Yep.

Boris seemed to get a lot of sympathy when he got it a few months ago.

Also, this gives Trump a good excuse to avoid the debates.

If he weren't such a serial liar, it'd be much easier to accept it at face value.
Boris has definitely become much more conscious of the threat of the virus after catching it. I reckon he would be considerably more gung ho about this second wave otherwise. I hope Trump - at the very least - has a similar experience.

To an extent it was inevitable, still a bit shocking that its happened to arguably the most powerful/important person in the world but whether its stupidity, arrogance, hubris hopefully people will see that behavioural issues/changes during the pandemic are so important in determining who gets this thing.

I'm sure it's nothing a couple of aspirin and a mug of hot bleach won't sort out.

Don't want to sound callous but like many posters I have to feel a bit skeptical about this, especially right after that shitshow. Bet he'll be just fine come election day.

You just know Trump will be asymptomatic and will have passed it on to Biden who will end up on a ventilator, that's just how lucky Trump is.

Whereas if he pops up again in two weeks looking full of health and dismissing the virus as being overexagerrated then it could have the opposite effect, at least among his support base.

Obviously nobody here wants him to be seriously ill (obviously) but seeing the virus actually have a physical impact on him would probably be good for the public's attitude towards the virus.

Will be interesting to see how this all plays out, to say the least. Worst case scenario he uses an easy recovery to claim the whole thing is a hoax and then reopens everything up. Interesting how many people think he could be faking it, it hadn't crossed my mind initially but nothing would shock me with this guy.

Trump announced, “One day, it’s like a miracle. I̶t̶ I will disappear.”

There will be some serious questions if he should remain on the ballot given all the early voting this year.

Wouldn't be the first.
Wouldn’t be the first to talk absolute shit about coronavirus? Definitely. He would 100% be the first person to be cured by HCQ though. What idiots like Trump don’t understand is that recovering from coronavirus while taking HCQ is not the same thing as being cured by it.

When you have cognitive dissonance you can spin anything you like.

See edit above. He recovered while taking HCQ/zinc. Not the same thing as cured by it. Did he have pancakes for breakfast? If so, pancakes “cure” covid too!
She was getting worse and worse for 4 days straight, went on the HCQ and got noticably better within 4 hours. Symptom free within a day.

But I'm not here to crush your beliefs. Pancakes it is.

Heh. Beliefs. That happens a lot when people don’t understand how science works. Belief trumps evidence. Anecdotes over data. Which is particularly ironic coming from someone who likes to urge people to “do your research”

The thought of the Trump family and the likes of Mitch McConnell, Bill Barr, Kayleigh McEnany and Tim Murtaugh all getting struck down by the virus is just too glorious to comprehend.

A UK trial suggested that HCQ showed no decrease in mortality compared to standard care.
That's in a trial of 3000 plus subjects.
Slightly higher than your individual case.

Did that study include zinc in the protocol? Otherwise it would be like shooting a gun without a bullet.

Not that I’m disagreeing with your overall meaning (that HCQ is not proven) but that trial was completely thrown out after they gave the participants a MUCH higher dose than the recommendation for that drug. Further studies in Belgium and Spain have shown that it could indeed have SOME effect at the right dose (ie - not going nuts with it!) but of course that’s all under peer review as well.

check out John Campbell’s video on the studies, it’s a good watch.

like I say though, I agree with what you’re trying to say, it’s just not an example that backs that up.

The irony is on you my friend. I'm not the one who berates others on 'understanding science' while having wasted a lifetime on a football forum. 103051 posts. That's probably worth 2 degrees in virology that were instead invested in trivial banter.

Do you reckon he'll try to beat it with no symptoms or go to hospital and be on death's door then miraculously come back before the election?

Feck off! The guy is scum and for someone who has flagrantly disregarded the virus and put the whole country at risk, he deserves everything he gets. You can do the moral stuff if you like. I’ll be dancing in the streets.

Couldn’t have happened at a better time and will be looking to see how he and his crronies talk about the virus now. I hope he gets a bad dose of
Boris has already had it mate, he hasn’t got it again has he?

... it's probably a play to cover up his white supremacist crap and how badly in the polls he did after the debate, Trump more than likely has the Coronaspurs than anything else.

It'll work out he'll quarantine for 14 days, approval polls will skyrocket thanks to sympathy piling in for him, rile up his base to come out and vote more because "the left" and like many in this thread are doing, celebrating "your President" being ill (despite it being a "hoax") and he'll beat the thing because the odds with coronavirus is now in his favor with a high survival rate and then claim it's no worse than the common cold, spin it all in positive towards him, drop all mask mandates and win the election on pity points.

That, or hail President Baghag Pelosi.
I strongly doubt it's a ploy. The positive test has been confirmed by his doctor. And then there will be other people involved in actually carrying out the tests. That's too many people who would all have to conspire in a deliberate lie - with the risk that any of them might spill the beans if it was a lie.

I also doubt that his approval polls will improve - far less skyrocket - as a result. The very last topic that Trump wants front and centre is the virus - especially when he's spent all this time trying to downplay its severity, distract attention onto other topics and pour scorn on Biden for wearing a mask all the time.

If anything it will boost Biden's argument that the virus is very serious issue, that Trump has been negligent and has no plan to deal with it.

Also, with only 4 weeks to go most voters have decided and are set in their views - so the polls aren't going to change much from now on either way.

I think it's bollocks. He'll "shrug it off" and beat his chest about how strong he is. That'll appeal to loads of idiots.

The only thing that makes me think it's probably true is that wont having this mean he cant attend his rallies?

And it's very clear that the only thing he really likes about being President is attending those rallies where people chant his name and tell him they love him.

I don't think he'd be willing to miss out on that.
