

In Klopp we trust how many finals did he win and he how much is his % of winning finals.

And I’ve been there with Utd so I can empathise

The big problem with fans like you is that you’ve never know a period of failure just success. Be thankful for what you’ve had and what you’ve got

He will probably do well to get a loan away from Liverpool there’s no coming back from that last night it’s unforgivable. Arguably the worst goalkeeping display ever in a match like the CL final.

Any goalkeeping mistake from here will be known as a Karius.

As bad as Mignolet is I don't think he makes them mistakes either. He's bang average but he gets the basic's right.

My biggest worry, if I were a Liverpool fan, would have been the fact every shot gets palmed or fisted back into the path of the opposing team. He doesn't even attempt to push the ball wide of his goal. I see no future for Karius there now, I don't even see how he can return after the summer as the fans and his teammates have clearly finished with him mentally.

What the feck does that have to do with the comment I've made? If anything it reinforces what I've said.

Many Liverpool fans will be happy with where they are now, many Liverpool fans will not hold this against Karius because he has been a solid keeper since January.

Karius is a decent keeper that facilitates Liverpool's quick transitions from deep. That's Liverpool's level. They can't expect to get the best goalkeeper's in the world just because they have history.
