If we don't make top 4 it will have a huge amount to do with Mourinho.

Under Ole it's Played 14 Won 11 Drew 2 Lost 1. That's genuine title winning form.

Mourinho Played 17 Won 7 Drew 5 Lost 5. Mid table shite form, we'd won 1 of his last 6 so feck knows where we'd be now if he stayed on until the new year.

The only reason we're back in the race is because of Ole. If we don't make top 4 from here of course it'll be gutting and Ole will have to take the responsibility because he's our manager now but no chance would it be "nothing to do with Mourinho".
What sort of responsibility?

"Yeah my bad for not winning all the games"

It's a ridiculous requirement. No one expected him to be within touching point at this stage of the season so the same energy has to be kept now

Explain to me how the damage has been undone?
The damage was so severe that, despite Ole taking 35 out of 42 points since he started, which is pretty much title winning form, we are still only in 5th place. It's taken a miraculous run over the past few months to even be in touching distance of top 4.
Well before we went and lost to Arsenal (under Ole) we were 4th so the damage at that point was certainly undone

Why does what we thought previously have to do with now? Ole's been given the job full-time based on what he's done so far so quite rightly the expectations are now different. Victim of his own success and all that

It's like gambling. If you hit black 5 times in a row you don't expect the same result going forward.

Tonight is the litmus test for me. Win and I have a bit of confidence. Drop points and in my mind, it's over. The CL becomes all I care about.

We could probably afford one defeat, but might need to win the rest then.

Our away form was pretty good before the injuries in early December. You'll find that most of the bad results came in that period where at one point we were playing with Lichtsteiner as a centre-back. I wouldn't too much stock in the away record when looking at the upcoming fixtures.

If, at the start of the season, you would have been perfectly happy with us being only 2 points clear of 6th place with 10 games to go, then I guess you could argue that the damage was undone. I seriously doubt that is the case though. It still doesn't change the fact that all the "undone" damage was caused by Mourinho in the first place, and that is still going to account for the vast majority of damage done over the season, no matter where we finish now.

Responsibility in terms of he's our manager and it'd be up to him next year to make sure we get top 4. That's all, I don't blame Ole whatsoever.

If we don't make top 4 this season I'd have the blame to be 99.9% Mourinho fault. If not a full 100%.

Ole has done incredible to even give us a chance.

Oh yeah, of course, that's fair. I'm speaking of this season. If Tottenham and Chelsea and Arsenal performed a little bit better we would have no chance.

Well Arsenal are in massive pole position now....

If Man united lost as expected v Man. City can only finish on 76 points and your GD is adrift of what the others have so really too much as you could easily draw at Everton or another game.

Conclusion....need to get at least a draw v Man. City to stay in touch.;)

All over for united.

On the plus side this means we can roll over when City play us so Liverpool can't capitalize

Yup.

Disappointing to concede our top fourth with a whimper like that, after doing so ridiculously well to claw our way back into the race.

That’s the end of the top four we won’t win enough games and Luke Shaw being suspended for two games is a big blow. I actually think we will finish 6th which will feel like a failure but in reality was best we could have hoped for when Mournho was sacked.

I thought we'd get out of our nonsense performances earlier than this, but yeah, it's not going to happen now. Probably gonna be 5th behind Arsenal and Spurs.

Spuds are just on a free fall and Chelsea can still be wobbly.

But we have really dropped off now.

I can see us beating City (letting Pool win the title) and then not making the top 4 too

I doubt we will be still in contention after the Everton game. I can't see us getting the 6 points needed in the next 2 games.

Easy for Arsenal to finish 3rd.
There are many away games left for Arsenal and our away form is bad. The only advantage for our remaining fixture is other than Burnley our opponents have nothing to play for already.

We might need to win the rest of the games. It is not over. Although we must start defending much better as a team to stop man City.

It's not looking good but then if Arsenal loose to Everton at the weekend then we're no worse of than we were before the start of tonight's game all the while they themselves still have to go to Wolves

I'm not ready to throw the towel in just yet but that may change after the weekend

Top 4 is almost a certainty now.

The team I was most afraid of was Utd. I think this loss just about killed killed their chances of top 4.

With spurs and Chelsea's form considered now, I think we're favourites but I won't get ahead of myself

It was a good effort but it's always looked just out of reach for me. The defeat to Arsenal was the killer.

Wolves have nothing to play for too. Sometimes pressure makes or breaks you as we saw with Liverpool and Tottenham.

Top 4 can suck a dick, some can't see beyond the end of one's nose ( or what ever the expressions is ), the state of us, where we heading etc. Sure lets do Arsenal, get in CL yaay, get out of the groups and just to be knocked right after year in year on.

I said during the international break we have 2 games of wiggle room. 5 wins, then probably 1 draw and 1 loss is what we're allowed if we want to make top 4. This game might have been the tipping point but that target is still doable. Just need to get our form back and go on a run, even allowing for dropping points to City.

100% a Liverpool fan in disguise. Have thought it for months but seems to have flown under the radar.

Don't think so chap. Think if you go through my posts in this forum Liverpool is the "big" team I least comment on (actually probably comment on Man. City even less) although majority are just to slag off Chelsea and Spurs really from the hype machines.

This game for me was it we just had to win here to have any chance at all. We play West Ham home next which I'm hoping will be a win but after that we have Everton away which just like Wolves today is a very tough fixture. Then we have City at home followed by Chelsea at home. If things go wrong we could potentially be 10 points away by the end of april.
