Ignoring all the McT vs Pogba, McT was in the position to help the defense. Lindelof was pulled wide to LB position and there was a huge space in the middle of the pitch. Pasalic was making the run into the space vacated by Lindelof. McT sensed it and he dropped into CB position.

Lindelof wonders, as his known to do - I’ve given up on this guy. Which means one of the ‘defensively aware’ midfield need to drop in. McT does this & Palasic ghosts in behind him for McT to only react when it’s far too late.

Lindelof shouldn’t be out a Left Back. Shaw should close the crosser. Maguire should drop further to try to be in line with the cross. Fred as usual has attempted & failed a tackle meaning he’s out of position to actually help & McT when covering for Lindelof needs to be far more aware of Passaic.

There are a number of issues with the first goal, you’re correct McT drops but after checking over his shoulder approaching the box he does nothing else, Palasic ghosts in behind him with no real effort.

His role is to provide legs & be defensively alert, I just don’t see it with him.

I've been saying this for ages, use him as a super sub. He's very good at it, especially when we're pushing.

Third point in the thread is EXACTLY what I came to say. Games he didn’t start then came on to help win from a losing/drawing position actually count against him.

Pogba alongside anyone doesn't work. Pogba is an atrocious DM in a 2.

McFred is not good enough, they're basically 2 players that do the role of 1.

Donny doesnt play

Matic cant run.

Unless we change formation or actually try and play Donny, our central midfield will rumble on being disjointed and full of flaws.

Fred is the only central midfield player for me with any credit, and he's more suited to an 8 than a 6. He has much more to give than a holding player. He wasn't a holder for Shakhtar, he is not a holder for Brazil. We are using him as a DM as we have no other options, but it's not his best role.

Pogba for me, cannot play DM for us. We always fair worse.

Fred and Donny have to be given a chance. Pogba can be used as a sub/impact from the left. Issue is there he'd be third choice LW behind Rashford and Sancho - who are actually attacking players.

It doesnt matter which pair we play, we're leaving them on a island and hoping they can cover more people in that area. We have to play a 3 at some point.
