I thought he looked tired in the game against Villa and tonight he looked lethargic by his standards and his passing radar was way off.

Genuine 0/10 performance tonight. I guess he's allowed to have some of them after the year he's had for us.

That’s why just using stats to judge a player isn’t a fair way to judge a player. I love Bruno but I wonder how many of those ‘assists’ are defence splitting passes?

Bruno’s passing has been getting worst and worst lately, but he does often score that crucial goal for us, his influence in big games seems to be getting smaller.
A lot have been a square pass to a player that happened to score. I’d imagine the XG on his assists is much lower than his assists.
His xA this season in the PL are 5.9 which puts him 3rd in the league behind KDB (6.1) and Grealish in first with 6.4. Attacking players do tend to get more assists than expected generally but not significantly so.

Find it hard to criticise him but he hasn't done enough in the big games so far.

Maybe he tries too hard to be the man and just needs to relax a little?

I couldn't believe he fluffed that pass in the first half, that was really amateur. Hopefully he'll step up again against burnley.

Guy needs a break, no idea why Ole didn't take him off at 60 minutes as he wasn't contributing anything, I know you keep your difference makers on but he was clearly shot.

It seems Ole has no faith in the squad as bringing on Greenwood at 75 mins when chasing the game was 15 mins too late and VdB at 88 mins was just laughable.

As with others in the team, he's clearly mentally exhausted, if not physically. It was interesting to see how rarely he held on to the ball; every time he got the ball, it was immediately popped off as if he couldn't trust his feet should he be challenged.

I'd not even have him on the bench for the Watford game just to make sure he gets a full rest. Tell him to keep his feet up at home. Give the minutes to DVB or Mata - if nothing else we need to learn how to play without him just in case he gets injured.

Look tired, but...

There was the moment in the first half where Rashford was completely free on the right.

Couldn't he have played it normally instead of side footing it straight to the goalkeeper the way he did.

Stuff like that irritates me. There's no need to be so fancy about things. Get the pass, hit the target, end of story.

He's been running on fumes for a month. Really clearly too.

Needs Watford off, and then he'll have at least had 5 days between games.

Yeah that really got on my tits too, especially since could have gone ahead at a key moment

Worst game for us unfortunately, he's been the game changer for too long. Not enough stepping up. Groundhog day on set piece's from our CB's, costing us again. One of them things. Bruno has changed the club and he couldn't drag us back in to it. Best player at the club, move on.

He’ll get a rest if he wants. Apparently Ole will have a word with him to see if he’s okay to be dropped.

Well....we now know what rock-bottom looks like for Fernandes! Let’s hope we don’t see too many of those!

Looked hurried tonight as if the “get the ball forward quickly” message was causing him to rush and make mistakes

Completely off the boil last few games. Understand why Ole keeps him on though, he is the kind of player that can decide games even when he is invisible for 85min. But let`s get him some rest now until Liverpool game.

Awful awful performance.

Giving the ball straight back to City at every opportunity made the job really hard tonight.

He’s a bit like Scholes. Both had a shocking low level.

I’ve no problem with him posing the ball in attacking areas, but he does need to be better with the ball in our half.

having said that, it’s a bit off criticising our best player of the past 12 months.

Was awful, but unless that performance becomes a pattern I'm not going to criticize the guy.

The whole team weren't switched on, and allowed a relatively subdued City team make the win look easy.

Use of the ball today from Bruno was overcomplicated and often too risky. More likely to pass against the Scousers than this lot.

He was playing for City. At some point I was screaming 'don't pass to Bruno!' Should have been subbed off early.

He carries us and we are incredibly reliant on him. When he's having a bad game, you are dying for others to step up and put in a shift. The truth is that when he plays bad, we as a team play bad. Can't really see an immediate solution to that, except for the rest of the squad stepping up. Relying on one player in every game is not the best of strategies.

Didn't have assist or goal to mask his erratic passing. Needs to keep it simple more

That's just Ole being coy about selection ahead of the weekend. He won't ask Bruno's permission to rest him. I expect him to do the sensible thing and tell him to relax and get in shape for Burnley.

this is it. I like the guy, but people here ignore how inconsistent his passing is, even when he's supposedly having good games. He's productive, it's evident, but some aspects of his play are....well, not the best.

Yeah and the problem is there's no one in our team capable of getting into him when this happens

Diabolical tonight. When he's off, we suddenly look very much like the devoid-of-ideas, pre-Bruno United, which is quite worrying.

Not saying you're wrong but I don't remember that about Scholes. Was it less a feature of his post-eye injury years?

In terms of top players with a shockingly low level, Rooney would be the stand out in my mind.

Scholes had one the highest low levels I've seen.

He should not even be in the squad for the Watford. A clear rest for him is more than well deserved and frankly if we cannot beat Watford without him then we don't deserve to be in the cup anyway

Came here to say this. Can be magical at times, whilst at others making you want to pull you hair out. What he brings, just like Rooney, is too essential.

Interestingly enough, most of Scholes' teammates tended to say that it was the other way around, with him. In Schmeichel's autobiography, he specifically mentions Scholes' bottom level and how the fact that Scholes has a much higher bottom level than anyone at the club makes him world class.

Van Nistelrooy had something similar to say after we clinched the 2002-03 league title in which Scholes - as a midfielder - was the 2nd highest scorer, after Van Nistelrooy.

Agree with your overall point. We shouldn't be quick to lambast players who have played consistently well over the past year.

Great player

I know he can't be in form every game, but surely he needs to realize when it's not clicking, and keep it simple in such games. Keep the ball better, don't go for the through ball instantly.

Just be a man and tell him he needs a break because he's running on fumes and we need him back to full strength.

He's the manager, if he has to pander to the players it won't end well.

Was shockingly bad last night

invisible for most part and when he did feature his passes were limp, inaccurate and lazy.

His shots from 30-40 yards out were just
