@11101, what's your take on the situation in Lombardia? It looks like you've had a lot of new cases today, which is a bit worrying.
Not sure what the point is in having people ask questions when you aren’t going to answer them.Alok Sharma is an irritant isn't he

Yeah he just has no clue and answers with "look, what the government has done is great and this is what we've done..... Blah blah blah. Does that answer your question?".Not sure what the point is in having people ask questions when you aren’t going to answer them.
Hopeless.
Thank you, thank you. I'm here all night*
It's been including that for some weeks now hasn't it?The data now includes care home deaths.
Knew this thread would turn out to be useful eventually.
It is.This is truth.
Do you mind me asking where the 40,000 figure has come from? Official figures are still around 32,000 aren't they?Have our official numbers definitely gone up to 40,000 now then? Do we think this will wake some up to the monumental cock up this country made?
Could you post the link to article/source please.WHO says positive data from some treatment of covid19 though still they have not discovered anything to kill the virus.
It's ONS figuresDo you mind me asking where the 40,000 figure has come from? Official figures are still around 32,000 aren't they?
You’re correct in that there are tests that can give quick results. The problem is that you need to be shedding virus to test positive. And it can take a few days after innoculation to start shedding virus (not actually sure exactly how long but definitely > 24 hours)I see - was under the impression that tests have been developed that can tell you results within a few hours (maybe China or South Korea had developed one, I could be wrong). If you need to quarantine guests for 14 days, you can kiss business travel and tourism goodbye
feck yeah! They left lockdown a while ago too. Pump that good news into my veins...Tweet

Yeah I knew ONS figures had been over 40,000 for quite some time now, the implication seemed to be that official Covid deaths were over 40,000. Guess I was reading into it too much. It's ONS figures
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...-death-toll-passes-40000-official-figures-say
Excess deaths are actually around 50k so we could be looking at way higher minus a couple of thousand who may have avoided going to hospital for non corona issues.
They’ll let people off before they go over the top.If most people are confused then the police will be too and I can see there being many instances where the police punish people even though they aren't doing anything wrong.
We haven't really left lockdown entirely yet (but we've never been completely stuck at home either). Some things opened again in the middle of April and then there's a gradual eating of restrictions from Monday and through June. Personally I think we're doing things a bit quickly, but I hope I'm wrong.feck yeah! They left lockdown a while ago too. Pump that good news into my veins...
That’s just disgraceful really. We’ve been in lockdown for six weeks and the number one priority area during that period should have been safeguarding those in care homes and it’s still not been done. An astonishing level of incompetence. The support for care homes is just shambolic. I know someone who runs a care home. The other day they made arrangements for testing all their residents as thankfuly they have not lost anyone yet.
They got all their residents up extra early (6.30am) which is quite a laborious task given their complex needs, so that all the tests could be completed and done within one morning. The tests were never picked up and after 2 days had to be thrown out as they were no good anymore. The home has had staff "living in" for several weeks to keep the residents safe and we can't sort out testing for them.
Anyone who has lost a relative where they have not been given adequate protective equipment or testing should sue for damages. Appaling behaviour!
As if they'd have to put this guidance out
Boy did he fluff that question from the member of the public who had recovered from being on a ventilator with COVID-19. Came across as a complete psychopath. Powis seemed pretty stunned that he didn’t even offer token congratulations on recovering and immediately leaped on the opportunity to do that.Alok Sharma is an irritant isn't he
Come on now. If some people STILL haven't grasped the concept of social distancing and some are protesting against the lockdowns or even drinking bleach ffs, you can never take anything for granted. Looks like everything has to be spelled out.As if they'd have to put this guidance out
Really??I see they've dropped it to risk level 3, already??
Apparently as well you can go view houses? I can understand getting the later stages progressing eg completion but what about those big families buying? I dont think I'd want random people walking round, potentially touching things right now, especially as I couldn't have my own parents over/ go to their house and not touch anything

Schools have been open for a while though, right? What’s the story with sports? Any allowed? We haven't really left lockdown entirely yet (but we've never been completely stuck at home either). I will be extremely impressed when in two weeks 11m people will have been tested in one chinese city. While no one else managed to do it in two months. So Wuhan not out of the woods yet.

Welders at the ready
We need to keep an eye on how this develops again because I thought they had stopped outsiders from getting inI will be extremely impressed when in two weeks 11m people will have been tested in one chinese city. While no one else managed to do it in two months.
From the 15th of April schools up to and including the fifth grade started opening plus the final year pupils of primary and high school. It hasn't been completely normal teaching though. Pupils are two metres apart meaning they've had to have twice as many teachers as all pupils haven't been able to fit inside their usual classrooms. Furthermore, some teaching has been taking place outside.Schools have been open for a while though, right? What’s the story with sports? Any allowed?
Let's wait and see a few more days first, but I definitely think everything is being relaxed too quickly.@11101, what's your take on the situation in Lombardia? It looks like you've had a lot of new cases today, which is a bit worrying.
I don't know about that, but people from Wuhan have been able to leave the city for more than a month. So really no big mystery in regards to how it could have happened. We need to keep an eye on how this develops again because I thought they had stopped outsiders from getting in
Fair point. Curious if there will be many (or any) reinfectedI don't know about that, but people from Wuhan have been able to leave the city for more than a month. So really no big mystery in regards to how it could have happened.
Link? What are they complaining about? The BBC "Have Your Say" comment sections really are a cesspit aren't they? Full of angry Tories.
It was depressing seeing all the people out on the streets in Milan over the last week or so. All the hard work done by the health care professionals will have been in vain if people can't be disciplined now at this crucial point.Let's wait and see a few more days first, but I definitely think everything is being relaxed too quickly.
The 1000 new cases in Lombardy today also includes 400+ from earlier days, so it's not quite as bad as it looks.
