Makes such a huge difference having a full back that wants to attack and doesn't just play it back safe all the time. MotM.

Fresh face, so automatically better than Shaw after a nothing more than decent performance. No suprises there.
Not at all.

He's shown he's got the talent to be much more effective than Shaw everytime he's played.

Obviously he's young and will make mistakes as he develops.

He was taken out of the team for a while after a couple of below par performances and comes back and was arguably man of the match.

This isn't a knee-jerk he's young and new he's amazing thing.

This kid is gold. Doesn't take nonsense from the opposition either which is great to see. Love the fight he brings to the team.

This Academy we have seems to be doing really well. Not surprised there's many who believed in our youth.

The most talented fullback from the academy hasn't even featured much yet. But well pleased with Brandon Williams and how he is coming along.

He's superb. Between him and Shaw left back is sorted for years

Do you mean Laird? If so, why is he being held back?

He is ace. He's inexperienced but he plays smart despite his boundless enthusiasm.

Seems like he's got a good bit of shithousery about him too. A bit of a hard-nut. I predict his career will be littered with a handful of red cards. It's gonna be a right laugh.

Refreshing to see left back who makes positive forward moves instead of just standing out on the wing waiting to pass it back to Maguire.

Aside from the occasional lack of awareness from a defensive point of view, he is what we need to put all our energies in grooming. Can claim the LB spot for years to come.

Someone please bump the Luke Shaw thread, can't seem to find it, want to see the clip of how his lazy ass ran back in the dying parts of the game, having just freshly came on!

MOTM for me, really solid performance.
How he got booked for diving I don’t know, Mike Dean is an idiot.

He missed alot of football through injury so they're taking it step by step with him.

Laird and Williams in tandem have absolutely destroyed many defenses coming through the ranks as attacking fullbacks so I'm hoping to see the same combo unleashed in a game or two this season. Laird is the more talented of the two imo.

He's positive, has energy and fight plus he actually puts a decent ball into the box - great to have depth in the LB position and I suspect he'll be first choice by the end of the season.

Top class performance. Not a moment of bother in defense and a dangerous contributor in offense. Ole has no reason to keep him out of the starting line up.

When he put that brilliant cross in across the face of goal in the first half I couldn't believe my eyes.

Our left back actually looking a threat and putting in dangerous crosses?!?

Should be ahead of Shaw now.

Brilliant character, great football brain, technically very good and has decent pace. Obviously there is some doubts about his defending against better sides, but he is easily our best LB already, and our best fullback offensively. Reminds me of Rafael Da Silva but Brandon is a bit less rash with his defending.

He will occasionally make some mistakes but that’s what it’s like with young players. Another mature performance tonight. I really, really like him.

Me too, Steve.

Laird must be looking at the opportunity given to Williams by ole and must be chomping at the bit.
This. Every young player would love to have Ole as their manager.

In fairness Ole has literally gone balls-out with these kids, risked his job. I respect that.

With youngsters, you have to be careful and not give them too many games at a go.
Till now I think coaching staff has handled Williams and Greenwood brilliantly.

He is such a fearless player and it's a joy to watch him drive forward with the ball. I have no idea what Williams' full potential is right now, but he is giving us another dimension when playing, an incredibly useful young player to have in the squad!

I haven't been that impressed by him so far, thought his positioning had been a bit off in previous games.

But today for me he has moved ahead of Luke Shaw for all these games against park the bus teams. I know it's only one game but for me Shaw offers so little in attack its pointless. I also feel Shaw doesn't run as much, feels lazier whereas Williams is more willing to attack and then of course trackback. It would be interesting to compare distances run.

MOTM performance, he offers a hell lot more it attack than Shaw, still needs to get better defensively specially coordinating at offside traps. I’ve seen he tends to stay back when the line goes up for the offside trap, but he defends fairly well, has the right attitude, strenght and pace definately I can see him taking Shaw’s place in the short term if he keeps improving.

Laird may be more talented but I expect Williams to have a better career at United. Williams strikes me as a future United captain. He has great leadership qualities and will to win. I love the way he plays.

What a great position to be in though. Wondering which of the insanely talented full backs will be better.

Beats arguing over whether Devonte Redmond is worse than Matty Willock.

Appreciate your superior insight and knowledge of the youth team.

Do you think Williams and Laird have TAA/Roberson level potential?

Solid performance but he's far too rash in challenges and gets booked too often.

I expect with age he'll snap out of that and be smarter with this situations.

A really good performance tonight. His desire to get up the pitch QUICKLY to support our LW makes such a big difference to our attack.

He put 2 lovely crosses in the first half, but his general play today was much better than away at Sheffield.

Many of us that have watched him in the reserves regularly, this was one of his performances he put in regularly, this is more his level.

I have no doubts that with a bit more experience he will be first choice. He's just more dynamic and urgent than Shaw these days.
