One of the things Standing in the way of VDB‘s opportunities and completely not justifying his selection again.

Also Pogba’s inability to play around a press is a massive weakness in the modern game, if he was playing in Serie A in the 1990s and pinging from deep it like Veron under no pressure that would be fine but when you compare to players like Verratti, Modric or Frenkie De Jong for that, he’s found desperately lacking.

Tonight Atalanta targeted him from the start it was obvious. Why? Because they’ve seen what happens to him in that situation before. He’s a liability for it.
Great point, the way football is moving, players like Pogba are more and more a liability.

He looks heavy to me right now. Not mobile at all.
If he won’t sign then feck him off immediately.

offers very little football wise and I don’t care if he is Anderson reincarnated in the dressing room we shouldn’t pay 400 pw for a cheerleader

We all know he has incredible talent, a very quick eye for the insightful pass and has some amazing skills, but despite some of these “world class” attributes, he has never really been a “world class” player.

If you can only turn it on from time to time and only produce superb performances in a a single handful of games a season, then you are not a top player.
This is Pogba’s 6th season with us (since his return) and he’s only had one really productive season In that time.
As well as the enduring inconsistency, he’s spent a large part of his time with us being a liability, not an asset.

He’s nearly 29 and should be at the peak of his career, but he’s far off that.
There’s no chance he can turn things around now, even with a new manager in charge.
He’s slow, sloppy, lacks mobility and is lackadaisical.
I’ve heard him described as both an awkward lanky giraffe wearing concrete boots and as knackered old oil tanker with a broken propeller that struggles to manoeuvre or turn. Both sound quite apt.

Utd lost their chance to sell him, even for a modest fee and at least recuperate some money to invest in new players.
He’s going to walk for free, so the sooner he goes, the better.

That was a real shocker of a performance tonight. Casual and disinterested.

He tried his best to let us conceded more.

I love his hold up and dribbling with the ball further up the pitch. I am never sure why he feels the need to keep holding up 3 incoming players while trying to feel the ball for a good 5 seconds at the edge of our own penalty box.

It would be lucky for him to be at United or any big team next season with the wage he would demand.

We got to be honest here, the guy will be gone shortly so why not just play Donny instead? The insistance of playing Paul will now instead end up in both him and Donny wanting out.

Playing Pogba deep is suicide, he just doesn’t have the brain for it or the work rate. He just doesn’t fit this team at all, time to move on.

I was in awe of him as he came through the youth system. I bought an away shirt, blue and black striped, with his name and number (42) on the back. I remember boasting to my mate (Arsenal fan) that we had a kid in our academy who was going to be better than Wilshere. He laughed, but I was certain. I was devastated when he left and overjoyed when he returned.

Now though, I have no idea why we are playing him. He is leaving in the Summer and probably has agreed terms with a club already. He should be training with the reserves.

This dude has not positional sense or awareness on our side of the field.
He wants to get paid big bucks but doesn’t play like one.

100%
Donny will no doubt be lacking confidence, will be seriously short of competitive match practice and has everything to prove to justify getting into a starting line-up or to become a regular selection.
But at least he has the possibility of coming good and becoming a positive asset for the team.
We have nothing to lose and everything to gain by putting him ahead of Pogba and others in midfield.
If it doesn’t come off, then so be it.

Pogba on the other hand, has proven without doubt that he’s of no use to this team going forward from here.
He has nailed on form ….and not in a good way.
There is nothing more going to come from him than we’ve seen already.

Graham Souness not looking so silly tonight is he?

He's been spot on all along. What good is having natural talent with the attitude and desire he shows most of the time? Souness always maintained he's got the ability but he lacks just about everything else required.

But he's a former player for the vermin so nobody wanted to listen and agree with him. Some still don't.

Paul Pogba will never ever make it here even if we change the manager 5 more times. He's just too error prone and bone idle to make it in this league.

Agree 100%. Withdraw the contract offer and make him train with the reserves for the rest of the season. Not fair giving him minutes that could go to VdB instead. We know what we get with Pogba by now. He’s a liability. At least vDB might turn out to be a decent member of the squad.

The commentator called him arrogant at one point. It was when he over dribbled and Zapata almost scored but Bailly blocked it. I don’t know what he was thinking but the commentator was spot on. Weirdly arrogant for a player who has so many flaws in his game.

Its always been the case. His teammates and the club have taken the blame for his lack of intensity and interest for far too long. At best It’s like playing with a man down in about half his games, at worst he’ll cost you games and goals. It’s just not good enough. Devastating attacking player on his day. More often are the days he’s sloppy, self indulgent and slow. He regularly goes missing in games we need him the most too and is self indulgent and ponderous when we need him keyed up.
Sadly, this all true.

I said his contract situation would pressure Ole to play him despite his abject performances and here we are. Had no business being in the squad today never mind on the pitch. Meanwhile Donny is rotting.

If he ends up signing a new contract I will be majorly pissed off. Think if I had the choice of getting rid of Pogba or Solskjaer in January I'd pick Pogba and I really want Solskjaer replaced.
Guy has never done it for us on a consistent level, constantly dawdles on the ball in midfield and opposition managers have been targeting this for years. Agree with those who say he should have been sold years ago.

I wouldn't go that far - Ole is our biggest problem (well after the Glazers of course.) But Pogba does need to move on, and Donny should be getting his minutes.

Pogba will leave if he is still played in the deeper role in midfeild and Ole stays. Will be interesting to see the Board's reaction. They are losing a huge asset for free and will have to sign a proper midfeilder either in January or come summer.

I can see how Jose labelled him as a virus as that performance just makes fans sick.

We should let him leave this January, for any amount but am sure he will play it out to season ending.
It's useless to have someone without effort regarding their talent.

This is not an excuse for Pogba because when he is not good it's ultimately his own fault -

But I never liked Pogba Mctominay, I always thought Pogba Fred was the better midfield partnership out of that tactic.

Mctominay is very box to box like and bulky whilst Fred is more energetic and out there defensively. Pogba can use the energy of Fred than the bulkyness of Mctominay.

He's one of the reasons our midfield is shite. Being class in a handful of games does not help when he's completely shite the rest of the time.
100%. If we get a proper DM in january, we might see some consistency from Paul, if we don't, we should definitely get rid. I can't imagine what he will be like on 450k a week, putting in performances like that for another 4-5 years.

I agreed with him all along. Fergie was right all those years ago too.
Jose had him pegged also.
I'd take Rafael in midfield over him today.

Van de Beek showed more urgency in 5 minutes than Jogba did when he was playing.

Give his minutes to someone else.

that’s very true. I just want him to leave. He is a world class player? Fine, let him go somewhere and win the Ballon Dor. I do not see anything world class when he plays for us. He might have some moments of brilliance (a long range goal, a good assist) but the inconsistency is terrible. Most of the time he is below par. My main issue with him is that he is high maintenance. His wage demands are unrealistic for someone who fails to show up in most of our games. When the team is playing well, he plays well. When the team is having problems he gets upset and starts flirting with other teams. A world class player would lift his team (similar to what ronaldo does). His presence on the pitch and his body language are sometimes just too annoying to watch

We really need to stop players based on their names and reputation alone. Pogba needs to go and DVB should be given a shot in his position.

Pogba is the only player in the world who needs to be baby sat for him to perform consistently.

I'm sure working hard and actually giving a damn could work, but nah let's sign more players so maybe Pogba would finally shine.

He's a fecking waste of time and money, we should just release him in Jan and let him move to whoever offers him the most.
