Barca will distance themselves from him in the media any day now if he is ours.

Even his bro wanted it :( or maybe he was just trolling, like how we're probably being trolled again with De Ligt by ITKs and media alike.
He would have probably cone if Atletico hadn’t received a transfer ban. He stayed with them and decided not to feck them over.

Just feels like AdM. If he comes here, it will be for the money

He is captain of Ajax at 19 and seems very mature. I don’t think it would be about the money for him. I also think he’s intelligent enough to weigh up all the pros and cons of his options and not just fall for the Barca more than a club shite. He might still go there but dogshit on the pitch or not Utd is still an attraction. Being part of a new era and a rebuild could be appealing.

Barca exclusive - Yes, we scouted him for one last time and saw that his technique is not good enough, just like Jovic. Also a top scout from another club told us that his dad is fat and that was it.

What a bunch of fecking primma donnas these footballers are. I thought this kid was meant to be a bit more grounded.

I usually take these things in my stride but this is getting a bit much. Either sign or not but stop whipping up a damn frenzy.

How has he whipped up a frenzy?

If he's intelligent enough to weigh up the pros and cons he certainly won't be coming here will he.

Don't give a shit if he's about the money, it's the only thing we have over other top clubs right now.

Why are sky the only outlet reporting we’ve withdrawn our interest? yet they are playing the interview posted here saying he’s not made up his mind? starting to think we aren’t in the race anymore, maybe another English club are the English option?

I have never seen a thread blow up this quickly. De Ligt needs to see how much United fans really want him to join.

I just checked the official Barcelona Forum and on De Ligt thread. It only has 2,600 replies and 214,00 views and was started back in 2017.

Our thread already has 5,200 replies and 550,000 views and was only started this January.

Did any else pick up on that?

When he said the "Premier League" first. Why would he do that. If he was going Barca he would have said La Liga first.

He's ours!

:nervous:

He didn’t even say La Liga, he said Spain.

He’s so uninterested in Barcelona he doesn’t even know the name of the league they play in.

In the unedited version he says the Premier League is great, as the English leagues are all the way down to the Isthmian League formerly known as the Bostick League. Spain too I suppose.

He will be one of, if not THE best defender in the world for the next 10 years. He's a once in a generation player. Whoever gets him, won't be paying enough.

You don't know that. So far he's only played league football in Holland. The time to make such definitive statements (or not, as the case may be) will when he's had a season or two in a stronger league, up against stronger teams.

I think this is exactly how it works:

1- Preferred club on most money
2- Preferred club on near the most money
3- Acceptable club on most money

This process is obviously ongoing until the last minute and the player actually signs for a club.

Ultimately he weighs up the deal and decides what he wants to do.
I think this (though hoping 2 and 3 are the other way around).

He's probably also holding off to see if we buy Daniel James. No James, no party.

Pfffft.

Fecking lightweights.

I think it totally depends on the figures and how far apart they are.

The reason I have number 2 as it is, is to take into account a player will likely have an acceptable lesser amount in order to sign for his preferred club.

£10k per week, for example, might not make the difference but £50k definitely would.

We are the famous Manchester United. About 8% of the world are Man Utd fans. So this is expected.

I have not got any social media except for twitter to follow football and MMA journalists so I wouldn’t know.

@Adnan would be the one to ask. Any outdates and he’ll be one of the first to bring it that’s for sure.
I think the most credible news we have thus far, has come from Gerard Romero.

Simon Stone is making guesses based on his feelings and even admits, United would keep hush about such a deal, if they were infact involved.

Mark Ogden has been repeating what he said today for the last 6 weeks via podcasts and ESPN articles. So nothing new there.

The news will break from either Spain or Holland one way or the other. But as things stand, Gerard Romero is the only credible source that's said anything of substance along with Oriol Domenech.

This should be threadmarked as a summary.

If there's one thing Ed is good at, it's making massive wage offers.

He's ours!

At the end of the day, if he comes it would be great. But we still have many other areas that need fixing even more than CB: RB, CDM, CM, RW and ST. While it would be great to land De Ligt, focusing whatever transfer kitty we have in bringing competent talent for those other areas will IMO help move us up the table more than landing De Ligt.
