Klopp: We cannot change. I hear now that Manchester United had more penalties in two years than I had in five-and-a-half years. I’ve no idea if that’s my fault, or how that can happen."
The FA can punish managers for comments about referees in their media duties, but say they are allowed "provided they are not personal in their nature, imply bias or attack the integrity of the officials in charge of the match, or in any other respect bring the game into disrepute."
So, how does Klopp's comment not imply bias?
I’ve no idea if that’s my fault. This is obviously a rethorical remark - clearly he knows very well it's not his fault. But the operative word there is "fault". Because if it's anybody's fault, that means something untoward has happened. So, this is a sneaky claim of foul play, masquerading as humble self-questioning. Despicable.
or how that can happen. Implying that it shouldn't have happened, that the fact that it happened is in itself suspicious without needing any further justification, and that there is no good reason for it to have happened. Again masquerading as a soft, reasonable and open question.
This is just classic rethorical dark arts - you wish to establish that something is the case without argument and proof, you do so by just skipping that stage and ask why and how it can be that way. Pure shithousery.
