"I suppose we have to register you as a lethal weapon!".......My fellow 80's babies will get the reference. :D This kid is fantastic, two dynamite strikes, he's so good with both feet, his first touch is class and his instinct around the box is laser focused, joy to watch.

What a talent Mason is, I watched his reserve/youth team cameo video last year and he looked a huge prospect. Now he is showing he can do it at this level. defenders must fear his two footed ability so much.

Not only brilliantly taken, but big goals at key points in the game. The supposedly highly-experienced Maguire and De Gea owe him big time!

Always liked him in the firsts, has a maturity about him which our other young players have lacked, even the ones that are important for us now.

There was a lot of pressure at the start of the season and some thought it was too early for him to play such a big role.

Now it’s a case of Romelu Who? He’s already an upgrade.

fecking hell, he is brilliant. What a gem we have.
On one side Ole deserves credit for finding perfect role for him but also he deserves bashing for playing half of games with James on the wing.
This kid is just wow. I love direct players. No messing around when close to goal. He just goes for it.

He's the most two footed striker I've seen in a long time. Absolutely lethal.

Not one bit of it. Ole has handled this absolutely brilliantly. First half of the season, we were poor in midfield, lacked creativity and Mason hadn't bulked. He was eased in and not exposed to the cauldron of expectations, with fans wanting him to be "the saviour" and scrutinizing and labeling him "Greenbeck" for every missed shot.

Now, he's entered a team where the spotlight was on Bruno and "Brogba" and after he'd bulked up too. He's come into a side which has a creative midfield and which is high on confidence, is getting supported from all quarters and where the spotlight is now on him for positive things alone. He can have a quiet game and not be picked on.

That's how you introduce kids. Textbook stuff from Ole, even when he must have known that bringing him in earlier may have got him a few points if things had gone his way. I for one applaud his willingness to do it the way that is best for the player and the club. Long may it last!

Agreed but I think the lockdown period has really helped him grow physically without the additional pressure of playing games and making mistakes. So he's grown, learnt behind the scenes and we're seeing the results now.

I love the fact he's changed his haircut too, it's like he's a new player from the "kid" we saw before and now he's ready to start.

Very exciting times for United fans as we seem to forget Rashford is just 22 as well!!!

Tbf Mourinho brought him on tour and gave him minutes in 2018 when Greenwood was 16. Some talents are just so obvious.
Jose has brought lots of kids on those tours without giving them game time when the season begins. Or simply giving then 5 minutes game time every 6 months to get the fans off his back. I'm sure De Bruyne, Salah etc have all been on those preseason tours with him.

Absolute starboy this lad is, truly incredible gem of a talent we've got.

Actually starting to see rival fanbases getting alarmed or scared at the prospect of him leading our line for the next 10 years
Any links to oppo posts/forums on this? Would love to see the opinion on him

So composed, like Martial was that first season, but with the finishing ability of RvP.. On both feet

Hope he stays grounded and carries on at this trajectory, he will be a superstar.

At what point does Ole begin to consider Mason over Martial at 9 if we get Sancho? Seemed to be a given Mason would come off the bench but he has been phenomenal. Just a natural goal scorer!
Honestly, it could be rashford getting dropped for sancho if we get him.

Martial is offering slightly more at the moment. Theyll all be rotated and get plenty of games. Nothing to worry about.

I can't believe the power and precision on his shots, it looks unreal that 18 year old can do it better than majority of top strikers around. Only player who can shoot like that is Messi, but with inside of his foot. That second goal was something different too.

The conviction of his finishing is so good ... absolutely battered the ball twice. Says a lot about his technique and confidence in it.

No chance we give James 11. Should be reserved for a starter.
Bruno will be quite happy with 18, Rashford with 10, Martial with 9. Sancho should be given the 7 if he joins.

11 isn't a strikers number, we should give it to a wide midfielder/ winger (one who has started 26 times this year, by the way). He will be play a lot, either from the start or coming off the bench next season too.

14 is a great number for an attacker in my mind. It would be good to have a 14 who makes that shirt his own.

His second goal today was one of the best individual goals I've seen from an 18 year old. He got the ball in the center of the goal with lots of defenders around. Shifted it to his right, was moving away from the goal and slammed it to the opposite corner.

I was in disbelief on how powerful and pure that strike was. He can become an absolute super star if he keeps his focus and doesn't let all the plaudits which will come his way get to him!'

I dont think james will be much more than a squad player when its all said and dont.

Derailing this thread a bit, but im not sure i see it with him.

Greenwood on the otherhand, a blind man can see how good he is.

The 2nd goal kinda reminds of Sanchez when he was at his best in the quickness of getting it out of his feet.

It's becoming cliche to say it but his technique really is almost identical to Van Persie's. Is it too early to say that he's our academy's most exciting product since Scholes?

People have already said everything there is to say about his finishing, it's truly special.

But what about his movement for the first goal? That subtle drop of the shoulder completely fooled the defender into thinking he'd make a diagonal run and opened up so much space for his strong foot when Bruno found him. Veteran move, such an intelligent player.
That was sensational. You can't teach that imo.

Ole should put Michael Owens 46 Premier League goals as a teenager up on the dressing room wall as a target for this kid to tear into.

Also, this isn't even his final form!!!
Absolutely. I see so much more to come from him in general play. Right now he is keeping things simple and concentrating on scoring. There is so much more to come from him in general play.

Yeah Greenwood is quality and next season he should get a more prominent squad number, just not a wingers number. 9 & 10 are taken, 7 will hopefully have Sancho to fill it.

14 is the number of Henry & Cruyff that we've never really had someone make their own or 19 Rashfords old number or 20 Ole's old number any of which should suit Greenwood - James will need a boost if we sign another winger so give him Giggsy's old number. He will get plenty of game time anyway off the bench, in the cups and covering rotations/ injuries.

Not that I imagine any of this will matter to Greenwood, he looks just focused on the important stuff.

BTW so many of his goals are his individual efforts. It's not like he is finishing off gilt edged chances. That's one of the reasons why I want Sancho. We would be creating so many more chances.
