Every manager has flaws, and no manager in the world is going to build title/cl winning teams without significant investment in to the team. Had he been at a team where he had proper backing to bring in plenty of players of his own (as maybe we're starting to see now) I have no doubt we would have trophies to our name.

But yeah, he's made some of his own mistakes, particular in cup competitions. I find it hard to begrudge him for those mistakes though because the amount of times he has to make do/get inventive because he's clearly been told signings are off the table is unreal.
Totally agree, with all you say, I do want him to stay as long as possible, and I do believe he loves the club and has bought in full to the project. This season could be huge for us.

When is Sanchez flying out? He seems to be away a while
He won't be going to Asia. His last game for Chile was on 6 July, so a minimum 3 weeks leave makes it 27 July. Ole had said he'll link up with the squad when they return to Europe.

It's not meaningful in terms of elite European football. It's less meaningful than managers having won the championship for example, and no top side would hire a manager because he succeeded in the championship.

I mean the Norwegian League is what, the 25th best league in the world? It's obviously meaningful to some people, but it's not remotely comparable to success of any kind in a top division, let alone reaching the final of Europe's most prestigious cup competition. People do love to beat the trophy drum but a degree of sense needs to be applied to it, Eddie Howe boasts a championship trophy but would anybody claim that makes him a more successful manager than Pochettino?
So you agree with me, basically.
Winning a lower league isn't as impressive as winning the premier league for example, but it's still meaningful to win any trophy.
Obviously nobody would actually say that winning the Norweigan league puts Ole ahead of Pochettino.
Also I think there is genuinely a debate to be had regarding Howe and Poch.
I'd argue they've both done really well, and I don't think it's that clear-cut which has done a better job, I might be in the minority to think that though.

It's meaningful but I really don't like the whole 'ole has won a trophy and poch hasn't' line of thinking because it's super meaningless when you look at the context.

Gunna have to just agree to disagree on these statements.

Of course it is.
That's fair enough, although I thing it's unfair to just dismiss there is a conversation to be had there.
Howe took Bournemouth from the lower leagues, and has made them a solid premier league side.
It's a club with a tiny ground, a small fanbase, he's got them punching higher than anyone imagined they could.
Pochettino on the other hand has took Spurs to a champions league final whilst being a solid top four side.
It's impressive too, but I think to just say Poch has done a better job is wrong.

Time to use the strongest lineup and give them 70 minutes imo.

DDG
AWB - Lindelof - Tuanzebe - Shaw
Pereira/Fred - McTominay - Pogba
Greenwood - Rashford - Martial

Hopefully we will see more of what we saw vs Inter. Pressing, playing with higher tempo and players playing without fear.

If we lose this our season goes down the drain and Ole will prove he's just Ed's joy who sings his boss' tune.

If we win then it's just a preseason.

This is Ole's first real test. Needs to prove he can beat a top 6 team outside of his honeymoon period.

If we win - Ole and Ed might think we are fine for and don't need to spend.

If we get battered - it might encourage more signings? I rather get beat by Spurs in pre season to prompt signings than come 15 games in and we are getting out playef by Brighton at home.

We were utter shit during last seasons pre-season and we still signed feck all. Though I suppose fan unrest will get larger than it already is.

That is the only way I think we will sign anyone.. Fan Unrest. Sad but seems that way. Last season there wasn't as much fan unrest because everyone thought oh here we go Mourinho again.

Plus we just finished 2nd so desperation for signings wasn't as high as we felt we could still finish top 4 (though obviously we still needed major reinforcement to catch up to City). Whereas now we just finished 6th and have 2, maybe 3, sides far ahead of us with the likes of Leicester and Wolves who could potentially catch up if we don't pull our finger out.

This is the point I am trying to make. We clearly needed a CB last season didn't get one. Conceded record most goals for United. Still no CB.

We have been short in Midfield for about 10 years now. Quality CM's we have actually bought? Pogba yes. Fred? dont know yet Matic? and we have sold Herrera and Fellaini. Not replaced.

Can the Utd think tank not see this? Am i not seing something they are?

We let him go. my point is we lost 2 midfielders added 0.
We offered him a new contract, he didn't fancy it as PSG offered him a combination of more money + longer contract.

Essentially you can't even get basics correct

I think you need to check your basics.

Direct quote from Herrera "I was very happy, I have a lot to thank the club and the fans for it and also to [manager Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer. He did a lot for me to stay, but things did not happen, [United] arrived late, and by then I had already made the decision to play in Paris"

Manutd only offered him a contract after he had an agreement with PSG.

Irregardless of the result, I hope people don’t get carried away.

If we stuff Spurs 3-0 it doesn’t mean anything in pre season, likewise if they slap us.

Losing to Comeback Winning!
Redcafe not recording pre-season G/A stats bothers me a bit. :D

Games = 3
Goals = 7
Assists = 5
Clean Sheets = 3
Goal Conceded = 0

Goals
1. Rashford, Greenwood 2
2. Martial, Garner, Jones 1

Assists
1. Pogba, McTominay, Andreas, Chong, AWB 1

Fred over Pereira. Although I agree with the rest it annoys me no end that Martial is in the best XI without having performed well for ages. We need somebody like Pepe to shake it up.

Oh here we go, NO this game don't mean jack.. Chelsea in August is the FIRST test! Not to say im not excited about the game and I will be tuning in at 12:30, BUT if we lose then 3/4 of the Café will want him sacked unfortunately..
