This will be a major dent in Eng's confidence. You don't lose like that. Have to say thank you SL for bringing some life to this listless group stages.

No flat wicket and England's amazing batting flops. All the hyperbole around their team is pathetic. They haven't achieved anything yet except some meaningless records on road like pitches. Let them win the cup and then we can measure how ground breaking their team is.

If Roy is going to miss the rest of the World Cup we have to recall Alex Hales

Playing with Vince at the top is effectively starting with one wicket gone already because you know he's going to fail for a nothing score.

Bairstow needs to tighten up, two Golden ducks in the first 6 games is hurting us.

Some utter brain-dead shot selection, particularly from Moeen and Archer. I don't think we'll be winning the world cup because we don't have the ticker in the big moments. Too often under pressure we wilt.

I don't really watch cricket. Can someone tell me:

Who were the starting favourites to come out of the group?

Who are the favourites to come out of the groups now?

Who are the big names struggling?

Thanks

Was just looking at the table

TEAM M W L PT NRR
AUS 6 5 1 10 0.849
NZ 5 4 0 9 1.591
ENG 6 4 2 8 1.457
INDIA 4 3 0 7 1.029
SL 6 2 2 6 -1.119
BDESH 6 2 3 5 -0.407

Top Four -
India only have England to play against in the current top 4
England have India, NZ and AUS,
NZ have Eng & AUS
AUS have Eng and NZ
India are very well placed and a win tomorrow takes them to second or third with one game in hand (compared to AUS and Eng) and Eng to fourth

The Contenders -
SL have South Africa, West Indies and India. If they get 4 points out of those three matches, Eng will have to win at least one match to qualify.
It’s a bit tighter for Bangladesh, who face India, AFG and Pakistan. Again 4 points from those three matches can put them in contention if Eng fail to win one match from their remaining three.

Crazy how things have become a bit tense For England.

Viv Richards coming out and saying Jos Buttler is the best batsman of the last decade...

England have not beaten Australia, India or New Zealand in world cups in the last 27 years. More of that please!
All they need is one victory, they should be able to beat NZ. Don’t see SL or Bangladesh beating India, but if they do, Eng are in trouble. But if you ask me, they have so many match winners, my money is on them making top four. A lot will depend on how they handle the pressure. Being almost unanimously considered the favourites before the tournament started and being the host nation, they must be feeling the pressure already

Yeah I mean they got to number 1 in the world by fluke . One bad result and the anti England brigade are out in force.

It's a strange way of looking at the sport really. Even if England don't make the semi finals I don't see how that changes the 4 years before that . Rohit Sharma has never won a world cup but I don't see anyone taking away his double centuries because they were outside the WC

It's brutal, I remember 2011 when we were basically allowing the team no other scenario but to win the whole thing, and the hype, the whole team coming together, and we had the added factor of ending Sachin's career with a WC win else the meltdown would have been insane. Going all the way under such circumstances was immense and England similarly will have to hold it together game after game. It will get massively intense once they start getting close to the semis and their route is the toughest one of all the top 4.

Brigade? There's just one poster saying that. Obviously everyone neutral will cheer for the underdog.

Eh..they have lost 2 out of 6 games. They are still one of the top sides this tournament. No one cares about no.1 rank etc. Let's see them win this cup and I would happily give them the credit.

This is exactly what I am talking about. Talking about last 4 years like England were humping team like Aussies of 00s then. You know what happened within last 4 years? CT in England in 2017. They didn't even make the finals. But keep wanking to then anyway.

You said they haven’t achieved anything yet they have achieved the no 1 ranking. You said all the hyperbole about them was pathetic. Couple of bad results doesn’t make them a bad team yet your post was insinuating that.

England's ceiling is higher than any other team, but their floor is lower than both India and Australia. I still think they'll win it though because when they go off, its impossible for the others to keep up.

Again India didn't win that one either so let's cancel anything India have done as well . Strange how the Odi records outside the world cup seem to not matter only for the England team .

Yep, can't see us winning the tournament after that. But let's see.

No idea what you are on about. Not sure where you have seen so much hyping up of India team. You implied England have been amazing in last 4 years. Amazing in setting some ODI batting records but flopping in winning a global tournament at home. Like I said keep wanking to 400+ totals in one off games. Or maybe recruits folks from more non English nation's next time.

Nothing to do with the underdog, there are some people on here who don’t like England and are
ready at the button as soon as they lose.
 India gets majority of the hate on here. Are you scouse? The victim mentality. Jeez.

Might need two if one of the unpredictable teams (WI/Pak) get some momentum going. Both have good fixtures but terrible form.
