And to think some of these clowns including Woodward have resigned their posts on the Uefa committee. Fecking happy days. We need to drive these cnuts out of our club now

David Ornstein arrives to dampen the mood:
We aren’t going to pull out. Woody and the Glazers have shown for a long time that they’re no good at reading what the fans of the club want. They’re going to go down swinging with this idea. United and Real will be the last two left in this.

Yanks think about money first and foremost and think that others also only think about money. They'll never get it. Never.
If one believes in science and is both male and American that is going to start a real tug of war between greed and uhm.... urges?

Hats off to Chelsea fans for their protests today. And good that Chelsea are retiring.

Great respect to Bayern Munich and Dortmund who could see the wrong thing in this league from the beginning. I will forever have respect for them for their courage and insight to dare to say no and risk standing outside this league.

Some reports saying United will pull out

Ornstein's as good a source as you're going to get in football journalism. Former head honcho at BBC sport, now with the Athletic.

punished for what exactly? proposing something that wasn't sanctioned and withdrawing
They didn't just propose it though, did they? They/people in their clubs were leaving organisations in preparation to begin this ESL.

Unfortunately, I don't see anything else but the clubs being forgiven and this being forgotten about. I'd also wish for these teams to suffer the consequences, but at this point, there's no legal standing for sanctions against them. We can only hope that the fans continue to voice their dismay at these owners/execs and ensure that they aren't forgiven.
I agree that this is likely what will happen but that's what I mean in terms of hoping they receive a bit more punishment. I don't think the fans will continue to punish them with voices of dismay, they'll forget about it next season.

What punishment would you like?

Something to push Everton up the table?
Every player and fan was vehemently against this so the punishment has to be directed at the board.
Which is fair, so distributing more of the PL money to the rest of the footballing pyramid and away from these parasites - exactly what they were trying to get away from with this ESL - would be beautiful.

This is what makes me convinced that this wasn’t just some negotiating ploy or anything like that, all those resignations. Surely they won’t be able to walk back into those jobs? I really do think this was just poorly thought out and the reaction to it was underestimated. I do not underestimate just how out of touch some of these people are.

This has been Ed's most embarrassing failure yet. And that says something. To come out with a shitty project like that which crumbled within a couple of days after it's confirmation surely means he has to go now? This guy is no longer nger bearable at this club. Glazers should be hunted out of the club as well.

Will be a shame if this falls apart by teams chickening out and withdrawing.

This was a real opportunity for the government to get involved and get rid of all these cnuts who have bought English football clubs over the last 20 years.
You had me in the first half....

But yeah we shouldn't be surprised that Chelsea have shit the bed. Them, City and PSG don't need the money or the hassle.

I follow a couple of techies, who were all for this. "Disruptive" they said.
Capitalism at it's most transparent; "...the next generation of fans don't like the sport so we must change it for the survival of the game..."

Small side note, we just so happen to profit obscenely from the solution to this "problem".

Please guys, take this example and use it whenever some shitehouse company from silicon valley tries to tell you they're "disrupting" something

If our share price went up after the ESL news broke I can't imagine that it will be doing particularly well after this evening's shenanigans.

Naive if you believe that.

Yanks as you put it have been sick to death of owners stripping towns and cities of their club identity and moving the franchises on. They are far more invested in their local college teams. Like us the real passion lies at grass roots level.

Money has no international boundaries, the wealth is concentrated among a few

"You and your paper can feck off."
How the feck are they going to backtrack on all the legacy fans stuff? The Glazers are DONE.
The same way they've ridden 16 years of saddling the club with mountains of debt and syphoning off millions in each of those years, by waiting for people (and especially the currently pearl clutching media) to inevitably get bored of protesting. Their family is set up for their lives and a dozen generations that come after them, off the back of this club, why would they give a toss about this now? Let alone enough to sell up and head back to the states for a penny less than the club's billions in market value.

Ye seemed to be one user simply promoting herself. None Of the usual suspects have backed up that “insider knowledge “

Whatever happens the view of United as a club will be forever tainted as one of the key players in this abomination. Not until the Glazers are frogmarched out of the corridors of power.
