It really was a disappointing display from him. I think he's very fortunate to have still been on the pitch up until the shootout, as he quite easily could have been hooked in an effort to win the game in the 90 mins. In a final, you need to perform, and he just didn't.

His ability in tight spaces isn't of the required standard, hence he's effective when there's space to run into. He will score goals and get assists, but he'll never have the close control and dribbling of the likes of Giggs, Ronaldo and even a Nani. He's been crap for a long time with the odd assist or goal papering over the cracks. Against teams who close off the space, he's not good enough.

We need a left sided attacker to put pressure on him, rather than add another one on the right IMO.

Greenwood is twice the player Rashford is. I would've started Mata on the right.

Worst performance ever by a United player in a final i think. Poor Carrick in Rome even looked interested

Spot on. I think if we get Sancho it’ll be Rashford benched not Greenwood.

Why play him if he's injured? I heard Ole asking him if he was okay in extra time. He contributed nothing. Why leave him on if he's not 100%? Made a lot of bad decisions in possession today. Kept coming inside, which helped Villarreal compress the space at the back. Didn't do enough off the ball running or get round the outside enough. Worst showing from him I can remember.

Absolute shite..only thing worse is the fact he lasted the whole game...Awful performance compounded by awful management not addressing it

We'll get Sancho and he'll start on the right with Greenwood on the bench. It'll take about 20 games for ole to realise that the better thing to do is put Sancho on the left, Greenwood on the right and 'Rashy' on the bench

Him playing 90 mins is one of the reason why Ole is clueless. Foyth had him in his pocket all throughout the game yet he wanted to take the full back on.

He was having a mare yet he changes Greenwood and not this guy.

He was not offside when he missed that absolute sitter was he? I've never seen anything like it. Harder to miss than score there. Absolute rubbish he was.

Been awful for months and starts. Mind boggling. Most people could see that performance coming tonight.

Most of his decent performances come off the bench. That should be his role. The guy is regressing at a rate of knots. Shit touch. Can’t even drop a shoulder.

Really hoped he could kick on, but he's so inconsistent. Just not good enough to make a dent tonight. His touch is so inconsistent at times he can be a liability when he's not on a hot streak which is more often than not these days. He shouldn't be starting for England either in the Euros, in crunch games he just poses more of a risk than a threat.

Is he shagging Ole or Ole's missus so he doesn't have to? Only explanation I have as to why this joker is not only starting games but also staying on the pitch when looking like a pub footballer

Finals like this should be enjoyed, a show case for your skill. Rashly looks deeply unhappy throughout, summed up his season running into brick walls. Had one good chance and fluffed it.
The most disappointing player tonight.. leave the politics alone and concentrate on your game fella.
ole should have subbed him and left greenwood on who is a bigger goal threat.

Rubbish perfomance. Trying useless shots, running head down into defenders. Badly needs some competition.

Ole has to take the blame for playing him all the time despite him being consistently horrible lately. Genuinely would pick James, Donny, Mata anyone before him on this form and not just based on this game.

Ole seems frightened to take him off, this whole idea of leaving him on because he might do something no matter how badly he's playing is ludicrous, he was awful tonight yet Amad couldn't even get 15 minutes.

Been said time and time again. The guy is extremely overrated. Moody, sulky, and can't seem to be bothered until the pressure is on.
Why the club holds this high in extremely high regard and as their next big hope is amazing. Greenwood will turn out to be the better player.

Greenwood is better now. Rashford is regressing by the week. His woe-is-me look is getting boring. He’s an impact sub.

When they showed the close-up of Ole saying "Marcus are you ok?" In ET I didn't know if I wanted to laugh or cry.

Is he legitimately injured then? His agent should be telling him to sack off the Euros shit and get the surgery.

When was the last time he faked going wide and take a wicked shot at goal, I mean today he did that once and shot wide but one of his biggest mistakes, now he's only about playing walking and waiting for Shaw to overlap. I really want him to do well but he needs to get a grip and to be benched by someone Sancho, Grealish or Pogba and Greenwood to finally wake up. Lost all the drive which made him that player dicussed in the same sentence with Mbappé.

"Martial...He's isolated Skrtel here..."
I'm crossing my fingers that maybe it's all just a physical thing, but honestly he's basically a less technical/lower ceiling Nani with more playing time and a bigger role in the side at this point. I don't think that type of player is someone you can build a top side around.

If Sancho comes in and lights it up like I would expect, and Greenwood continues his ascent, then serious questions have to be asked from Ole or it'll be his downfall in my opinion.

Rashford still plays like a youth player he has gone backwards in recent years...drastically...and those blaming fictitious ‘injuries’ is embarrassing to the club. He’s selfish and out of his depth at this club.

I've commented in this thread 2/3 times before, every time saying his goal contribution in the game has covered for the fact he plays atrociously.

A few members have replied disagreeing with my comments, anyone care to argue otherwise this time?

I really don't understand why Ole refused to sub him.

Always bottles it on the big occasions.

Last season against Sevilla and now Villarreal this season.

Shite performance only thing of note was his shot lead to the Cavani goal.

Might have watched a different game to most but what did Greenwood do that seems to be getting him such high praise? Thought the all attack from Pogba, Bruno etc where utter trash
