Looked very sharp and confident when he came on, he's also making more runs in behind and starting to show some penalty box instinct, plus he is smiling an unusual ammount for him, long may it continue!

It feels like Martial has been with the club for such a long time since his breakout year in 2015 at 19. Sometimes I forgot he is still so young, only 24. This has been his best season so far with his output of goals, hopefully he keeps up this consistency and stay injury-free. I still feel he is way too inconsistent to be our main striker.

Even without counting the goals and assists, his performances have been consistently good all season except for a 2 week stretch in January. I shudder to think what our attack would have been able to produce especially in the first part of the season without Pogba or Bruno.

Like I said in a previous post Martial being inconsistent is a total MYTH dreamt up by the media and fans who feel that there is a better striker that he can be replaced with.
This is the premier league goal scoring chart for the season.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/top-scorers

This is the only season that counts as he has never been played exclusively as a striker in his Utd career until now and his career with Mourinho does not count seeing as he never wanted him at the club and he played him exclusively on the wings.
Remember that this season he has basically had to feed on scraps up until now when he has Fernandes and Pogba available to supply the passes.
He also has the most accurate shots on target in the premier league.
I would say that he is very consistent and can only get better now that he has a manager that trust him and you can already see that he has a great connection on the pitch with Rashford, Pogba, and Fernandes.

So once again tell me where he is inconsistent because there are no facts that support this, its just make- believe, you repeating something you have heard somewhere or you just don't like him

He's pretty consistently 1 in 2.

The forgotten part of this season, especially for Rashford.

Martial didn't play a game for us between 24th of August and 20th Of October (and that was a 6 minute cameo). So that is 2 months out, we were horrific in that period with Rashford leading the line. We didnt score more than 1 goal the whole period he was out.

Massive over reliance on Tony again tomorrow night, need him to do the business as our only firing attacker at present

Yikes. I remember we were really that bad.

Martial really is our best attacker. I’ve always known this.

I think alot of those journos and pundits are just lazy to critically look at the facts or they don't just like him as I believe they have their own hidden agenda or ulterior motive.
More concerning though is the fact that we only have 2 players on that list with none on the assist chat which just shows how well Rashford and Martial have done this season without any creative outlet.

Yea that period and once he came back from injury showed how key Martial is to our attack.

Can't imagine how reassuring it must feel for a young player to know for a fact that the manager has trust and belief in you. enough to allow you to make mistakes and learn from them without being condemned publicly or ostracized

He's visibly looked much more assured of himself and confident under Ole so I'm not surprised we're seeing his most productive season at the club so far this year

Say what you want regarding his tactical nohow but Ole's man management style has been just what the doctor ordered for our squad.

If you go in some of the many Martial threads (basically Martial out threads) on these boards you'd see people claiming Ole doesn't want Martial and has been looking to replace him ever since God knows when.

It's amazing what one can come across to on the Caf

Even when he wasn't at his best, his goals and assists ratio were consistently among the best in the team. Now that he has a consistent run, it's among the best in the league. Yet, the inconsistent myth persists. He is this generation's Andy Cole.

Both Rashford and Martial struggled when other was injured, at least before we signed Bruno.

I don't think this includes games vs FA Cup where Rashford didn't start in the first game and only played 16 mins in second game, we scores in that 16 mins window.

Martial needed Rashford as much Rashford needed Martial. Now that we have Bruno and Pogba, they don't have to rely on each other to that extent.

But can he replace born goal scorer Lukaku?

Since Bruno arrived Martial has started 8 games and has scored in 5 of them. The 3 in which he didn't score were Wolves(first Bruno game), Everton(just came back from a small injury and was visibly not fit enough) and Tottenham(half the team was rusty). He's basically been scoring consistently since we've added creativity in the midfield yet the talks are always about his "inconsistency".

He's been consistently scoring for months now(before Salah's goal against CP last week he was joint highest scorer in the PL with him since the start of 2020). The man basically doesn't go 2 games without scoring.

Ugh. These people, they just can't help themselves.
British pundits, aside from a few, like Neville, Carragher, a couple others, are extremely lazy in their profession in terms of preparation, learning and educating themselves about players/teams, and just rehash the same lazy crap each week. Compare it to the pundits and TV commentators in the United States, it's completely night and day. The British pundits and commentators on a whole put out such hollow and beat to death statements that don't help educate or inform the audience at all.

Ralf Rangnick.
Had him scoring in a Utd win & 3 or more shots on target. After Ole'c comments I'm expecting him and us to be up for it tonight.

Didn't do much, and I don't care...the team looked brilliant until Pogba and Bruno came off.

Didn't really have any opportunities today. BHA were sitting deep and we didn't really put any good balls in the box for him to attack. However we were dominant and got a comfortable win so all's well.

We never got him into a position to shoot nevermind score. Held the ball well though.

I'm happy with him as our CF, but the one thing I miss from when he played on the left is his dribbling.

Now, he doesn't really touch the ball much, and when he does recently, he just plays a simple short pass. I wish he'd take it upon himself to try things when coming deep, but that's just a minor complaint as I think he's had a very good season regardless.

The preoccupation of thsee pundits for united to buy a centre forward is just annoying. We have other issues and our players have done pretty well this season considering the dross that they had to play with earlier this season.
I just feel they have an agenda against him. We will get better and am sure if he is trusted long term he will produce for us.
