who was it aimed at 'then' ?
My posts were aimed at the Indian posters who made questionable remarks towards the England team. Some even made it pretty clear they 'hate' some of the England players.

The posts in question are in this thread over a span of a few weeks.

I may be the devil, but i'm not a monster
Stokes probably had a hard-on throughout that innings, so would have definitely gone for 4 if it hit him there

But yes it's a nonsense rule. No further runs should be allowed if a throw hits a batsmen. Wait, that could actually also become a loophole for the fielding team to exploit?
Thats why i was saying bat. It so regularly hits the person and not the bat so I have no issue if that had hit stokes and gone for four, but the bat is as hard to hit at the stumps if not harder because its a moving target so teams would never opt for it.

Has to be up there as best game ever, in my lifetime that I’ve seen, and I’ve seen loads. Perhaps South Africa run chase of 438 but was a relatively meaningless match.

Tension in the ground since England being 80-4 was unbearable. Then the first tie. Then super over. Too many talking points. Going to keep me up for days living through it all.

As a sporting spectacle I even put it over Nou camp 99.
Absolutely insane . I woke up at 7 and started listening to BBC 5 live from lords . Felt absolutely dead when Morgan got out and then that crazy finish. Till the end of the game I didn't know anything about the tennis . Now I heard that United have agreed a deal for McGuire a few hours back . Still buzzing so much . I need more content . When India won it in 2011 I lived in India and there was so much content but not much here sadly

Why is it difficult for you grasp that you didn't deserve to win.
There is a World Cup. And it produces a winner. They are the best.

Everything else after that is salt, whinging, ifs, buts and maybe’s.

That’s it.

By the way, giving Williamson the player of the tournament sounds like a similar thing as was done with Messi in Brazil 2014.

Ben Stokes though.

What a gutsy, brave incredible performance.

He's a legend now forever.
He’s the ultimate competitor, you just know even after that over in the 20/20 final there was no way he wasn’t going to back himself to bat the super over.

Honestly, I laid into him in the IPL but his tournament was simply incredible and showed the world a different side to him. Great for him after all hes been through.

What’s so funny? I was at Nou camp and I was at Lords today. Today was beyond nuts. And the double ending is what made it historic and unique

your issue is you have no emotional investment in the winners and that is clouding your empathy .

I cant imagine sport getting any better than this, even for a neutral.

Stokes would probably not have run if the ball hadn't gone for 4 even though I think that he should have. As long as it's not your fault it's completely fair to run imo .

Yep, it’s up there. One of the best sporting days of my life honestly.

Yeah for sure, you know Stokes is the kind of guy who will bust a gut for everything and sometimes it gets you a slice of luck.

Definitely still more than can be done I think mind, in Worcestershire we have a big Asian population as does most of the West Midlands, and Moeen is a much loved man at the club yet when you look around the village leagues there are nowhere near as many Asians playing as you’d expect considering the love for the sport.
Happy he got his rewards today, two amazing innings of the top of my head this world cup( Lanka and this)

Yes, but both of us are utd fans.

It would be interesting to see whether other english citizens who are also utd fans think the same as you.

I don't get it though. For me it's similar to watching Liverpool lift the Champions league. I hated that. I don't really like this as well. I don't see anything wrong with it - I'm not an England supporter. The only thing I've stated is that England were very fortunate to win; which they were - they tied on both accounts and won by virtue of hitting more boundaries - I'll ask why the team who lost fewer wickets doesn't count for more? I think I'm not going to post in this thread and will wait for the Ashes thread, where I'll be hoping for England to get smashed 5-0 and, if they do, I'll be back to rub it in. If not, then it doesn't matter since I don't support Australia.
Wickets doesn’t count for more because that’s the rules. Said it numerous times this World Cup, people are making out that it’s England’s fault for weird rules, like the lack of extra days for rain. All the countries know the format going in, if it’s such an issue then try and change it beforehand, not after because a team you don’t like benefited from it. It’s definitely not suspect that you think the only category NZ could win with today is the right one.

Plus, you just lost a test series to us, a ODI series, lost to us in the WC, and got knocked by a team who everyone claimed was weak. But I’m glad you’re clinging onto the fact that someone else might just do what India couldn’t.

Kohli would have had a mental meltdown. New Zealand players have a lot more class.
Definitely. New Zealand players conducted themselves very well given the circumstances. Can't even begin to fathom how Kohli and certain Indian posters on here would have reacted.

You were lucky to be there, story to tell the grand kids, or in this day and age bring it up on YouYube and tell them you were there.

Well played Ben Stokes, deserved to be on the winning side after not be rewarded for his performances in vain vs Australia & Sri Lanka. An area England need to improve is strike rotation to hit 8 more boundaries and still need an super over, shows how much better New Zealand were in that aspect.

It was particularly bad today , even when Stokes & Buttler were well settled they could only manage 6 or 7 in overs despite hitting boundaries because they just played so many dots
