Boris has definitely become much more conscious of the threat of the virus after catching it. I reckon he would be considerably more gung ho about this second wave otherwise. I hope Trump - at the very least - has a similar experience.

To an extent it was inevitable, still a bit shocking that its happened to arguably the most powerful/important person in the world but whether its stupidity, arrogance, hubris hopefully people will see that behavioural issues/changes during the pandemic are so important in determining who gets this thing.
I'm sure it's nothing a couple of aspirin and a mug of hot bleach won't sort out.
Don't want to sound callous but like many posters I have to feel a bit skeptical about this, especially right after that shitshow. Bet he'll be just fine come election day.

Whereas if he pops up again in two weeks looking full of health and dismissing the virus as being overexagerrated then it could have the opposite effect, at least among his support base.
Obviously nobody here wants him to be seriously ill (obviously) but seeing the virus actually have a physical impact on him would probably be good for the public's attitude towards the virus.

Interesting how many people think he could be faking it, it hadn't crossed my mind initially but nothing would shock me with this guy.

Wouldn’t be the first to talk absolute shit about coronavirus? Definitely. He would 100% be the first person to be cured by HCQ though. What idiots like Trump don’t understand is that recovering from coronavirus while taking HCQ is not the same thing as being cured by it.

I have a close friend who got cured by it (in combination with zinc) within 24 hours in a hospital in Spain. But believe what you will.

That's in a trial of 3000 plus subjects.

Not that I’m disagreeing with your overall meaning (that HCQ is not proven) but that trial was completely thrown out after they gave the participants a MUCH higher dose than the recommendation for that drug. Further studies in Belgium and Spain have shown that it could indeed have SOME effect at the right dose (ie - not going nuts with it!) but of course that’s all under peer review as well.
check out John Campbell’s video on the studies, it’s a good watch.
like I say though, I agree with what you’re trying to say, it’s just not an example that backs that up.

It didn't... the majority government they elected for him to lead before COVID was even an issue enabled him to do that.
I strongly doubt it's a ploy. The positive test has been confirmed by his doctor. And then there will be other people involved in actually carrying out the tests. That's too many people who would all have to conspire in a deliberate lie - with the risk that any of them might spill the beans if it was a lie.
I also doubt that his approval polls will improve - far less skyrocket - as a result. The very last topic that Trump wants front and centre is the virus - especially when he's spent all this time trying to downplay its severity, distract attention onto other topics and pour scorn on Biden for wearing a mask all the time.
If anything it will boost Biden's argument that the virus is very serious issue, that Trump has been negligent and has no plan to deal with it.
Also, with only 4 weeks to go most voters have decided and are set in their views - so the polls aren't going to change much from now on either way.
