I’ll take it you never watched Robbo play for United. So yes they have and yes they did. Plus add to that we built a team to suit RVN and Ronaldo. Some players are just pure quality and managers tactics and signings are made around such players.
Again typical forum Tourette's, the question was about bringing players in to build a team around Pogba not about playing to his strengths. They never built a team to suit RVN or Ronaldo, don't you fecking remember who was already here before they were signed. To make references to Robbo, you might as well talk about Bobby C cause it has no relevance to today's game, it's an era which was completely different.

For me Utd have never needed to build teams around one player cause when signing players, the world class or very good prem players was already here. Yes we had very important players but never built a team around them.

Its all about opinions but I generally don't think you can be anything but inconsistent when surrounded by players that realistically wouldn't look out of place in a Everton shirt. If it's about his mood, then there are others on the team suffering from the same condition. I understand it and would agree but I'm waiting for a game that 70% of our team plays well anyway as he's not responsible for their performances.

He has shite games like other high profile players but the difference is a couple of things. First these teams win games which often covers over some poor performances, second they have other world class players so it doesn't matter, third there's also world class players on the bench so you know you can't afford too and last, they have a manager that knows how to get the best out their world class players (including signing them).....
You're proving my point with this paragraph.

Ah so ‘never’ is only when it suits your Tourette’s time line. Glad you cleared that up. You’re still wrong but never mind!

So sad to see him get wasted in this terrible United team. Honestly hope we ca get a fluid attacking unit going. He'd be a monster.
Meh he didn't impose himself anywhere near enough when he came on, your the star player, your team needs a goal and I'm willing to bet the likes of Matic, Smalling and Jones had more touches than him during the period he was on the pitch

At City everything goes through the likes of Silva, we don't play through Pogba anywhere near enough nor does he demand we do

He's not that sort of player. He isn't a leader that can dictate play. The guy is more of a luxury that needs a base around him but there's nothing wrong with that.

He is pure class if only we can sort out our attack/midfield

Impose ? Whenever he has the ball, all of his teammates stand there staring at him, completely static. Which essentially led to Pogba making a few runs towards the box by himself. And finally, we always play thru Paul, only that it doesn't feel as smooth and free flowing as city's considering we are 10 times slower than them in building up attacks. Weird comparison.

Best attacking player on the pitch by a mile in the 25 mins he played. I just hope we can get a attacking coach soon so we can see the full potential of such a brilliant talent.

For starters I made no comparison to City, I made a comparison to a player who demands the ball to make his team play. Pogba doesn't do that. As for feelings you speak for yourself, I know what I see

Earlier, I recall Pogba getting a lot of criticism on here, I thought it way too often was unwarranted and even in games he showed class. Then as Mourinho got most of our fanbase against him, the media wrote about the fight with him and Pogba and after that, everybody has been on Pogba's dick it seems, even when he isn't doing anything of note at all. It's surreal. Like permanent class no matter how poor he plays, it is very silly. He has been in a bad form lately, just be honest. Fantastic player on his day, but I expect so much more and as much as he has been exiting to watch here, he has also been so frustrating. So far he has overall been a disappointment for us in terms of competitiveness, at the same time often our only little glimpse of hope of entertaining football.

Looked like he was taking the piss a bit to me, but still offered more creativity centrally than we'd seen all game.

His first gear is fifth gear to any player on our team bar de gea/martial. Him coming off the bench looked like a man joining a kids game.

Please forfeit games if he’s not playing

Very very frustrating player. It's like he'd play only if he's arsed. He was trying to dribble past 11 players was the highlight.

It also is the other way around.. when he doesnt play well the comments are also surreal. ''Sell him, get that guy from Lazio'', overrated player, sell him'' and more like that. He hasnt been at his very best but he also isnt 100% i think. He didnt play for France and he loves to play for France so something must have been wrong with his fitness. He wasnt great in the two United games after that.

However.. when he gets on the pitch you can see a huge difference between him and any other midfielders we have. Our midfielders are pretty average (at best) but Pogba also is just a very good player. Pogba is a lot better than any of Fred, Matic, Herrera, Fellaini, Lingard, Mata and Perreira. Atleast with Pogba there is a chance for something exciting.. no way any of our other midfielders will do something exciting...

Made such a difference when he came on. Like Fred he was the only midfielder who was trying to play forward but he just had that added quality.

Pogba could be a world beater week in week out but the guy is frustrating as hell. One minute it can be a moment of brilliance but a minute later he will give it away showboating leading to a goal.

This guy will never be the answer (and I am speaking as a fan of his). Too many chances now for him but he just is not consistent. Get rid for £100m plus and move on as this guy doesn't give 2 fecks about Utd.

I have no idea why he is worshipped amongst a certain section on here as your club is being driven into the ground by big time Charlie's (not just Pog).

Loved watching Utd under Fergie when you had a team who played for the manager and each other but now it is just a bunch of overpaid individuals who couldn't give two fecks with Pogba at the top of the heap.

Yeah only after he looked for someone to pass to but no-one moved so he took it on himself .

This is actually spot on. It will cause friction with the fanbase though, because of his price. If the rest of the team were great he’d look amazing. I really hope I get to see Pogba in full flow at United.

I don't disagree with your post at all. I just find it weird to point out the huge difference in class the times Pogba isn't performing to the standards which is supposed to make the huge difference of quality. Sometimes other players are performing better than him for us, that isn't a lie. What they call class in those instances isn't so relevant. But I digress, can't really blame fans for taking to the details of touch and precision that Pogba displays almost always even when he doesn't do anything else of note.

Looked like he added class when he came on. But the way he applies it sometimes falls short of really being effective. By the time he came on the performance levels were next to dead though, so can't exactly be critical.

It felt so strange, you can notice his quality when he came on, he's is in another league level to everyone on the pitch. If rest of his teammates is talented as Pogba, that would make Pogba much better player.

 how sanitized is this post. You could eat a meal off it, and I'm not taking the piss.

Have no idea what people in here are on about but he came on, jogged around and did absolutely stone nothing. He hilariously tried to dribble around 8 people on about the 85th minute and lost the ball and while everyone was getting back just walked back without even breaking into so much as a jog.

To be honest, that was a pretty embarrassing performance and I genuinely have no idea how people can say things like "a level above", "showed class". To me that is absolutely mind blowing. But ho hum, we're tied to his performances and what he gives us so there isn't much anybody can do to alter the situation but give their honest opinion I guess.

Hope he finds some form quickly in the next couple of months because we're going to need it.

This is wrong.

At the time he came on we pretty much started to resort to hoofball. His 3-4 lofted balls were all really good and found a United player at least on 2 occasions with the others at least in a dangerous area right next to a United player. When he dribbled, he literally could not find a good pass because nobody was moving. Pogba did not frustrate me in that instance. What frustrated me were his teammates.

Pogba also had 1-2 dangerous moments which resulted in a Rashford shot? or Martial shot. Another moment where he did a lob pass for the give and go, which Fellaini cocked up. Also tried a rocket of a pass that Rashford could not control.

Pogba did not hide at all. I'm thinking you guys just want a more energetic Pogba to give off the illusion that he's trying. Not sure what else you guys are expecting. I'm sure a compilation of his performance would back me up on this.

I bet the likes of Stones, Laporte and Fernandinho touch the ball more, and complete more passes than Silva every game.

I do think, as bad as United have been, hes been more than decent for the majority. But the issue I see, is that hes holding himself back from being top class. I dont know if hes got an attitude in less than big games that he doesnt need the effort at times cos he reckons hes better than most (which is true for a lot of the times). But he gives of this vibe where he thinks its beneath him especially the lesser games.

It took Pogba approximately one minute to do more from midfield compared to all the others before him. I am very tired of so-called experts judging him and almost saying he isn't good enough to be here, that he is "frustrating". The reason he is so frustrating is that the others aren't going on the rights runs and helping him out. Our midfielders pass the ball sideways and backwards when they don't have options, whilst Pogba is looking for that next chess move. When he moves, if he goes somewhere else, there is a 100% chance everyone here will say... oh shit, so it was us all along. A classic case of you don't know what you got till it's gone.

You’re almost spot on. Laporte is 2nd in the league behind Jorginho for most passes, Fernandinho is 7th and Silva is 12th. Stones doesn’t seem to be in the top 20. Most of that list is defenders, Luiz,VVD and so on.

Yesterday I feel like when Pogba came on it seemed like he really just didn’t care to me. There is no doubt in every game he can do incredible things and if we need to pick any player to execute the final ball he is who I’d want doing it but he does need to put more of his stamp and influence games like Silva does.

I’m hoping once Jose is gone we see the real level of these players because where Silva benefits from a team that knows what it’s doing Pogba and all those around him seem to work off of a potluck scenario.

My only concern with Pogba is that he seems to affect the overall balance of the team, especially when he's operating in the most important area of the pitch. He simply doesn't provide us anywhere near enough support when we don't have the ball if you compare him with the modern midfielders nowadays

Yes you really sound like a fan! This is a strange rant considering Pogba didnt put a foot wrong when he came on against YB.

You put it very well. IMO, he's a celebrity player who has some fancy tricks to entertain, but he doesn't have an engine that's good enough for the modern game and he can't read the game / can't maintain concentration so that he's more of a liability than a benefit (for every wow there are at least two FFS's).

I was tempted towards a rant about how we over-paid for the disloyal show pony but opinions on here are so entrenched that I'd just get a load of flack from those who think that his performances are those of a £100m+ player . . which is something that we've never seen from him and never will.

I see where you're coming from but then playing with Matic or Fellaini makes it worse. The midfield is too slow and lacks energy. You'd need to incredible workrate to control the midfield and create whilst also getting back and doing the defensive duties.
A midfield of Periera/Herrera, Fred and Pogba is the best option. The midfield looked very dynamic in the 1st game vs Leicester it was more the attack that let us down. We need to go back to that selection

Pogba is wasted here now. We need a new manager with new ideas and with an attitude for respecting his players.

I agree with your final points but i think a bigger aspect in terms of that balance is our right wing. We need some presence on the right to support that effort and provide an additional option for them.

Wish we'd play Periera there

I actually now think he is the problem. Now doubt he is a class act and way above the rest of his team mates but I feel he slows the game down and players like Lukaku, Martial etc cannot play well when the game slows down. Lukaku does not know even what to do. So if we are to get the best use of him, we need to change players like Lukaku who plays direct football. Strikers would not know how to move if they do not understand what the midfield players are trying to do. I think with Pogba it is always himself and he is not trying to get the best out of the players in front of him.

I think most of the reason why the game slows down sometimes when he is in possession is purely down to the lack of movement in front of him. I think he would love to be able to release the ball early and forward like he does for France with Mbappé, but none of our attackers seem to offer that sort of movement for him at the moment. Everything about the way we play is so static.

Martial tends to work very well with Pogba. Admittedly more so when they are in close proximity, but still.

As Sinjch said, I would say that the movement in front of him is what causes him to slow things down, more than him slowing things down causes the poor movement. There are many many times where he's obviously got his head up looking for an option to pass to, but he just has to keep going himself because not a single player has actually made a good run. There are definitely times where it's on him, but far more often it's on the others.

I think he’s a big part of the reason the atmosphere around the club is toxic and blase on the pitch. The other players must look at his jogging around, all the talent in the world and barely arsed half the time and think why bother?!

The pity is he’s clearly our best player.

We have literally no RW. Just check any heat maps from previous games it's a joke. No attacking fullback and no winger. Periera is an option but I'd just play Dalot as wingback. What's the worst that could happen? An attacking fullback will go a long way to solve this. Sick of Valencia, Lingard, Darmian, Mata combos on our right offering nothing
