Foden doesn’t play the same way. He’s a final third player. Pedri is more of a player who can skip about in midfield passing it around. He’s got more Modric/Iniesta vibes to him. Pedri is certainly ending up a central midfielder in a 3, Foden is predominantly a wide left playmaker.
Yes that is true about Pedri and there are differences in their games for sure. Foden could play that role though, IMO.

He got just one year on his contract, We should use Mata to negotiate with the player and bring him to UTD even it cost us 60+M..This guy is pure Iniesta.

One year left on his deal, clubs should be all over this if he isn’t 100% committed to Barca.
He is 100% committed to Barca. Iniesta is his all time favourite player and who grew up a massive fan of the club.

He's only 18. Woodward should visit him with a Disneyland keychain and just jingle it in front of his face.

Are Barca committed to him in the sense that they'll give him at least half of what he could earn elsewhere? I know he's not leaving, but they may take those youth products for granted, what with their reckless running of the club.

I think so if I’m being honest. The hype for him is crazy in Spain, and as Messi is wining down I’m sure Pedri is seen as the future for his position.

It's crazy that he's only 18. Dominating every game in midfield and playing brilliant passes. Barca with De Jong and Pedri will be dominant in midfield before long again. Need to get a long term Busquets replacement too but so good between those 3.

Laporta already mentioned that they are working on a contract improvement for him.

18 year old Pedri vs Switzerland

111 touches
5 key passes (most)
6/6 accurate long balls
84/92 accurate passes
6/10 duels won
5 tackles
2 interceptions (via @SofaScoreINT)

Thought it was his “worst” game in this Euros. Wasn’t as impressive as in other matches, but the stats are still solid.

Pedri, Fati and Garcia will be the bedrock of Barca for the next decade
I know coaches praise Garcia's reading of the game, but Pique really a quality athlete for his size early in his career, and I don't see that from Garcia. Seems very much like a #2 CB not a #1.

Funny how much hype there is surrounding Foden and then you watch this kid put in some veteran-like performances.

Foden is a good talent but he isn't the best 21 or under player for England even. Sancho is a much better player than him right now based on what they've each shown in their careers, and Sancho was rated by many even higher than Foden when they were at City together. And they're the same age. Bellingham is 3 years younger though and the bigger talent IMO between himself and Foden (in terms of long term potential). Plus he's an actual midfielder, Foden is a forward.

Pedri is on a different planet to any of the young midfielders though. Bellingham, Camavinga, whoever. The kid is incredible, how he's played at his age.

Plus nutmegs thrown in on at least one pass. Genuinely amazing he’s 18, any club with money should be all over him in case Barca need the cash.

Given Barca's financial situation, we should offer them £50m plus taking Griezemann just to help alleviate their salary issues. Two players off their books and £50m seems fair to me.

His value must be pretty high right now, sounds like just the player for Barca to sell, so they can afford to renew/register Messi.

I would put Bellingham equal to Foden. The 2003 generation is close to the 2000 generation, but I personally had the top tier of 2000 as better (via numbers). For example, I didn't have Musiala in that same tier as Bellingham. But those generations were the best throughout Europe and so Foden being slightly below Sancho at the time is no knock in terms of talent. England were pretty ridiculous with that 2000 generation.

Brilliant player, who elevates the build up phase, which is remarkable at his age and the level he's playing at.

Barca should sell him to get that money to pay Messi.

Or maybe Messi is already texting Laporta if he is still important or not...

I actually tried to recall a central midfielder performing with that level of consistency at the age of 18, but I came up empty. Sure there have been many wonderkid midfielders before, but they nearly always played in more advanced roles (wide or as CAM) with far more liberty to make mistakes.

To run the midfield in the middle of the pitch with that much composure and quality in a Euro Semi Final? Pretty much unheard of. Unless he gets his development disrupted by injuries, the lad will be in the top group of CMs for the next 15 years or so.

We should just put in a cheeky bid since Barcelona is in such desperate need of funds.

Fabregas was doing this. Different sort of player, but the composure and quality was also there from him at a very similar age

Fabregas was a mercurial talent but what Pedri’s shown here is next level. Agree with Enrique it was a bafflingly good performance.

Think Fabregas is a great comparison, he was one of the best midfielders in a PL with Gerrard, Scholes, Lampard etc. Pedri is awesome, Barcelona should be doing much better with Pedri and Frenkie. At our side some are still trying to argue that Fred is the one..
