I’d take Reguilon over Telles too.
Would’ve just thought Telles is the safer, more experienced option. Always buying young players with potential isn’t the best way to do business. Need a few solid experienced heads especially in our defence.

Why is Mike Ashley spending so much? They already had a side that could avoid relegation. Makes no sense.

Yeah don't see us bringing in a ST until after January when Ighalo leaves, agree with you about the CB being earmarked for next summer as well.
Either I reckon. The striker anyway (can't see us getting a striker AND Sancho. If Sancho comes in then Martial/Greenwood/Ighalo (till Jan) is enough options at centre forward I reckon.
I know it's Luckhurst, but I do think he's right in that article when he says the search for a CB may be delayed until next summer. I think we are laying the groundwork now for a move for Upamecano next year.
So hopefully its Sancho plus a full back this window. That makes sense, especially from a cashflow and squad depth perspective.

I, ashamedly, watched his YouTube compilation video and I cant really see any clips of Telles beating his man and whipping the ball in or cutting the ball back. He’s very skilful and looks like a very competent penalty taker but is he what we want? Please enlighten me if I’m wrong about him, haven’t seen much of Porto.
I’m guessing this is a “make your mind up, Real” or we will sign someone else kinda signal.
He has been offered to us. Why would we need Madrid to make up theit minds?

Surely those two are the same

I'm assuming:

-----------------------------De Gea------------------------

---------Lindelof-------Maguire-------Shaw------

AWB------Bruno------VDB-------Pogba----Telles

-------------------Martial-------Rashford---------------

I also can't see it happening - purely because we were so fixed on playing the 4-2-3-1 last year
Having AWB in that formation would be an unmitigated disaster.

A gigantic keeper who can command the 18 yard box. He's apparently not great with his feet but I'll take that trade off if we no longer concede for fun from crosses and setpieces.

Regarding the clauses they are supposedly trying to insert, at first it was a buy back clause and now apparently a sell on clause plus first refusal.

I used to be of the opinion that Telles was a good left back option to have. My views on him did a complete 180 when i saw him play live at the Dragao against Liverpool in the 2018-19 season. Even though that Liverpool side was dominant and eventually won the UCL, he was piss poor in everything he did that night; there were times where it seemed like he was one of the slowest players on the pitch.

Last summer he apparently thought he could play DM. I guess these are all just tidbits to stoke up some slight interest.
I’m still a bit sad we didn’t get to see Marcus-crazy-fecking-two-footed-tackles at DM

Still chance. Ole might bring him on against the scouse on 92 minutes, home and away, if he stays.

So it seems like the club are bringing in a new LB. Either Reguilon or 21 year old Mykolenko from Kiev.
I’d still prefer a fit Shaw over any of the names we’ve been linked with. Seems even the club agrees keeping Shaw fit for a season is all but impossible.

I don't really mind whether we sign Reguilon or Telles as long as we start the season with more than one left-back. Both are very good, Telles maybe a bit better defensively and Reguilon a bit better offensively.
