I'm not sure what is exciting about this kid, he's super fast but I don't see much else in the videos posted, and we are in desperate need of some proven quality, we start unproven players up top every week and they are a shit show, and if we want to use more unproven players we have 3 of them from the academy that are waiting in the wings every week to get a chance.

At this point knowing that I might see anyone in our shirt that's not already registered with the club is really exciting.

You tube highlights are not real judge of a player, though with little highlights I like what I see.

Bale or moura type winger, direct, fast, and counter attacker, good crossing. We never were good at scouting under Woodward till now, but I hope we start getting it right now.

We need to sign 2 wingers if Martial stays and 3 if he goes. If James can play on either side, signing him or another promising young winger for a small fee is basically a necessity, same for LB, where we really do need to have some balls and sign a 10-15M young left-footer to backup and push Shaw, like Leipzig or Ajax (smart clubs, unlike us, a dumb club) did with Saracchi and Tagliafico from South America, who seem to have been highly rated by everyone down there.

We need 5-6 starters, but we also need cover on the wings and left back, and if Lukaku and Martial both go, maybe even another 9, even if Martial is replaced at LW, since that's putting a ton on Greenwood before he even turns 18.

For £10m he's more than worth the risk. We could still sign a more established winger too. Little risk, high reward..

He reminds me of the signings Ole used to make at Cardiff.

Two outcomes.

He'd look great at Leicester and Wolves leaving us cursing why we didn't grab him.

He'd look crap when he comes to us as we have a poor structure and toxic environment for burgeoning talents.

With our owners it wouldn't be "Here's the money for the 6 starting players you need, and here's a bonus £10M for a punt on this kid for the squad." He'd count as one of the 6 buys, and like I said, we have 3 kids just like him already waiting for game time, why not risk spending nothing and actually give them the chances he'd get.

Agree I think our transfer strategy this summer should be

" Did he played for us this season ?"

If the answer is no then buy them as they are clearly better than what we have

We don’t have anyone with pace to burn like him

He’d do well at Liverpool as a sub. He can play across the front three and has pace to burn.

At 10m we should get him. If it doesn’t work out wed get the fee back anyway.

Sounds like he’d be a handy player. That sort of pace terrifies defenders. And £10 million is pocket change for us.

Sadly, from the subsequent reports, this seems like a link to bump up the price. He’ll probably end up at Leeds who were most interested him previously.

Think I've watched this kid play twice) on TV). Might just be the most rapid played I've ever seen! Not sure if there's more to his game than page though. He's so low risk it's worth a punt...

LFC fan? No chance he'll come here then.
I've rarely seen that matter. Players choose what's best for them, they don't base their transfer choises on a club they supported as a kid. He spent 8 years a Hull. If anything the biggest emotional tie he has to a club is Hull first, then Swansea.

It's weird that he basically all but signed for Leeds in January for £10m but at the last minute it fell through despite everything seemingly being agreed and now top 6 clubs are enquiring? For £10m he would have been a very cheap punt to make in January so what has changed?

if we get DoF/Technical director, we just need to grow out our money if we want to spend more so I think Daniel James is an investment, it's not like we bought him to be instant starter RW but if he's a success, he's easily 50-100m worth depending on his performance and could compete for spot in attacking. If he's poor, he could be sold for 15-20m to EPL team, that's 50-100% return on investment

Exciting prospect who already seem to have some skill. But why would we want/need someone like that? I rather have us sign Balotelli and put him on a five year contract, 300k a week.

He's the kind of player who I could see stepping up for a decent Premier League side next season like Brooks for Bournemouth. His numbers aren't particularly good for Swansea this season but I've been pretty impressed with him when I've had the chance to watch him.

He's only got a year left on his contract so there's a potential bargain to be had for somebody.
For someone? How about us?

In fact I edited my post. It was someone else.

Honestly I don't mind if we add players like Zaha and Fraser. Actually I named them myself in a previous post in another thread. Having said that I think that the jump between the Championship and the EPL is too big. If we get the guy then maybe a year or two on loan wouldn't hurt him at all.
I don't understand the point of signing a player at that age and then loaning him out. If he's good enough, he's old enough, and he's only going to get better playing with better players...

There was a time I really wanted us to sign Aaron Lennon. This seems very similar.

But as someone mentioned above -- if it means we don't have to sit through Alexis, Lingard, or Mata on the wings, then I am all for it.

I would still rather have Brooks or Frasier though, but they would rightly be way more expensive.
Evra wanted us to sign Lennon as well. He always had a nightmare game when lined up against him :lol::lol:

I don't see why we don't sign James and Fraser. Not big on Brooks. I'd like a left footer, but he's too left footed. James is good on both feet. Not sure about Fraser

He likes to take people on I guess and he's got a good footballing brain it seems. You can't expect him to be like Silva though for 10 m totally worth the risk.
You can be a winger who is good in tight spaces while not being a 10. If we're interested he should have genuinely top class talent. We don't need a speed merchant who doesn't have the technical class to go along with it. Those are the kinds that people will be ridiculing shortly after.
