Basically as soon as a player no longer contributes or is sold or retires they are not just forgotten by a contingent of United “fans” but completely written off as shit on a stick.

Keane - madman
Scholes - shit pundit
Neville - how dare he try management abroad
Giggs - womanizing manager wannabe
Rooney - GTF out fat scouse bastard

All United legends!

Give yourselves a clap You bunch of spoilt bellends

Wales lose 1-0 to Uruguay. Cavani scored the only goal.

Uruguay caused lots of problems with their full backs. The Welsh wing backs struggled with their movement and kept getting dragged all over the place. The back 3 didn't fare any better against Suarez and Cavani, either, which isn't a surprise as Williams has been largely crap, anyways.

Going forward, Wales were heavily reliant on crossing the ball in from the wide areas. I guess this is Giggs' attacking approach: build up attacks quickly, get the ball out wide, and cross it in. He seems to want to do what Sir Alex did but without the quality of players or the tactical acumen. Uruguay were generally untroubled by Wales' attacks, whose best moment came from a free kick in the first half.

It's still early days. Wales are performing as well as they expect to, so no surprises there.

Guillermo Varela :(:annoyed:

Bale was completely anonymous, really isolated.

As you say, the only nervy moment was that nothing free kick which only became dangerous because everyone failed to connect with it. The sort a goalie waits and waits for the diversion and ends up seeing the ball rolling into the goal.

Uruguay will win easily their group, and the rest is history.

I think the main issue is that some people (myself included) loved him as a player and gave me some great memories but also I don’t think he should be manager yet as he needs to actually prove himself at a good level for a while to even be considered for the role.

It’s possible to believe both things and doesn’t mean you’re ‘anti United’

And I remember LVGs last season where the clamour from Pundits and the media was for Giggs to get the job, for no other reason than sentimental ones or in wanting us to fail.

So the issue is people still remember that and his personal indescretions don’t help either when you want somebody to be the figurehead of Manchester United.

I hope so. It's actually very tricky knowing our history: Egypt first is a nightmare first game (very worried we will underestimate them, much like I expected to lose to Costa Rica and not England/Italy in 2014); KSA we should win; but then the last game is against the home team which may be needing the result. Oops!

If we don't win the group then we go out to Spain, while against you I think it's 50:50.

 Have you seen Russia or Saudi Arabia? Wales and the Czech Republic are better than Russia, the Saudis are abject. Regarding Egypt we played with them, probably they will fight for the second place with Russia, with the bonus they have Salah, while Russia has Putin ;)

Watching Rashford's first few goals for United, Varela was involved in a few of them. I think he was hard done by. Could've had a good career for us.

Exactly, I would rather have played them first or second, not in the third/knockout game.

Nah. Not a very good defender and too injury prone. Seemed a good lad though and I'm glad he's managed to stake a claim in his national team.

Surprised at all the negativity about his appointment.

Wales should be qualifying for euros with their squad and if he does that and gets them to knock out rounds he'll be a hero like Coleman and should get some decent premier league offers.

Makes more sense to me than taking a bottom half premier league job now and possibly getting sacked after six months.

What makes me laugh is how certain some people on this forum are when it comes to judging managers.

I think managing is the biggest unpredictability that football has to offer. There are so so so many factors that can determine if a manager is successful and that's before even considering if he knows anything about tactics. Players are definitely more predictable but of course they too are prone to external influences.

Some say x manager is too inexperienced and some say y manager is past it.

Where's the middle ground?

I think we have to take a punt on a relatively inexperienced manager at some stage.

I'd take a punt on Giggs, like I would with Zidane or nuno santo or even carrick just for the risk.

I think managing is something you learn, acquire, develop and grow into unlike actually playing football where you are basically told straight at a young age whether you are good enough.

It's really depressing. What's worse is these players don't even impact the current wins/loses so what do we people get from bashing these players? I honestly think people do it to seem more "hip" as "real" fans who can bash the legends.

The class of 92 is seen as some negative backward dynasty on here.

Hit the nail on the head right there. How can people be so sure that Giggs will fail? LVG had bags of experience. Arsene Wenger is "proven". Moyes was "proven" at Everton. There is too much unpredictability.

Giggs has the raw ingredients (from start to finish he was under the tutelage of Sir Alex Ferguson). Who's to say if he succeeds or fails.

There's just no formula. No right or wrong until it's actually happens on a consistent level. I personally think it comes down to how you read people, how you deal with problematic people, how you try and come across as competent and then knowing abit about football will help. The list of traits that make a good manager is endless and the more I think about it the more I respect the man who had hold of us for 26 years - and how he adapted to all the changes that were thrown at him.

I get it wrong alot regarding managers and I'll happily admit it.
For example I thought guardiola would struggle at city given the club's he's been at in his career so far. I never thought he could implement an effective possession based game in the prem but he has
Regardless of the cash at his disposal, he commands respect and has a system which he stands by.

I thought mourinho would've grabbed us by the scruff of the neck and sorted us out following a disastrous spell by Moyes and LVG. Didn't happen the despite having a lot of money to play around with.

I don't know of anyone (managers, ex players, pundits, fans,) that has accurately foretold the outcome of a manager with any real accuracy.

Cool how he's now managing Lawrence. I think he Giggs came on for him in what was his last appearance for us and Lawrence's debut. Hoping they both enjoy some good times with Wales.

There was some 17 year old kid that everyone was getting excited about, what was his name?
Ampadu.

Thought he was a defender, but Giggs threw him into midfield and he bossed it. Unbelievable really.

Giggs gave 4 debuts, and the style of football was brilliant. So modern. High press, fast passing and movement, there was one point where a team move eventually led to our left back Ben Davies crossing into the 6 yard box where our right back, Connor Roberts conected with a diving header.

The best I've seen Wales play in years and years. The Belgium and Russia games at Euro 16 were great but last night was a more modern style of football.

Early days but if this is the Giggs template then he will have a lot of clubs chasing him soon enough.

Lawrence played really well. Lovely finish for the first goal.

The whole team seemed to be playing with total freedom. The way Giggs played the game himself. So much so that Ireland's goal came from Ramsey messing about with it on the edge of his own box with no defender behind him.

Ampadu looks like a great prospect. Equally comfortable in defence or midfield but I prefer him in midfield where he already looks like he has much more experience than he actually does. Can keep possession very well and moves the ball quickly, and he's also played some lovely long passes down channels when I've seen him for Wales.

Chelsea should give him a few cup games this season to aid his progress.

Aye, the amount of venom from our fans that i've seen on here against the CO'92 and specific individuals, like Giggs etc. really is mind boggling, and something I don't understand at all.

It's ok to criticise them. No one is perfect, but a lot go way OTT to make it clear they'd actively want to see them fail or something.

Agree, we have 3 games in 5 days at the end of this month and I'm sure he'll be playing. He was playing midfield last night as well which I haven't seen him do for us. Not sure where we'll play him.

He seems like an ideal player to have in a back 3, but now that you have reverted to 4 at the back hopefully he plays further forward. His passing ability will probably be a bit of a waste at CB in a 4.

Could probably be a nice step in to give Jorginho a rest in the League Cup etc. He has a good player to try and emulate there too.

Really enjoyed the way Giggs is already trying to get his attacking ideas across and it was evident from kick off yesterday. And it’s interesting that he has Albert Stuivenberg on his staff. Not to take anything away Coleman but his 3-5-2 became predictable and one dimensional.
