Honestly couldn't care less about some player missing a flight for a training session.

Let the manager deal with it

Not the first time he has missed a flight back to united!
If the story is true which I believe it is after ole said he didn't return because of an upset stomach:wenger: then it show a complete lack of respect to all the other players that dragged themselves away from their families Christmas day and also the club and supporters.

Lets not try and play down missing training because its fecking Martial either. If this was one of the less liked players the reaction would be way worse.
And so it should be. He’s our second best player in terms of talent from an outfield perspective. Constantly getting on his back for family related stuff is hardly conducive to getting the best out of him and is not in the clubs interests either. You have to adapt your management to certain players - that’s what Fergie would do.

Anyway not in the least surprised who is so outraged that Martial missed a training session. Just remember your allegiance is to the club - don’t fall into the trap of pursuing every little event that can be construed to justify Jose’s toxic man management. Give it a rest.

No one believed that illness thing anyway. Not sure this is as big a deal as some are making out, especially at Xmas.

Routine stuff for anyone who’s ever managed young guys - you give them a talking to, fine them and maybe some extra training sessions. Job done. If it becomes frequent then it’s something to talk about.

Exactly and it's so obvious.

Also finally Jose is gone and watching how we approached last 2 games, ManUtd fans should be happy, especially after the shit football in the last 2 seasons.

Edit: Also none of the good papers reported the story.

Sell him. Top player but he is an idiot sorry.
Were you of the same opinion when Rooney got the younger guys for a drinking session in 2012, got excluded from the match against Blackburn which we eventually lost 2-3 at home?

Of all the things to sell a player over ..

Also, he missed a flight. Not that he was around and decided to skip training, I don't see the big deal especially if it's a one-off

Assuming the story is true of course and this goes for any player even fellani

Pretty sure the club would have dealt with whatever happened. Unacceptable to be missing training though. The other players aren't mugs.

Why is there always one United player that does something stupid (if true) around Christmas time?

Rooney, Gibson and O'Shea spring to mind.

Dropped one game but still get the chance to play in XI the next game ahead of players like Lukaku or Sanchez and the others who work hard try to impress the manager?

If the illness was a cover up, surely after being dropped he should sit on the bench first and works hard to fight for his place and convince the manager.
Our current best attacker should sit on the bench because of one alleged occurrence? Try and convince the manager? Please try and think this through again.

Its twice in 4 months that he's missed training without telling anybody at the club.
We don't have a permanent manager and Woody has shown he will never sell Anthony, why shouldn't he take advantage?

I have tried my best using my genius brain to think about this through again and this is what I concluded,

If the news was legit then he deserves to sit on the bench for players who works hard for their spot. Sir Alex always said works hard beat talent. But anyway, if he really starts today against Bournemouth then the news is false.

Thing is, it wasn't even as though Ole only made that one comment about him not being well. He also said he was in light training in the press conference. Seems a bit elaborate when he could have just said Martial was late for the flight (if true) rather than coming up with two different excuses. Or maybe it is because I'm used to Mourinho being blunt.

I could believe this story is true in fairness he seems the type that would do something like this which would a crying shame as he's got incredible talent.

It’s just an excuse for people to come out with their pitchforks against martial. Why would a manager go through the trouble of stating a player needs to go through light training as a cover up? At this point it’s a bit worrying that some on here have an agenda against martial. It all dates back to that martial fc vs Manchester United rubbish.

I think it's true that he was ill. Doesn't mean the story is false.

Nonsense. Ferguson let his best players off with stuff on several occasions. Why do people feel the need to make shit up like this all the time I’ll never know

We all love United
Is he trying to top Sterling in terms of reproducing his offsprings? Missing flights again? Drop him today and play Alexis or Rom. The manager needs to make a statement out to the players

Exactly, not only has Ole supposedly lied but he compounded it with a second lie.

First there was the Pogba "He fecked with the wrong baller" nonsense story, then Shaw supposedly going around high fiving people because Mourinho was sacked story, then the also false Sanchez betting story and now this about Martial, interesting coincidence that they are all the players Mourinho had personal issues with.......

If the alleged occurrence is real then Ole obviously has a choice to make. If he decides that it is necessary for Martial to be dropped, no-one can complain. If he decides to keep him in then people will read into it as they want - "fake news", "Ole's bending over backwards" or that rare middle camp of "I wish Martial would stop being a knob but have faith Ole knows how to get the best out of him".

I think some are just siding with the story because he's done it before recently, valid reason or not, and his attitude has been called into question before.

Personally don't believe either way, but it's hardly the most outrageous unbelievable story so could be true. Maybe that's how they get you though.
Not the most outrageous crime either so appropriate punishment and get on with it if it is, unless he really starts being a dumbass.

If rumours are right, then he should be on the bench today.

He's needs to know that football is his job, and if he breaks the rules, he gets disciplined, just as we all would if we did the same thing at our work place.

All those calling for him to be dropped obviously have zero respect for my fantasy team. Scum.

This thread

Martial could take a dump in their cereal and they'll lap it up.

This is the daily mail for god's sake, that's all that's needed to regard this story as nothing.

Now that we have an actual adult at the helm I expect him to be disciplined in a firm but balanced manner. Drop or fine him and let's move on stronger

Like if you pulled a sicky but weren’t really sick, you’d expect to be pulled off a job or fined?

I don't believe a word the Daily Mail says, honestly. I'd very much hope it isn't true, it's one thing to treat someone like Mourinho who's an outsider (so to speak) with disrespect at Old Trafford, you can't do that with Solskjaer. There's only one person the crowd will be backing in that scenario.
