Sorry mate, I genuinely don't know what you're talking about? Apologies if I've annoyed you in anyway, I just wanted to post a random thought that came into my head.

Here's another one - the Lord of Light is clearly the best lord... i've said it before, but yeah, he's the only Lord that be getting shit done.
Nice try, but you really should know better than that.

You do you, peace out.

I genuinely don't though - for a start, i'm not sure where I've been overly feminist?

I have literally zero problem with the Dothraki and Unsulllied dying - they are literally the best armies they have, it makes perfect sense for them to be your main lines of defense. The fact that it's the brown folks dying for the white folks is amusing to me personally - but I don't think its problematic in any way shape or form - nor have I stated it to be such.

The only time I have ever had a slight issue with that sort of thing in this show was when Danerys was being held a loft by either the Dothraki/Unsullied (can't remember which) a few seasons ago... but yeah, thats it.

I can't remember why I joined this war.
He's the worst military commander ever.

In the Battle of the Bastards he charged head on because he got overly emotional, playing right in to Ramsay's hands and getting his army slaughtered. In this one he allowed the dothraki cavalry (a large bulk of their forces?) to be annihilated in about 10 seconds because they charged with zero support, and then spent the rest of the episode trying (and failing) to be a hero.

He doesn't command, he's just a great warrior. People keep talking about him as a King or a leader when really he's just very good with a sword and a honourable bloke. He's led two battles and his army has been destroyed in both, and he's only 'won' because Sansa and Arya came up with the clutch.

The Dothraki should have been forced to fight on foot and clearly instructed that cavalry charges will not be effective against this kind of enemy, Jon should have known that. That would have been 40 thousand more men (some of the finest warriors they have to boot) holding the line rather than thrown away at the start.

I hope someone calls him out for all of it. Doubt it though.
Totally my thoughts as well. "What the hell is this fecking shit show? Snow already botched the battle of the bastards like a total noob, is there no military strategist in his ranks?"
You have a huge army and an elite array of soldiers with shields and spears. How do you not use the unsullied to block the charge of the undead, like they did with the retreat and then use the Dothraki to flank them? I guess the dramatic effect in this show out-rules any military strategic sense.

Clips with Brienne, Jamie and others were a bit.. Strange. Whits just pushing them around and them dying for 10 minutes and in the end not dying. Less I speak about Sam scenes the better.

I took the advice of some people who said, just turn up the brightness. Well I did, which makes it still weirdly dark, but also very low quality.

They needed to cut a bit of FX I get it, but telling people to get a better monitor is silly. As you can see if you look on the General's history, I bought a rather high tech TV a while ago and it was still dark as feck.

I’m not sure why you’re apologising. I thought the brown people comments were funny. Did Grey Worm (think that’s his name?) survive anyway? If not, that’s just one brown person left standing. But she’s very very fit, so that’s ok.

A few tweaks to get a better episode:

1. Trebuches behind the trenches, guarded and controlled by a fraction of the unsullied. Everyone else up on the walls. Fire at the enemy until they reach the trenches, then light it up and keep firing. When the fire start to burn out, retreat and defend the walls.

2. Position the dothraki on a nearby height. When everyone have retreated to the castle they can flank the enemy and cut through them from the side. Would have been cool if they showed what they could do by cutting through the enemy once, but then at the return the WWs came on horseback and showed what they could do by destroying the entire dothraki army.

3. Dragons helping the dothraki until the fog came in, and night king shows up and blast a hole hole in the walls (which the unsullied btw. should have been able to defend excellently up until that point). Ensue the following dragon fight.

4. Many of the main cast could defend the opening in the walls Helmsdeep style, before realising they will get overrun. Here the unsullied could have had their big moment, allowing the remaining forced to retreat to the citadel or something.

5. Follow through with the rest of the episode. Escpecially the Arya line were brilliant. Maybe the Hound could have been put off by the NK dragon blast instead of the planned lighting of the trenches.
Wow, you should become a screenwriter. Excellent ideas.

Nobody is apologising for anything since there's nothing to apologise for.

Not only did he clearly apologise but you responded to his apology in a fairly shitty way.

Nice try, but you really should know better than that.

You do you, peace out.
Which is a pity. This place needs more people willing to apologise. Even if there’s no need to.

I was really hoping Jon would survive the undead dragon blast, something something being born of ice and fire. Give him a heroic moment slaying the dragon instead of it just dropping dead.

Actually Jon being Jon has basically gotten two of Dany's dragons killed now. If I were her I'd be wondering why she's helping such an idiot.

Totally agree.

It would have made the episode so much better if the defenders hat and resemblance of military strategy employed and still lost the fight because the Nigh King employed some of his elite soldiers and his dragon in a better way. The way it went non of them actually did anything because the defenders where unable to even hold the foot soldiers at bay because Daeny or Jon decided it was a great way to waste their cavalry in the first 30 seconds of the fight. Overall the battle scenes in this show really are starting to annoy me. How is it that non of the writers can even bother to put some thought into how a smart battle scene could be played out and still be engaging, nail biter material?

What did he apologise for exactly? I certainly didn't see any need, I'm not sure why you think he should even without one. That seems counter productive.

And no, what this place needs is fair discussion. Which is exactly why there's no point or resolution in this particular one.

But what do I know.

I was thinking whilst watching it, why didn’t they bombard the dead whilst they were stopped in a line at the fire?

Why no burning barrels etc pushed down towards them?

I kind of wish she'd done something with the faces thing... like she was pretending to be a white walker and then snuck up on the NK. That would have been a lot more interesting.
I wanted Ser Jorah to survive and stab Jon in the face. I think yours would have been more likely to happen though.

Maybe that's why I'm quite satisfied with this episode; Jorah was my favourite character and Theon was in my top 5 as well.

Very frustrating. Who builds trebuchet and puts them in front of your foot troops?

If only Sam would’ve died. I will cheer when someone lops his head off.

Theon went down like a champ. I would have preferred Jorah to have gone down fighting a WW though and having a big finale showing his skills, but he died a good death.

Which on reflection is still my biggest problem with this episode. Why did we not get the best living fighters fighting the actual Walkers? Surely seeing Brienne, Jaime, Mormant or anyone else having a real fight showcasing just how great they are would only have added to it and even taken some of the cost away!

It's genuinely astonishing. This is a character with literally hours of development and training, so much so that people were complaining about the amount of time we had to watch her get hit with sticks and be blind and sell cockles and so on, who is utterly established as a magic super assassin and she's still a Mary Sue.

I actually found turning my brightness down made it look a lot better. I have an oled tv though so it can handle contrast and dark images really well.

My issue is not with the episode, it was generally quite well done. It's with the overall series arc now with Cersei as the big bad. She's a compelling character but honestly it doesn't make a lot of sense for me to have as her the overall big bad of the series given we have been talking about Winter is Coming for ages now.

They explained this in the behind the scenes. They didn't want the audience to have Arya in mind so her attack would come as more of a shock. I think that absolutely was the right decision.

There were some things in the battle that could have been done better but Arya was not one of them. They nailed Arya's part for me. Showing her making her way to the NK would have ruined all the suspense of her attack and would have been poor TV imo.
Had they shown her making her way towards him, people would be moaning about her not dying in the attempt or whatever.

They also telegraphed it in Arya's conversation with Melisandre, about how Beric had served his purpose to the Lord of Light by saving Arya, and the bit about shutting eyes forever. When Melisandre says "and blue eyes", Arya gets a look of determination/realisation, and runs off shortly after.

Mary Sue doesn't actually mean a woman who just got given major powers, it more means a woman who was made more powerful to fill a role. There is a male equivalent too.

Which of course is what she is, but not in the way these morons mean it, and certainly not how they've misinterpreted it

Despite wanting the killing to be better, anyone who gives a feck that it was any gender/skin colour role than ended up killing the NK seriously needs a look in the mirror. I for one am glad it was the badass ninja assassin, and not the lucky do gooder or the pretty queen who can't fight for shit.

Which is a complaint I understand.

I think the fact it's called Game of Thrones on tv plays a part vs the book saga name. I expect that to be reversed if it ever finishes.
