Yeah, RATM always pretty clever when it comes to lyrics. One of my favourites;I’d have gone with Take the Power Back myself. Perfect for the moment.
“The present curriculum, I put my fist in 'em
Eurocentric, every last one of 'em
See right through the red, white, and blue disguise
With lecture I puncture the structure of lies
Installed in our minds and attempting to hold us back
We've got to take it back
Holes in our spirit causing tears and fears
One-sided stories for years and years and years
I'm inferior? Who's inferior?
Yeah, we need to check the interior
Of the system that cares about only one culture
And that, is why we gotta take the power back”
Very enlightening. I'm glad you cleared that up.Why you asking me? Why don't you take an interest? Which........
You ain't. Because I know if I said this person or that person or this group...you'd ask how I know. And I'm not going to do that. Why not look into it yourself?
There are levels of organization and everyone is spied on and they say it's to stop terrorism.. They were spying on Americans for a long long time......and lying about it. What is the end game? Where did the looters come from and how did they get organized? And why was it not predicted based on intel? ... This whole thing, relies on people thinking vs those who refuse to think or can't and then they are played off one another. If everyone CARED...as they claim, there would be much better dialogue and response. We have to be smarter as people to discern times. You go into realms that are not accepted but it's all about perception. You have to perceive the world around you because you are the one who has to interpret it. If you let others think for you; which is whats happening, this is going to happen over and over. If people want to stop these things, people have to Unite but they won't, because they are indifferent to the truth and are domesticated pets. But I'd ask anyone, if you were in a position of law - how would you have stopped it? Are you happy with the response? Has it been portrayed by the media in a way, that unites people and tries to relax people? If you were at a protest, would you loot and if not what would stop you?
And i'll get attacked for saying this but I didn't commit to anything and won't. It's just better not to be a lemming.
Gonna go listen to this nowI’d have gone with Take the Power Back myself. Perfect for the moment.

The one in omagh was cancelled because they got wind police were ordered to arrest everyone. Was at a protest in Derry today where social distancing was being used . People were standing in groups of three or four etc yet the police continually shouted over the speakers to try and disperse everyone and eventually took peoples names and told them they would be getting fined
The protests are now about far more than police violence or the kind of racism you are referring to which is overt and immediate i.e. a verbal or physical attack. They are about implicit, systemic and institutional racism, which sets the stage for a lifetime of oppression and glass ceilings by default. A ceiling generation after generation after generation have had to endure with no rest-bite or reparation.Wrong question at the wrong time maybe...but why are European cities protesting? I mean I understand solidarity and stuff and France has had its own cases when it comes to violence by the cops and racism but surely there might be other bigger concerns...like the pandemic, or the pro-democracy movement in HK?
He's been suggesting people watch some ridiculous videos the past few months including the plandemic oneYep full of shit. 10 minute strawman about George Floyd being a criminal. Why you would suggest anyone should listen to that jackass is beyond me.
Or perhaps just go full on krs with woop woop its the sound of the police... woop woop its the sound of the beastI’d have gone with Take the Power Back myself. Perfect for the moment.

Oh that was him as well? I'd forgotten who that was. He's been suggesting people watch some ridiculous videos the past few months including the plandemic one
I'm not sure how you ended up with that conclusion. It's simply describe the fact that if you are white, you have an innate privilege in society compared to minorities. What are peoples thoughts on the idea of White Privilege? As far as I can tell it's a bit of a poor term to describe the problems of racism. Not that privilege doesn't exist, but this term makes me very uncomfortable. It basically says if you are white, you are the cause of the problem, which is nonsense.
That’s not what the term means at all. It means if you are white, you have more opportunities than black people and other minorities, and no one blames you for that; you can’t choose your ethnicity. What are peoples thoughts on the idea of White Privilege? The name of the band is Rage Against the Machine. It really doesn't get more direct and obvious...Or perhaps just go full on krs with woop woop its the sound of the police... woop woop its the sound of the beast
Yea 99 percent certain. I think there was anothet video in the covid thread as well that he got slated forOh that was him as well? I'd forgotten who that was.
No chance with trump at the helm. Any normal potus would feign symphaty, took a knee, promised changes, pretend to change, and it'll all be forgotten in a year.Whats the end game
I think army on the street ending the protests in a hail or tanks and gunfire is unlikely
Equally allowing the protests to continue till they burn themselves out seems unlikely as well
So somewhere in the middle there will have to be something that gives both sides a reasonable negotiating position
Trump clearly won't resign before the election and I don't think the protesters will accept wait till November and cast a vote
There seems to be a lot of talk about "defund the police" which from what I can see is a very broad church ranging from demilitarised police with extra spent on community projects to abolish the existing force and start a new apparatus in its place.
Is there anywhere in that broad church a compromise could be found... and are police budgets a federal or state issue anyway?
I've always learned that a good negotiation means both parties typically walk away a little unhappy as they didn't achieve all of their goals... but happy enough that overall the end game good enough ... but with seemingly quite vague and decentralised demands... entrenched positions and multiple stakeholder groups im struggling to see who even negotiates with whom let alone the format and positions that could reach an agreement?
I don't like it. It implies that I've had a helping had in my life based on the colour of my skin. I'm a normal working class person. I've had no helping hand. Its a blanket statement. What are peoples thoughts on the idea of White Privilege? As far as I can tell it's a bit of a poor term to describe the problems of racism. Trump didn't invent police brutality and racism, I don't see what's getting him out of office would achieve on this front. What are the demands of the protestors? Defunding of the police makes sense if they're over funded but isn't the real solution voting Trump out of power and demanding police reforms?
It also could be the police station they burnt down, which I have 0 complaints about. What's the point of posting this?
I thought we had to have some commentary. That Twitter account is mostly far right propaganda from what I can see.
Is that footage the aftermath of these protest and if so is it one area or cherry picked from the whole country?
No, it implies that you don’t get shat on because of the colour of your skin. You’ve probably never had a job application rejected because your name ‘sounds black’.I don't like it. It implies that I've had a helping had in my life based on the colour of my skin. I'm a normal working class person. I've had no helping hand. Its a blanket statement.
It may not seem that you've had a helping hand but you've likely not had the hindrances that an ethnic minority has had.I don't like it. It implies that I've had a helping had in my life based on the colour of my skin. I'm a normal working class person. I've had no helping hand. Its a blanket statement.
A fair society where black, white and other ethnic people are treated the same way? How is that so hard to understand? What are the demands of the protestors? Defunding of the police makes sense if they're over funded but isn't the real solution voting Trump out of power and demanding police reforms?
You're right on the first part of course, but it would surely be a prerequisite.Trump didn't invent police brutality and racism, I don't see what's getting him out of office would achieve on this front.
I’m working class too, but the difficult truth is that in comparison to a black working class person we have had an advantage. It doesn’t feel like it when you see all the advantages that wealth and class give people, but being black in any wealth/class band puts you at an immediate disadvantage in a number of ways. That’s all white privilege means.I don't like it. It implies that I've had a helping had in my life based on the colour of my skin. I'm a normal working class person. I've had no helping hand. and Feck you I'm not doing my homework. Disney punk at it's best.Yeah, RATM always pretty clever when it comes to lyrics. One of my favourites;

Well there needs to be a better buzz word, because it just comes across as racist in itself and ends up in push back from privileged people. I'm not denying privilege exists but it's pretty complicated, historically race was a huge issue and there's a big hangover from that in terms of wealth etc. I think it is less about race now than it was and more about life chances. That isn't what it says at all.
It's about getting people to recognize that their reality isn't everyone's reality.
If it's not pointed out, those of us who've never had to deal with this stuff can merrily wander around blissfully unaware that there is anything wrong because 'I'm alright Jack'.
I don't believe it's about apportioning blame. Rather it's an attempt to get people to realise that they are benefitting from an unequal system because if it's going to change it needs buy in from the privileged.
yeh, it's just a really poor term I think. Maybe the sentiment is well meant.I don't like it. It implies that I've had a helping had in my life based on the colour of my skin. I'm a normal working class person. I've had no helping hand. Its a blanket statement.
You did not just diss RATM...and Feck you I'm not doing my homework. Disney punk at it's best.
yeh, I do agree with this - I guess my beef is with the phrase itself. I don't have the answer but I think it could be pitched a lot better.I’m working class too, but the difficult truth is that in comparison to a black working class person we have had an advantage. I tend to agree, although I wonder if making us feel uncomfortable is perhaps part of the point.yeh, I do agree with this - I guess my beef is with the phrase itself. I don't have the answer but I think it could be pitched a lot better.
If you say so. Personally I think it’s pretty succinct and thought provoking if you take the time to educate yourself as to its meaning as opposed to automatically assuming it’s an attack on yourself.yeh, I do agree with this - I guess my beef is with the phrase itself.
