Mo Salah

I know. Lewandowski is the best striker in terms of efficiency and numbers, his athleticism is off the charts, built like a Spartan. The guy scores 50 goals a season, no joke.

But I prefer watching Salah. His game is more well rounded than either Mbappe or Lewa. Passing, touch, goals too. I can only think of Messi/Neymar when I see him play.
The key selling point with Salah is his consistency in scoring and important ones too. He is also strong and has a great touch and passing as you say but his game is not well rounded than Lewa. I know he has started the season very very impressively but it was not long ago when he was not great particularly when Liverpool struggled last season, when they were loosing games. Also there was a time when Mane was the one doing much of the work but Salah’s scoring ability masked his below par all round performances. This was not too far back.

Comparing a wide attacker to a center forward may not be very easy to do. For example would you put St-Maxim (Newcastle) ahead of Lukaku (Chelsea) even though one may be more aesthetically pleasing to the eye than the other?

I think you are hyping Salah in putting him ahead of Lewa. Lewa has been at the forefront in Europe for a long long time whilst Salah has been one of the best players in England which is great but not justifiably great as to put him ahead of the ageing man.

City started off with Nasri's and Robinhos before they got got De Bryunes etc.

I think Salah is a bit too high straight away.

This isn't any small billionaire country ruler. This is the biggest shit out there, literally and literally. He, Bin Salman, will shit in our mouths and we will have to say it's great.

Heck if he can shit in our mouths about a clear cut case of international murder, who the feck are FIFA, PL, etc? Not even a dodgy car accident, or poisoning. Just walk into an embassy and chop the poor guy up.

But yeah, FFP...ooooh.

Salah has been one of the best players in Europe there's no doubt about it. He dragged that team to the CL final, got injured and Liverpool folded. Then they eventually win it. Then they win the PL after 30 years. Klopp got so lucky with him. Take the Salah x factor and that team doesn't compete at the highest levels.

Mane is very good and a hard worker but that's it. He doesn't come close to Salah. Salah plays by instinct only. Or he doesn't care and just walks.

I am not comparing Salah to Mane. Clearly there’s only one winner here but I’m just saying that there was a period when it was debatable. Salah was still scoring but his all round performance wasn’t all that. There is no evidence that Liverpool would win Real Madrid that day if Salah was on the pitch. Take last season for example when VVD was unavailable, the impact to Liverpool was greater than the impact of any other Liverpool player in this Klopp era. In fact there was a spell last season when all Liverpool attackers were meh including Salah.

Salah’s indeed is one of the best players in Europe but if you’re putting him ahead of Lewy there has to be a basis. Lewy is like the number one center forward in Europe today. Salah has done well in Europe alright but ask yourself sincerely, what is the basis of putting him ahead of Lewy? He is in KDB’s bracket of talents even though I think based on form Salah is ahead right now but Lewy has had a consistency over the years that Salah can aspire for.

The argument that Salah is playing in a weaker Liverpool team and if he were in the Bayern side, he’ll do even better is speculation, nothing more. As we have seen over the years, players that make that upward movement don’t always have it good. Hazard springs to mind. His injuries have caught up on him, you may say. However he is not the first to get injured. People get injured and recover and pick up from where they left off, this has not been the experience with Hazard. Personally I think Liverpool with the likes of VVD, Allisson, Salah, Mane, Thiago, Fabinho, Robertson, etc have one of the strongest core in Europe. I know it is a relatively thin squad but if the players are able to do their magic of not getting injured for forever, they are just as good as most teams in Europe.

Right now as things stand, Lewy is ahead of Salah. Although based in form I’d say Salah is my number one player in English at this time.

You forgot to mention Salah is a fantastic diver, certainly an art in its own right.

His consistency with great numbers and capability of individual brilliance is unrivalled right now.

I know he had that big goalscoring season before but this season is by far the best I've seen him in general play.

Sensational player. Can't believe how good of a player he has been for Liverpool, probably the best Premier League signing since Cantona for us.

Brilliant player. Hopefully he leaves after this season.

Better than Robben ?
Not better at his top level, but much more reliable I think. Robben sadly was to injury-prone, while Salah isn't. If I had to build a squad, I'd take Salah over Robben for that reason alone.

If he keeps this up, he's definitely solidifying himself in the highest tier for wide forwards alongside Henry, Ronaldo and Robben. He's playing like a ballon-level player at the moment and proving that crazy season he had isn't a one-off.

Heads will roll if he scores one of those wonder goals against us.

Looks like we are witnessing his prime, unplayable this season.

I wonder how would people rate prime Neymar, prime Bale, prime Hazard and prime Salah in order. I know how deluded Liverpool fans would, so I want takes of resident Utd fans :smirk:

What he does in the CL will determine a lot, and also how long he maintains his current level. He does it against the biggest teams in the world over the course of the season, and it'll be a very different conversation to now.

Arguably the best forward in world football right now!

He's more than that. He's the best player on the planet on current form. Messi hasn't hit his usual levels, and Lewandowski is close but he isn't this good.

He might shatter the premier League goalscoring record while ending up among the top assist getters.

I would love to hear the undeluded fans suddenly realising Salah even exists this season. Here's a fun fact I heard on radio. Salah has not won a player of the month since April 2018. Yes that's not a typo.

Ronaldo won it last month. Long may the non-delusion around Utd continue.

Prime Neymar
...
Very tough to separate the rest. The fact that I like Bale & Hazard a lot more than Salah doesn't help. If he keeps up what he's doing this season than I think it would be fair to put him ahead of those two.

You're so incredibly soft, getting butt-hurt over a PL player of the month award

Most Utd fans recognize Salah's quality, but he seems to have gone up a level this season. Hence, the question.

And, yes. Liverpool fans are a different breed. There's little point asking their opinion when it comes to these sort of comparisons, because they'll always put Liverpool player at the top. Knowing you, you'd probably put racist gnasher as a better PL player than Ronaldo. So there's not much point ;)

No way. Peak Bale was a great player and better than Hazard, Salah. Real Madrid won 4 CL's with Bale.

Main question is between Neymar and Bale for me. I rate Bale as the best of the four, with Salah in 3rd behind Neymar.

Hazard is 4th, I've always found him to be incredibly overrated personally.

You're crying in a thread about Mo Salah on a United forum that's full of his praise?

He might be at the stage where he's finally good enough for Chelsea. Maybe he comes home, plays a season as a sub learning from Werner and Lukaku and he might make it.

Prime Neymar >>>>>> Prime Salah >>Prime Bale >>>>>>> Prime Hazard
