I take it you missed the Nani years, then?
Nani, Giggsy in central midfield, Rooney in pub mode, di Maria, Zlatan missing all those chances...

All very frustrating but Fernandes is on another level! One minute he does something brilliant and the next he can give the ball away as cheap as can be. You just never know what you're going to get when he has the ball.

He's a huge reason why we're in this position anyway.
I'd go as far as saying he may have saved Solskjaer his job. Without him we'd be nowhere near top four. He's been a revelation but we're relying on him too much and he's running on fumes at the moment.

Not really.

10 games in 4.5 weeks. Rested a combined 60 minutes over 10 games, but also played the full extra time in one of those. That's how you burn someone out within 1 month. Center backs can keep that level of playing most games. Midfield and attacking positions you need to rotate, especially if we want to get the best out of someone like Bruno.
More games than I thought. Perhaps we can give the benefit of the doubt and say Bruno is just underperforming due to tiredness. That said, the degree to which everyone has become an expert on individuals energy levels is questionable. Many players can play every game has been running and sprinting around every game as normal. The only thing lacking is the quality on the ball.

He doesn’t look physically tired to me. That said, more than anything else, I suspect the tiredness is more likely mental. Maintaining the concentration and precision game after game is hard for players.

I think our whole team needs to improve mentally. Sustaining good form is largely a mental challenge I think. Liverpool’s players, by and large, play every week. For two years. With little injury and rotation. It’s like we have small runs and then seem not used to operating at such a level and just fall apart. As a collective, our runs of good results seem to be treated like some sort of novelty. Lampard missed 5 games in about 4 years as a Chelsea midfielder. I think being used to operating at a top level energises you.

He's not. You're delusional.

Needs a rest. One more game to go at Leicester. No need to play him against Lask then he gets a 2 week rest before the Europa League quarters scheduled for 11th/12th August. Agree that its likely he has saved Ole's job.

He is the number 10 version of Nani. Great when stuff comes off, frustrating when it doesn't. (I was a Nani fan).

We are poor at winning the ball back when he loses it, another problem with the lack of intensity in Matic and Pogba.

Ole has totally missmanaged him, whats the point on playing him when he clearly has his tank empty?

Are we waiting for him to have a muscular injury to drop him or what?

fecking nackered but capable of doing things when nackered that Lingard or Pereira wouldn’t be able to do at 110% hence why he’s still playing.

Not buying him in the summer is why you’re having to overplay him now to catch-up.

Needs to learn to keep his cool. I was terrified he was going to be red carded with that var check but luckily head butting is not one of his best talents

People saying he looks tired, but that's because we haven't got anyone good enough to rotate with him and Ole knows putting someone else in will considerably lower the quality of our team. We need back up!

Its again a coaching though. Look how KDB was when he came to England. Playing wide right with crosses that may or may not hit the players. Pep is the reason why he is so productive now.

Hopefully we see the same with Bruno as well.

I am repeating again. If we want our no. 10 to be effective then we must bring forwards in the box. All 3 forwards stay outside the box and prefer to then cut in the box doesn't help the team. That said, he was poor. Don't know if it is fatigue or teams figured him out. More former than latter I hope.

Yeah when that went to a VAR check I genuinely thought he was going to go for intent.

We would have had a mountain to climb both tonight and definitely on Sunday if that happened.

I mean we did just get him. Next step is finding a back up / getting Sancho so that we play different without Bruno.
If anything, having only just got him means that we should have the player he replaced as backup! Unfortunately we are still paying the price for our transfer strategy, which has been non existent for 6 years prior to 2019.

He hasn't been here long. But first impressions are that he is much better than Nani.

This. Drill it in. The alternatives to his role are absolutely atrocious footballers. In fact, one of them is a liability on the field.

He could have started Pogba in his place and sub Bruno later. If not yesterday then definitely on Sunday.

He needs a rest, I'd start Fred and push Pogba up the pitch for the Leicester game.
The time for rest has gone now. We've pretty much got a cup (less) final coming up. So we'll be starting him for the possibility of having a game changing moment.

Gassed.

He can hardly stand on his feet at some points, you can see how visibly tired he is but we have no chance of resting him.

Clearly still a good player but without his famed work rate he looks a bit lost.

Saying that though it's not just him it's the whole team.
The commentator of my chanel talked about that like a hundred times yesterday. All I heard was "Bruno looks soooo tired" "he's sooooo exhausted but Ole seem to can't trust any backup" blah blah for the whole fecking match.

It's quite amazing for me that some posters here can't or refuse to see that this guy was shattered. Some of his first touch and passing had gone to Pereira level and that speaks volume imo. Yet he still run like fecking a lot, I was actually pretty worried for him the whole match. Sprinting in that condition easily lead to serious injures.

His yellow showed he truly cared for his teammates and imo, he's on the verge of his mental breakdown as well. He's an United player, no doubt about that.

I really wish we can rest him, but not next match I guess.

This guy is incredible, the engine behind our team and he knows it, and overdoes many things and is tired. He should be a bit more patient at times and not try and go for the killer ball every time, but how can you blame him,. without him trying yesterday there was no one else.

Well said. If we had bought him in the summer we would be comfortably 3rd.

But to be honest with you, this fanbase deserve pointless players like Lingard and Pereria starting for us. I have no idea what happened to our fans applauding players for trying things and being fearless nowadays it seems like most want players who play it safe and don't give he ball away.

I think that was the first game where he was below average. Even when he's been closer to average than good, he still contributed a goal or assist almost every time. Hopefully four days between West Ham & Leicester is enough for him to recharge and put in one final big display. We won't need him to play again until August 10th after that so he should be fully fresh again, especially if the coaching team do the sensible thing and give everyone a week off after Sunday.

He could have, but regards creativity, we'd still be losing out by quite a bit if we put in McT or Fred. Fact is, we need someone to rotate with Pogba/Bruno because our replacements aren't of the same ilk.

That's true but their task would mainly be to control the midfield and keep up the rhythm. For instance yesterday Pogba was basically walking around mostly and Matić was late for every challenge in defense and too slow and too much touches when having the ball.

I have watched Bruno from afar, and recently he is just like another Lampard, Rodriguez - stat merchants - the kind who frustrate strikers!

Having played 10/11 and worn #10 at the junior level, and studied my favourite 10s in Rivaldo, Zidane, Dinho, Ozil.... though not enough to critic but enough to know that players who play 10 like Lampard and Bruno make the strikers' jobs a drag. 10s like Lampard and Bruno are the greedy ones: always competing with strikers for not only goal-scoring opportunities like penalties but also goal scoring positions. A 10/CAM who would rather be ahead of their striker to score than drop off to link up play is a greedy one.

I have seen him intentionally playing the striker wide or short for an expected in-behind or an in-behind for an expected short as he runs forward to expect the ball back for a goal-scoring opportunity. A normal football viewer will miss some of this stuff but when you play the front line you know. Check Martial's body language recently with the recent passes from Bruno or shots.

This greedy breed of 10s play with their heads down, having more shots than even the strikers, looking for penalties and free kicks instead of passes, the showmanship to press - because they want to hog all the limelight. Give me a lazy CAM in Ozil / Zizou / Zico who don't press or trackback. The heaviest presses that Bruno makes are when he loses the ball - just a show! Authentic 10s don't feel overly guilty about losing the ball, worst of all, they can't be running around headless! Zidane in his last world cup was allowed to not press/trackback - his role was to receive the ball and spread it. Bruno has Matic and Pogba in the centre and he goes hiding in the wing and the front line. Recently it is Martial & Rashford coming back to play as #10 to bring the ball forward while he is hiding in the wing or playing on the shoulder.

The #10 role had started to be phased out of modern football because hardly any players were technical enough and selfless enough to play it well. A good 10/CAM in their element would have an open goal and still be willing to square the ball for another player to score. OGS should play 4-3-3 and keep that #10 role as obsolete as modern managers have rendered it.

Lastly, a 10 does not need much pace to perform, they need the ball and a lot of it - a 10 can walk on the pitch the whole game and still perform. Players in EPL use speed and running around to show fans that they care and therefore masking ability on the ball.

One of the reasons we haven't score is because of Jesse Lingard - he is more concerned about scoring and taking scoring positions than passing and taking more CAM positions. Our attack is not well-shaped. The guy needs to play more with his mind than his endless energy to run. As one who has played as a #10, though not at his level, I would say his position sense, combination play and vision are lacking.
Said the same about Lingard a year ago.

I guess you don't watch the Bundes much.

Many seem to think Pep "discovered" his crosses but truth is KDB started to hit those crosses when he was with Wolfsburg. Imo the way he played there is pretty similar with how he is currently playing. Imo he didn't got much better, it just help when you have much better teammates around. Especially the ones like Sterling, Sane, Aguero, Jesus etc who are all super fast and move really smart. Also much better finishers.

Really? Either the biggest WUM on this board or you have absolutely no idea of anything, sorry.
How can you compare Ronaldinho to Ozil? Or Rivaldo to zidane for that matter
There're too many bogus claims in your post for me to even start

Even on these last few "average" games, he could have another 3 or 4 assists just from corners alone, if only Maguire didn't bottle it so many freaking times.
