Pretty confident he will pick up form again. He was Ole out, and completely unfit. He is playing through injuries.

He is the epitome of a player that thinks they've made it and are the dog's bollocks just because they play for United. Never won anything, can't handle any criticism even when in worst form of his career, still thinks hes the shit.

Is this hyperbole really needed ffs
The fact that is is the captain is a symbol for where we've been and are as a club. You aren't supposed to be the captain a couple of months in after signing. Especially if you're shit.

I don’t think that’s true at all. Give an example? Please don’t use one celebration as an example!

Has he put out a heartfelt twitter apology yet? Absolutely horrendous performance and season but I'll let it all go and give him another chance to turn it around if he puts out a good one.

If my Nan had wheels she would have been a bike, it’s irrelevant.
Yes, but just another frustration with Utd.

Maguire's failing were obvious at Leicester, this is what people were worried about, his mobility is a serious problem. Varane is not what he was either, still better than the other 2 but he is an injury risk and will need careful handling. No long term stability in that area.

Sure but that’s irrelevant to the point you made. For what it’s worth he’s fine as a captain. Boring and uninspiring yes, but he’s a professional and has pretty much always been fit and available which are valuable traits for a captain. He deserves stick in the present for his poor performances but this hyperbole revisionism is stupid.

He went by the name of Wayne Rooney
He is a decent player but he should not be undroppable as he apparently is. Never should have spent 80m on him though, and never should have made him the captain. We can't undo the money spent, but we can at least give him some time away from the first eleven when he is in this awful form, and take away that armband.

Maguire is a decent player. Was he worth £80 million no clearly not, but he’s a good player and a big upgrade on what we had, he will be the least of our problems under a decent coach. Tuchel made worse players look far better!

I genuinely can’t think of anyone less dislikable. He just comes over as a normal lad getting to play his dream. I can’t work out all this hate based on basically nothing. This club is toxic as feck though, this is the first time it’s really clicked with me but pretty much all our best players would be better elsewhere.

Was happy to go away with England and play when he wasn't really needed though....

Saying he was getting criticised because he was the captain of United, not because he's playing shit
I think it’s quite clear from this thread that he gets more stick at Utd captain than he would in another club and that’s just a fact. I mean the fact people are saying he’s “dislikable” despite being a nice guy and true professional says it all about how toxic this fan base can be when they decide they don’t like someone.

Football is emotive. I don’t genuinely dislike him but I’ll be happy the day he leaves as he’s an absolute bluffer.

Harry always wants to play, that is our captain. If he gets a call up, he will take it. Messi did the same with Argentina. The amount of games he has played the last few years is only possible if he played through injuries, and he did, i think this is out of question. He has been pretty shit this season, no doubt, but he isnt someone that pulls out of games when called into action.

We’ll of course. He’s playing for Man United not for Hull or any other club. There’s 3 other clubs in the world where pressure is as intense and it has completely broken him.

Yeh I get that tensions and emotions are high right now but someone in this thread said he’s on the level of Di Maria, a literal snake who ran at the first sign of trouble. Christ what has Maguire done to deserve that? It will be funny though coming here in a years time under a new manager when he’s back to playing well and all these people will have swept these comments under the rug again.

Yeh maybe it has, I’d argue even if it has (can’t say that for definite under this current management) that’s not his fault and reason to hate him for. He’s clearly trying his best and whatever people say he does get Utd and what we are about.

Goes with the territory. At Leicester a lot of poor mistakes were just ignored because of low expectations and people enjoying his runs forward. Smalling and co had to up with the same.

Yeh agreed and I know it’s a given that Utd players get more scrutiny but the least some people could do is acknowledge that fact rather than jumping straight into the “I hate him” brigade.

Yeah, let's not start comparing Messi's situation to Maguire's.
He's been genuinely woeful so far this season. If you're putting it down to playing with injuries then it's incredibly daft of him to go away with England for 2 extremely easy games when he could've been recovering for 2 weeks. But y'know I'm glad United have yet again reaped the rewards today!

I would reserve my judgement until we see him under a completely different manager, that knows what he is doing and maybe not rushing players at every opportunity to save his shortcomings.

He has been bad this season, i have said it as well, but he was very good the years before. This is not something new, 90% of the caf had him under the top 10 CBs before the season. 2 bad months after the EC and under a rookie manager that rushed him back dont change that, especially when the whole team is falling apart. You guys look for scapegoats all the time. Just relax a bit and look at the bigger picture. You are only as good on here as your last 5 games.

@TrustInJanuzaj I don’t think he’s a snake and I don’t think Di Maria is particularly a bad guy either — he actually didn’t want to be here in the first place.

Maguire is getting pelters because he’s been absolutely shocking this season. Form-wise — possibly the worst CB I’ve seen at United. In fact, I’m not sure I’ve seen many worse CB’s in the whole of Premier League if we’re just taking this seasons form into account.

He goes and then cups his ears as if to say the criticism was unjustified and then gets sent off. It encapsulates Harry Maguire - our captain - and it’s embarrassing. Of course fans will be frothing at the mouth in regards to him.

I agree, we have taken a very good player and made him a shadow of his former self. That said I think a stronger character would have turned it round before now

Imagine the scenes and media meltdown if Pogba tossed the armband like Maguire did today. Makes those England performances even more laughable. Absolute fraud of a player.

Yeah, not a good look at all. In the grand scheme of things it's something that's fairly trivial. But when you factor in everything that's surrounding him at the moment, it's not good. We're an absolute shambles as a club, he's been awful this season, and as a captain you're the one who's supposed to be setting the standard. Yet he does this instead. He obviously should't be captain anyway, and that's not just based on this season.

Yep that’s fair and probably true. What I would say though is that these modern footballers are more and more like this and we have to adapt. We don’t get many Roy Keanes around these days.
