Agreed - teams should be set up to play to their strengths not hide their weaknesses and in our case attack is the best form of defence.
Too often under Jose we’ve seen the team sit back and invite endless pressure, often against the best attacking teams in the league, and just get sliced through time after time or eventually crumble.
There is also the issue of confidence - Jose has spent all this season saying our defence are basically shite and the weak link in our team and (surprise surprise) they’ve been shite.
They were so much better last year and I’m not buying into this idea that it was purely down to us playing more compact/defensively as a whole as this implies we’ve been expansive and attacking this year which is largely nonsense and just Jose being his usual disingenuous self.

Football, just like life, is full of ups and downs. Even if we get Poch and the best DoF available in the summer and the club start making good decisions, it still doesn't mean our improvement will be like a straight line upwards. There will be bumps along the road, so you must take the good when you can get it, and all of those things you listed were enjoyable, and if you cant get excited by that or a resounding victory on the field because you're worried it might not last, then you'll never enjoy football again.
In a lot of the cases above you’ve just described us signing a series of mercenaries. This situation is nothing like those.
We’ve just hired one of our biggest ever legends to manage us in a season when we have pretty much nothing to lose.
Myself and many others are not excited because we think he’s gonna sort out all our problems but rather cos we fecking adore Ole and know he loves and understands the club’s ethos and is going to work his bollocks off to reinvigorate the club and get us playing attacking football again.

I dont think the defence or DM is as crap as made out. They were under constant pressure due to our tactics and negative way of playing.
Hopefully by having the ball more it relieves the work load of the defence a bit.

I had some doubts about Ole and his lack of experience but that interview and his mindset is a huge plus. He already has the fans on his side, the players will be given a boost and will want to make a point.

Bit early to throw a load of kids in the mix. I'm all for it but lets at least get some sort of team cohesion going first before we have the luxury of integrating youth players into the setup. A good convincing win tomorrow and a brace for Martial or Rahsford will really get people excited, let's go with that instead.

Wouldn't worry about that. It seems as though he has a set way of playing and a set formation, one of the Molde fans on here went into some in depth analysis about how we would most likely look. I'm a bit concerned about us being one dimensional under Solskjaer but that's my biggest and only concern, but then again, it works for Pep and Klopp who just demand more instead of swapping and changing systems wholesale.

Agree. If it means they can assess what players are like without a mope as manager, then use that information to offload for the new manager in summer, then so be it, but there's a good chance the new one will want to give everyone a chance too.

We need to get very good at doing one thing before we try and become a jack of all trades. He should forget about a plan b and get us playing one particular way.
The briefings that have come out suggest the way Ole Gunnar Solskjaer likes to play was an important factor in making him interim. Also suggests to me the permanent choice won't be too dissimilar in style. He has to focus on implementing his style of anything.

Darmian in his fourth season here when it became clear three months into it first he wasn’t up to the mark. Absolute shambles.
Rojo in his fifth without getting a consistent run of 10+ games in a row, Jones despite never being fit for more than two months.
But I think it’s just Ole’s way of lifting the atmosphere and get everyone pulling in the same direction. From his social media, seems like he watches most of our games so would have a pretty clear idea of who is up to standard and who is not already.

A strange amount of writing off of Solskjaer amongst the general public and surprisingly our own fans at the moment. Do people really not rate his achievements? Or his ability? This is a man who came onto the pitch in the dying minutes of a Champions League final and believed he could still score and win the game. There's some criminal underrating on here in particular.
So happy mourinho has gone. And eagerly anticipating what new style and team selections we've got look forward to under ole. I don't expect a drastic improvement in results but am expecting more positive attacking performances atleast. That's the least we can expect and it's what we all want. Personally, I would love to see pogba, mata, martial, and rashford all start games. The confidence in the defence remains a huge problem and we'll likely be beaten by the better teams as a result but seeing a shift in attitude towards better football will be a breath of fresh air.

I guess some fans are sceptical about his managing skills, not about his achievements as a player. Two very different things.
As a manager he has done well with Molde but failed with Cardiff. It's normal that people perceive him as a temporary solution but all United fans are hopeful that it might work.
Good luck to Ole, kind of wish it was Liverpool and United fighting it out for the title, want the rivalry to have that same sort of high competitive nature as it did many moons ago!

I think its a worry that he says we only look at a couple of points on the opposition and focus on ourselves. It seems kind of naive and probably why his teams ship so many goals. Guardiola focuses on every phase of the game and works hard on stopping the opposition out of possession. Klopp seems to have learnt that he needs a good defence too in the PL and is reaping the rewards.

I think it would make sense that he just steadies the ship with the players he has until a permanent manager is appointed. Signing Messi now wouldn't get United into the top four or win the CL in my opinion.

He failed with Cardiff but so would Klopp, Pep and many, many others. When you have a set attacking ideology and philosophy, joining a bottom of the league club is a conflict of interests really. If anything his only fault was being too ambitious. I'm confident he will be a success as a manager, he's got all the right attributes.
