I doubt it was ‘spur of the moment’, he’ll probably have been banging in a few from set pieces in training & thought to himself ‘next time I score out comes the knee slide’.

He’s there epitome of a front runner.
At the very least it is a testimony of his state of mind, he actually felt like all the criticism he received was OTT

Those split second decisions give a lot of indications regarding the player's intelligence on the pitch.
Like when he lifts his arm up for offside instead of defending (Atalanta game). He is a clown with little focus on the pitch
He panics very easily under pressure which is literally the last thing you need in a defender.

Needs to be relieved of his duties as captain the moment Ole gets sacked.

Be as harsh as you want, but if Ole gets sacked Harry may have just saved out season. We were looking good for an equaliser before he was sent off. A true captain sacrifices himself for the greater good.

How? Who’s going near him and taking his wage and transfer figure off us? I would put money on even Newcastle saying feck no to that.
He’ll be out of the team I mean. I agree, no ones coming near him for anywhere near what we paid for him. I don’t think he has anywhere near a decent reputation in the game as a whole so offloading him will come at a huge loss.

That belief is fostered by the same type that post on here that he’s ‘been great for us’. He’s been bang average, if that for long periods here. @MadDogg summed it up perfectly recently.

His playing career has mirrored OgS managerially for me. Exaggerated successes whilst ignoring the glaring flaws.

Did you hear that? that's the sound of you "proofing" your critics wrong only to be proven you're wrong one game after. Be humble slabhead. You've been shite for the club.

Hope he enjoyed his spell as captain. Because any decent new manager is giving it to somebody else, and when varane is fit maguire might not even start.

Thinks he’s so much better than he is. What the hell was he doing trying to dribble in front of his own goal. At his age he should be the finished article, but it’s clear he never fecking learns.

I'm better than Messi (even though I'm not)
We could bring in half of the Barca 09 team and they’d turn to shite given enough time under this amateur coaching setup. Embarrassing again today but Maguire, along with everyone else should be given a clean slate under the new manager.

I will forever remember Maguire for his red card, because it was the last nail in Ole's coffin. And yes, we need a new captain. Varane could be a good candidate, I believe.

You gotta love the fact that this is his first performance at United after his goal celebration against Albania. You sure showed them!

Almost like spending £80m on someone who wasn’t even Leicester’s best centre back wasn’t a great idea.

Said at the time once the price got to £40m we should have walked away, we’ve lumbered a ourselves with someone who’s decent but not good enough.

Surely first decision of next manager will be to take Captaincy off of him, he might be relieved.

The second I saw the little red card icon on my notifications, I just had an immediate "bet that's Maguire", and it was!

Just an apt way to hit rocl bottom.

However, new manager, new start.
Do not fancy the Lindelof Bailly combo v Chelsea away though. That'll be a miserable Sunday next week.

This is how I feel about him. He has an idea of the player he wants to be but his game just doesn’t follow that ideal.

He’s an overpriced oafish defender but that said he’d look better if he wasn’t playing a character every time he goes out on the pitch.

A terrible signing, & somehow an even worse leader.

I doubt he'll get a lot of chances under a European coach tbh, especially Zidane. He just isn't that good.

Shame as he actually played better than he has this season in the first half. Made some good tackles and a brilliant block. That challenge though was brain dead but I have to say I do have some sympathy for our CBs when they look up and see feck all ahead of them. We are so badly coached it hurts. I still think he has a big role to play under our next manager.

It is, but you can see why somebody would feel that way. He has been incredibly easy to dislike over the past several months.
He’s easy to dislike because he’s been shite, but 90% of the team have been right there with him. He actually played well today prior to the red. I just don’t see him as a dislikable character do I don’t get why people would hate him so much.

The worst thing Ole did this season was bring him back against Leicester when he clearly wasn't ready
The second worst was not taking him out but kept playing him

I'm not sure why ole high fived him either

That and being captain, which puts him under more scrutiny as a source of leadership/inspiration/resolve when he's not only been shite but just seems like a massive wet blanket as well.

I can understand why the fecking ear thing while playing for England against goat herders would tip people over the edge into just downright disliking him. I don't think it's too strong at all to call him an embarrassment, even amongst the rest of the current shit show.

If Phil Jones had not been made of glass he would have ended up a a far better player than Maguire.

Maguire is in a deep hole. I think we often ignore his inadequacies often blaming Lindelof when on reflection maybe it wasn't him solely. Harry has even started to make Varane look like shite. If we had paid 40m for him, we wouldn't even be a discussion, 80m we had to believe in something that simply wasn't true....

Throwing that armband just made him the most hated captain in United history. He is the beacon of Ole's failure.
