The quality in the top 10 of the PL is something else.
Not really. The quality in the top 6 is. Or at least was the past 2 seasons

Rest are about par with their counterparts from other leagues, more or less. Or at least were last season

This season we'll see, bit early to judge

Mixed line up from us.

Great that Emery is playing all of Laca, Aubameyang and Pepe upfront, but he's then taken the creativity out of the midfield with Ceballos, Ozil and Willock all on the bench. But probably necessary given the full back situation - Kolasinac and Maitland-Niles playing and both much more comfortable going forwards, we'll therefore need Torreira and Guendouzi to cover them.

Happy enough looking at the two line-ups. Stay disciplined, don't give away stupid fouls and we'll win this. Could be fairly dull looking at the two midfields though.

The gap from 3rd-10th is going to be very tight. Each team has one standout weakness and strength.
Your lot have bought smart in terms of forwards as opposed to previous seasons. Keane, Richarlison and Iwobi are smart buys in terms of they arent finished article, but can get better and have pace to worry defence when things arent going right. Also it means you arent just relying on one meaning the pressure is shared.

Wolves/Everton/Leicester would beat the shit out of 7th, 8th, 9th in Serie A/Bundesliga/La Liga most of the time.

We already saw Torino get dispatched comfortably and they were 6 points off top 4 in Serie A. They'd maybe be 10th in the Prem.

Under soil heating.
They're a very good side but Wolves are somewhat fortunate to have not lost every game this season so far.

I have to disagree regardless of how early in the season it is. What 7-10 placed teams in other leagues have the quality of a Leicester, Everton, or Wolves? Hell West Ham spent 50m on a striker.

Everton's front 4 of Iwobi, Siggs, Kean and Richarlson could do some damage this year. Surprised it took Silva this long to start the 4 of them...

Kean and Iwobi weren’t match fit yet. Kean still needs a bit of time, he’s snatching a bit at the moment.

Disagree. Wolves -7th in PL last year- are indeed a level above torino -8th in serie A- but how good these teams are going to be this season is too early to tell

For example, i don't think Torino will finish in the top 8 again this year

As for last season, i'd say yeah, all of everton, wolves and leicester were better than Torino, but then i don't think torino were even better than Sampdoria or Fiorentina, teams whose seasons kinda stalled(and then nearly ended in tragedy for fiorentina). Meanwhile i think Lazio(7th) were better than Wolves/Everton/Leicester.

Europa League will be a killer for Wolves. It's sounds a cliche but its true, how many teams in the past have a good result Thursday and win on Sunday. I used to dread it when we were in it, essentially guaranteed us dropped points on Sunday. Spurs used to be the same, play poor after a EL game.

Did Spurs went another summer without spending?

This squad looks so familiar to last season. I can see why Pochettino is upset. Ceballos not starting is ridiculous. My fantasy team is not looking good at all.

Thoughts on Iwobi so far? I've only watched you vs. Villa but impressive he's already scored a couple. Always was a very good pass-and-move player who connects midfield to attack, but hadn't yet worked out his end product. If he can regularly score and assist as well as the rest of it he'll be a bargain of a signing.

Wolves were 7th and Torino were 7th. Wolves will arguably decline this season.

Any fair match up between Serie A and the prem (i.e 1st vs 1st, 2nd vs 2nd etc etc) will end in a victory for the English team most times. Just a significantly superior league.

First we'd have to see who are the 7-10 sides in other leagues

West Ham have a 50m striker who i think is very good and has started well, but 1) having a couple better players doesn't make you a better team automatically and 2) their 50m striker was signed from the 7th team of last season's bundesliga. Next season, one of those clubs will do the same

Leon Osman calling it a 'terrific advertisement for the Premier League'.

Even if true, it's honestly one of the most cliche phrases in football. Just grates me.
A terrific advertisement for people that are already watching the Premier League?

He’s great so far. Always positive and looking to move forward with the ball and aside from the goals he’s had a few shots that have been dangerous and could have been a goal on another day. Excited about him.

We spent over 100 million on midfielders. One of those (Ndombele) is injured and the other (Lo Celso) apparently isn't ready, which is Pochettino's decision. Sessegnon is also injured.

If Pochettino expected us to spend over 200m or whatever, then that's silliness and was never going to happen. We weren't about to turn over an entire squad in one season.

Torino were 8th

Do agree with the rest, as far as the top 10 is concerned, though the difference 7-10 there's not much. 1 to 6 is were the real gulf is. Bottom half is usually pretty much equal everywhere(big 4)

Well let's not get in the way of an overdue circlejerk focused on the PL

Happy for Iwobi, I think he'll do well in a team with more space to attack.
