I think CR7 coming might be good for him in a way. Will take the focus off him for a while, and hopefully he adjusts by then.

Is he lacking fitness, or does he not have pace at all?

I did think that the expectations were a bit too high, I always expect a bit of period to settle before judging anything, especially for young players.

He does need to get used to the physicality though, and this season they are even more lenient so he will need to adapt. He has talent though so not worried.

Bundesliga is an absolutely garbage league that tends to be overrated on here, always has been.

Sancho will be fine, though. He’s a clever player with good technical attributes. I think he'll link up well with Ronaldo and/or Cavani eventually.

I didn't see the match, but disappointed to hear he didn't perform well. I never expected him to be amazing from the start but hearing him being compared to James is certainly not encouraging. Early days though so hopefully he gets going soon! All I can say is thank for for Mason and Ronaldo coming in!

From what I have seen of him, his game is not based on pace - he doesn't have much but he's not slow. He is a creator and gets into good positions to score goals. I have always said I don't think he is as good as he is made out to be but since he is here I hope he finds his niche within our squad. I think for starters, he needs to build some strength and playing consistently will help develop confidence although I don't think he is going to get that here.

I know it's one game so I will be patient -

But that free ability behind German defenders vs English teams are night and day.
Makes you wonder if Haaland is worth those 800K in wages. Not saying he's not class, but maybe not worth those wages.

Typical from players coming from Bundesliga. Needs time to adapt. No need to panic
He’s never impressed for England either though. Maybe it’s not that he’s struggling to adjust outside Bundesliga, and instead he just found a very happy home in Dortmund?

Clearly not match fit and all that. Lets reserve judgement until he's truly fit. What I will say is I've always doubted the theory of him playing on the right, I'm sure I've raised it on here a long time ago. You can see he's baller though, technically he's great.

You can see the guy isn't fit, and we have options, give him a couple weeks and some games with the home crowd cheering him on and he'll be fine.

I would not exclude that but i hope it is not the case here. Time will tell.

I always think I will never take BL seriously, and even less so after watching Werner, Havertz and Sancho disappointing display in PL (so far). The gap is huge between the 2 leagues.
But still hope Sancho will get better after settling.
Havertz has been doing well now.

And I hope you're not one of those people who underrates Lewandowski because of BL. I remember how often people called him overrated and flat-track bully, and they only shut up when he finally won the UCL in 2020.

He will be fine. And I am glad the focus is off him anyway as Varane and now Ronaldo have kind of completely overshadowed his signing. So pressure should be off, he will show his quality soon enough.

He had a good start in an England shirt, but again I feel Southgate has misused him.

Today he was utter, utter shite. But I think he needs to settle with the different pace is all. Havertz took a long time but his class is showing more and more, and it did so post Tuchel.

How many players actually impress for England? Very few. Think this is a very unfair assumption after a handful of matches.

So frustrated that he didn’t start from the right today. Supposed to be what balances out our attack. Hope this changes.

And martial looked energetic when he came on on the left. The 2 of them in the attack with cavani/ronaldo, could be interesting

Looks like he needs some time, not just to get adjusted to the League and the team, but also fitness wise

You watch him and you see that he's got the technique but his reaction time is just too slow. The PL is a frantic league, Varane looked shaken at first then adjusted and Sancho too will have to do just that. He shouldn't expect defences with CBs on the half way line here, or teams giving him time and space to pick a pass. He'll come good though, i don't doubt his quality. Also looks like he's not as fast as i thought or is he just reluctant to use his speed?

Where are all the twats that wanted us to spend £108m on him last summer? To make it worse, it seems like he plays better on the left. He’s not all that pacey either. Anyway Greenwood should cement that slot on the right, ronaldo down the middle and rashford on the left. Hope he likes the bench. This should also show people just how good rashford is.

Why even make any judgements, it's too early. He's not 100% fit, he barely knows this team/league, he just needs some time. He is a world-class talent and I expect that to show over time.

Haaland as well as Sancho were also great in the CL, against top teams. I think both are quality but we forget how young they are. Especially Sancho will need some time but he's obviously very talented.

Can forgive young players playing badly but he looked really lazy and reminded me of Rashford in bad games where he thinks he doesn't have to track back.

Anyone who thought he'd come here and enjoy the acres of space he got in the Bundesliga must be deluded. Watch one of his highlights videos and be amazed at the amount of time he got there over and over again.
Sancho will never be anywhere near Messi, but
I remember lots of PL fans using the same argument to discredit Messi (and to discredit Xavi and Iniesta too, and also to put Cristiano Ronaldo above Messi), specially because before the 2009 final against United, Messi had yet to score against an english team, and had underwhelming performances against Chelsea in the semis of that UCL. They said that Messi and Barcelona couldn't make it against "real" defenses. I know this because I looked at comments from back then. And like many users here, who criticize Bundesliga without ever watching the games and the players, the people criticizing Messi and Barcelona back then also didn't watch La Liga and saw it as being beneath them. English press arrogantly saw United as favorites to win the 2009 UCL final. I know how in every fecking thread about Messi back in his early prime (2009-2013), you couldn't show any great Messi skill and goal without english fans immediately jumping to add caveats and saying "but look at all the ridiculous space and time spanish teams give to him, it wouldn't be the same in PL"

All I can say is that it's worrying. He's a good nifty player but seems nothing special at the moment. Can not beat his man with skills or pace - physically looks weak.

Sanchez was great for Arsenal but horrible for United.
Di Maria was great for every team he played for accept for United.
Torres was a Ballon Dor contender for Liverpool but looked like the spanish Werner for Chelsea, i could go on and on.

Nobody struggles because he plays in the Premier League, but some players struggle to adapt to a new team, new tactics etc. Just like Hazard in Spain.

If United signed Sanchez from Dortmund instead of Arsenal you would claim he couldnt deal with the amazing EPL defenders.

Tbf all young players from a different league will need time to adjust. Havertz came good in the 2nd half of last season.
Being English the expectations are just higher on Sancho to adjust immediately. Ole will need to persist with him for a while, just like Chelsea did with havertz.

Have people forgotten Sancho's age? Not only does he need time to settle in a new team, but he will improve the more he gets experience in the PL.

I knew this would happen because of the price tag, which is why I was heavily against it when Dortmund wanted £100m+. People expect Sancho to be a Ballon D'or contender almost immediately, which is unrealistic.

Sad to see some people are already writing him off. There's a different pressure at United, that's why young players prefer to go to Dortmund etc, you wont be called a flop after one underwhelming performance.

Hope he tears it up soon, and lots of those posts are quoted

Ronaldo coming in is a massive advantage to Sancho, as it'll take a huge amount of the pressure off him while he eases in.

Only a clown would write him off after 1 start, in a game we barely had any decent ball in the opponent half.

If he signed in 2017, we would be hanging all our hopes on him, and he would be under immense pressure.

Now he knows if he doesnt perform, he has Bruno, Ronaldo, Rashford, Pogba, Cavani and Greenwood picking up the slack.

That's good.

Yeah, Ronaldo signing should help Sancho. All the focus is on Ronaldo, if Rashford recovers quickly then Sancho can take bit of time as we have good options.

Had family over so I watched the game in sporadic chunks so can’t cast too much judgment. That said, the whole team looked disjointed so I’m not sure how people expect him to just come in and tear it up. When the team finds it’s groove, he’ll find his.

I think some people are not understanding just how different the Premier League is to every other league in the world. It is frantic and players have so little time on the ball. There will undoubtedly be a period of time needed for players to adjust. Patience needed!
