Apparently as well you can go view houses? I can understand getting the later stages progressing eg completion but what about those big families buying? I dont think I'd want random people walking round, potentially touching things right now, especially as I couldn't have my own parents over/ go to their house and not touch anything

Excess deaths are actually around 50k so we could be looking at way higher minus a couple of thousand who may have avoided going to hospital for non corona issues.
For most of lockdown, I reckon that the city centre was about 5 to 10% as busy as normal. The last two days have been somewhere between 20 and 30%.
You’re correct in that there are tests that can give quick results. The problem is that you need to be shedding virus to test positive. And it can take a few days after innoculation to start shedding virus (not actually sure exactly how long but definitely > 24 hours)

Yeah I knew ONS figures had been over 40,000 for quite some time now, the implication seemed to be that official Covid deaths were over 40,000. Guess I was reading into it too much.

We haven't really left lockdown entirely yet (but we've never been completely stuck at home either). Some things opened again in the middle of April and then there's a gradual eating of restrictions from Monday and through June. Personally I think we're doing things a bit quickly, but I hope I'm wrong.
That’s just disgraceful really. We’ve been in lockdown for six weeks and the number one priority area during that period should have been safeguarding those in care homes and it’s still not been done. An astonishing level of incompetence.

Boy did he fluff that question from the member of the public who had recovered from being on a ventilator with COVID-19. Came across as a complete psychopath. Powis seemed pretty stunned that he didn’t even offer token congratulations on recovering and immediately leaped on the opportunity to do that.
They pretty much throw him in on a quiet day when they have nothing to announce and don’t want any attention.

We need to keep an eye on how this develops again because I thought they had stopped outsiders from getting in
From the 15th of April schools up to and including the fifth grade started opening plus the final year pupils of primary and high school. It hasn't been completely normal teaching though. Pupils are two metres apart meaning they've had to have twice as many teachers as all pupils haven't been able to fit inside their usual classrooms. Furthermore, some teaching has been taking place outside.
From Monday the rest of the pupils are back in, now one metre apart.
Monday is also when e.g. football is technically back on however it's limited to 10 players and a coach at a time and you can't use the changing rooms at a given club.
So while things are starting to return to normal it's still with a lot of restrictions.
I wonder what the knock on effect will be for immigration.
Let's wait and see a few more days first, but I definitely think everything is being relaxed too quickly.
The 1000 new cases in Lombardy today also includes 400+ from earlier days, so it's not quite as bad as it looks.
I don't know about that, but people from Wuhan have been able to leave the city for more than a month. So really no big mystery in regards to how it could have happened.

It was depressing seeing all the people out on the streets in Milan over the last week or so. All the hard work done by the health care professionals will have been in vain if people can't be disciplined now at this crucial point.
