He won't. Others are clutching to that Sevilla game like it's a gospel. He'll be.a 5th or 6th choice.
And he started that game because Herrera got himself injured in the first leg. How can anyone not like Fellaini? What’s not to like about him?

His best role/position is behind the striker. He rarely gets to play there and he accepts the make-shift job in the deeper role and yet our fans still complain.

Re Signed fellaini shows to me not only is the manager not evolving, but I see more of the same football. It also symbolic of the manager himself, that when we need a new midfielder we give this player a new contract. But it’s no shock, that this club is the only club that would give this guy a contract, same has this is the only club that would give moyes the job, we sell ronaldo and sign Owen on a free. We need a LB, Na let’s give young a new contract, we need another midfielder, Na let’s give fellani a new contract, we looking to challenge city’s side that set a new points record, but all I see from this club is more of the same. This Deadwood continues to flood the squad, that the manager embraces players who should it be here, and we wonder why we not winning titles or looking close to winning a CL since fergie left

Mourinho will live and die by his decisions. Only him and the board know what the situation is in regards to budget etc. We as fans aren't privy to such details.

All we do know is, this season maybe Jose's final shot at the league with us. If we don't significant on the field improvements, he will be more than likely out. We would then be a MASSIVE blot on his managerial career. That is one thing, for sure, he will not want.

So therefore, let's wait and see what happens...

Maybe because he says stuff like this:
“Afterwards I became important for the team… and a good player costs at least 50 million euros. The club knows that they went wrong there.”
He is completely delusional. If any player came out with this crap during Fergie's time he'd have kicked them out of the door.

Our idea of catching up with City this season is to add Fred to midfield.

Liverpool's midfield, for crying out loud, massively outshone ours last season and they've added Keita and Fabinho.

Cheers, Jose. You've lost it mate. Completely lost it.
Even Arsenal are strengthing with Torreira and possibly Banega. City will add Jorginho to a already world class midfield. Liverpool like you said with Keita and Fabinho. Honestly if we don't strengthen in the areas we need to I can see us falling behind the rest of the top teams. I can see us finishing 6th if we're still depending on the likes of Young, Valencia, Fellaini etc as key players.

He started 7 games last season. 5 in league, 2 in europe. And scored 5 times.
He was injured for a big chunk of the season. I'm not saying he's going to be a starter but this notion that he's just going to be a bench option is wrong.

No other words besides feck off does this justice.

Gotta love how we operate as a club:

United: We're offering you this 1 year deal
Fellaini: No, I'm running my contract out. I'm better than this top clubs will be all over me
(Nobody wants him even on a free)
Fellaini: OK I guess I'll stay
United: Great. Instead of that 1 year deal we offered here's 2 years and a pay raise.

The manager that brought him here, brought him to play the deeper role. His best role/position is for us to play behind the striker because every single time we have played him in the position he was supposed to play we have been massively outplayed.

Which indicates he's not going to be 6th choice.
It doesn't really indicate anything, just that Mourinho wants to have 6 midfielders to choose from and a 2 year contract worth probably 15 mil max is a more sensible investment than spending 30 million on transfer fee alone for someone half decent.

Fair to say that Matic, Pogba and Fred are higher than him in the pecking order. McTominay is Mourinho's pet project who got managers player of the year so i would say he is 4th and Herrera has played himself back into the fold recently and I would say he is 5th choice. Leaving Fellaini 6th choice. If he was higher in the manager's estimation we would not be 3 days away from his contract expiring and only finally agreeing a deal.

In a transfer window with interesting midfielders available like Thiago, Kovacic, Seri, Savic, Golovin, Fekir, etc... We extend Fellaini's contract

Because it's a transfer window where we need other things more badly than to replace Fellaini.

Are you saying Fellaini isn’t important to the team? Those last 10 mins when we pump long balls into the box?

The equaliser Ibra got against Liverpool at OT was because Fellaini hit the post and Ibra banged in the rebound.

There was another rebound at Anfield that Rooney scored from under LVG. There was the Arsenal goal I mentioned earlier.

Fellaini returns a goal every 150 mins as a midfielder. I think he’s a very valuable asset to have from the bench. It’s what it is. You cannot expect Rashford, Lukaku, Sanchez, etc to break through all the time.....this is why you need Marouane!

I just knew Fellaini wasn't going to leave, I wonder how much begging Jose and Utd did. We are really becoming the laughing stock of football, signing Fellaini and wanting to sell Martial. :wenger:
Wonder if Fellaini is too going to come out with a film like Griezmann, all in all a dark day for Utd.
Anyone who believes he is going to be plan B for Utd are kidding themselves, he would've made demands about playing first team football, who knows he might just be our new nr.10.
If we are lucky Ed will sign some Galactico to make himself feel better but it also wouldn't surprise me if this is our last piece of business for the summer as Jose and co will call this our third signing, last year we also only signed 3 players. :(

why do we need that option? do Madrid, City, Barcelona, Bayern, PSG do not have a target man to lump balls up to when they need a goal. the fact none of them would sniff at him on a free says it all.
Those sides wouldn't want many of our players. We could lose Fellaini on a free, sign a £40m 'replacement' and still not have a midfield anywhere near as good as those sides. I'd rather we spent the funds elsewhere.

I’m alright with this as long as it doesn’t mean we won’t get another centre mid. He’s a good squad player but that’s it.

Well on second thoughts I think McTominnay, Herrera and Fellaini will alternate between 4th choice depending on the opponent and who they are replacing so some games he might be first off the bench if we're playing Liverpool and Matic is burnt out at 70 mins. But I think he wont get significantly more game time than the other 2 and that Matic Pogba and Fred will be ever presents.

We need that option cos we don’t have Ronaldo, Aguero, Messi, Lewandowski or Neymar. We have Lukaku/Rashford who are several tiers below d the aforementioned players.

If you don’t want the Fellaini option, sign Ronaldo + Neymar + Messi.

He is utterly useless in midfield, owing to the fact that he can't pass, run, tackle, dribble or create. Hopefully the purchase of Fred will ensure that the limited appearances Fellaini makes will strictly be as an 80+ minute hoofball option vs sides that are sitting deep protecting a draw.

What the actual feck man. You seriously believe that we would need Ronaldo AND Messi AND Neymar to replace Fellaini's impact?

There are no words.

In a summer where Mourinho, Guardiola and Ancelotti moved clubs, we appointed David Moyes.

I wonder if Jose is digging his own grave here. The supporters weren't happy with the football at the end of last season and signing up Fellaini again, a symbol of the post Ferguson era, isn't going to go down well. Serve up slow, tumescent football with some bad results and this could get ugly.

None of them are remotely similar to Fellaini though. Mourinho wants him to play in a very specific role. He’s useful in certain types of games where we need an outlet and an aerial threat further up the pitch. We all know he isn’t going to be a starter and I’m really not fussed that he signed a new contract, especially when knowing that Mourinho was looking at spending money on players like Arnautovic to replace him. Time and money can now be spent elsewhere.

Feel free to list them.
Yeah, made up stuff is often forgotten.
Vs Everton (Away) - Conceding a penalty when he was brought on (very late) to see the game out - equaliser.

Vs Southampton (Away) - Giving the ball away which they went on to equalise with.

Vs Newcastle (Away) - Gives the ball away with an awful pass, Newcastle hold the ball for a short spell, lump it into the box, which he then heads straight to an opposition player - drew 3-3.

Vs Leicester (Community Shield) - Intercepts a pass then proceeds to play a through ball to Jamie Vardy, who equalises.

Vs Anderlecht (Away) - Fails to track Dendoncker’s run into the area, who scores from the cross - equaliser.

Nothing about what @JonDahl said was made up.
All made up mate! Fellaini is so good and we’re such blind haters that we have to resort to imagining scenarios to continue our hate!

I love how people bring up fellaini's recent comments about him being important to the team as a reason to turn against him and believe he has this elevated ego. It's the only time I can ever remember him speaking out in a personal way and not putting the team first. Good for him that he stands up for himself... He was and has been an important player for this club and manager and wants that to be reflected in a new contract...hoe dare he? I'm excited the extra money can be spent on something else we need like a LB or back up striker. He doesn't back down from anyone and is a great 2nd or 3rd option to have against certain opponents and late in games. Very happy if he decides to stay.

Getting desperate are we? You can do this for literally ever player in the team, and most would come up with far more mistakes than Fellaini.

I won’t bother replying any further, this will do nicely. :)

We’re in a Fellaini thread, taking about Fellaini. Make your case in another if you wish. Anywho, this is some made up rhetoric I can get behind.
