Pep simply doesn't know that City do not have any more fans. You can invest another 50 billion in it and it will still be a small club with no history. Fans are built over time, not brought with oil money.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"
Let’s call a spade a spade. It was a dig at Ole as much as anything. Then you proceeded to tell everyone how much of an unmitigated disaster he would be if he managed City, when in all seriousness he could just as easy win the league with them seeing as, you know, he came second last year with an inferior squad.
I have him on ignore, complete tool.

I don’t want the Caf to be Rawkish and delete posts they decide aren’t fair but the mods could easily warn SC (and a few others) for repeatedly having a go at Ole in EVERY FECKING THREAD?

If you hate Ole so much, (1) keep the posts in Ole threads (2) try and show a little balance or better still (3) just feck off.

It’s up to Niall ultimately but yeah negativity needs to stop. feck me, lose your shit when it’s actually justified and not in a random thread.

What’s kind of depressing is that United-fans are mocking the «empty» stadium, because lord knows we can’t take challenge them on anything else these days. I’d love 55.000 at Old Trafford and 10 trophies the last few seasons - we have lots of tourists from Korea and Scandinavia and zero trophies - as well as a very poor atmosphere every game. Over time of course, City will fill the stadium as they get new fans every single day.

And that guy commenting on behalf of the City-fans, jeesh what an absolute snowflake. Probably saying stuff like that to get an invite to the stadium, meet the players and take a few photos.
Bollocks. They are an empty shell of a club. And we have the best squad we have had since Fergie left.

I'd rather not have fake sponsorships, financial doping and human rights abusing owners thank you very much.

Agreed. I genuinely would not swap being owned by that shower for the trophies they have won. The reason they cant sell out the stadium regularly is because any right minded person see's City for what they are; a club that has had it's soul hollowed out by a little rich boy who wants to sports-wash his family's grubby reputation. As much as I hate the Glazer's, they have not been able to take the soul from United.

Where are these new fans though? They have been successful over the past decade and I'm not seeing them. I moved to England from Ireland 5 years ago, my job takes me round every major city in England, and the kids I see are wearing United, Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal, and Chelsea tops. I've barely ever seen a City top outside of Manchester. I'm back and forth from London constantly, not a city top in sight. Every time I'm in Manchester I see way more United tops than City tops. So where are they? The fact of the matter is, City will never have the pulling power due to manufactured success and little history, and the new generation of fans and the generations, that follow will most likely support the aforementioned teams, because their dads/older brothers/people with influence support them, and this will continue to be case.

From Bluemoon:

"A plastic scouse (a yank) mentioned this to me last night in my pub. Only had the slightest interest in football, but had still heard of ‘Pep having a go at fans’. So the media narrative does get through to everyone remotely interested in the sport.
I explained that i did not care about numbers and admitted that Liverpool and the rags have far larger support bolstered by tourists and people with no connection to the area. We have support where the vast majority are local or with local connections who have stuck with the club through thin and thinner and are now enjoying our lottery win and the best football ever seen. I dread the day that my club gets infested with narrow minded losers who just want to be in with the herd and reflect on associated glory. Rather have empty seats …. and would you like ice with that?"

Did you watch the video? he literally says what people are implying he said is not what he said...
He said he’s not apologising for what he said because people have interpreted it the wrong way, so he stands by what he said originally.

They don’t deserve Pep. I feel sorry for Pep now, I would be fuming being told like that if I am the manager of the club.

Ole at City would be a disaster as he’d have to bench 2 of De Bruyne, Foden, & Grealish to play his formation. Sterling would play every minute for the counter attack & the double pivot of Fernandinho & Rodri every game would limit them creatively. He would have them battling for top 4.

It’s not underhanded. Im saying their fanbase don’t deserve the football they get. We do. Hence why I’d happily swap.
Might as well go the blue forums, as you belong there more than here.

edit - replied to wrong post

I live just outside of Newcastle and you see loads of City tops up here, go to footie training with my youngest and I'd say there are more City tops than Liverpool, Chelsea, probably on a par with United.

Strange club
Had this discussion with some twit on Twitter once. He stopped responding when I asked for a comment on this:
According to Greater Manchester Police figures, there was an average difference of 7,482 between the official attendance given by the club and the actual numbers recorded there in 12 games the police attended in the first half of last season [2017/18]
That's a significant difference, and it's hilarious that the club and supporters are pretending as if we can't all see the swathes of empty seats.

That same article has this to say about United:
...the difference between United and GMP for games at Old Trafford was precisely 0

Our atmosphere at the Bridge is usually poor apart from the Matthew Harding end and the shed, but City's is ridiculous. They just never seem to sell out. I could be wrong of course, but every time i ever watch them, theres empty seats everywhere.

Wasn't he referring to the lack of support in the ground rather than the lack of supporters?

I may have misconstrued what he was saying, but I think he was maybe getting at having louder, more vociferous support rather than the sedate hollow support they currently have?

Vociferous atmosphere also requires numbers, not that I disagree with your post, but just sayin.

City fans really would prefer to be in the league one play off final then be winning the title every other year. If you can't sell out a poxy little ground when your one of the best teams in the country you really do have a tiny fan base.

He said he’s not apologising for what he said because people have interpreted it the wrong way, so he stands by what he said originally.
Including people saying he was having a go at the fans which he said he wasn't...

The fans actually deserve a bollicking for Wednesday in truth and a bigger one for the fools who issued the response to Pep because they can't accept we're not as big as clubs like United and Liverpool but what Pep said wasn't it. It was more akin to Keane's prawn sandwich brigade comment.
