I don't understand why they didn't let them all through though, that's what the rules are? It was very strange.
Yeah I just realised they did that. Its crazy

Can somebody explain in layman’s terms what the furore is?
Only 5 lapped cars were let through (not all the lapped cars) and usually you let them get round the track to the back of the pack before the race restarts. Instead, the race director just let 5 cars through, precisely the number between Lewis and Verstappen, and then restarted the race.

That's farcical. How can he let 5 cars un-lap but not the rest? Anyone says that they haven't given the championship. This has to go to the court of sports arbitration.

Lewis had won the race until the FIA set it up so that Max was on fresh tires for one last lap right behind Lewis... Any racing driver in any formula could have won that from Max's position.

Perfect, thanks!

Officially the best poker player on RAWK.
I mean, in the end they made the right decision. Why they originally announced that lapped cars won't be allowed to overtake is anyone's guess.
I don't think they made the right decision though. They made the decision that would allow that last lap showdown to happen.

For the drama yes, but for fairness no. And that's the problem with F1 and why it doesn't hold attention when they get it, there's just too much off track shite that ruins the actual sport.

Fair fecks to Max though, he's champion. I hope he becomes likeable and doesn't continue for the next 10 years being a prick like Hamilton has been.

His team made poor decisions not pitting him but that ending made any decision pointless. Mercedes were screwed there with very poor decision making. To have a final lap with those behind not being able to overtake would have been the fairer choice. To allow them to move aside, placing Lewis and Max (with fresh tyres) besides eachother was grossly unfair.
No, they've made terrible strategic decisions all season and were bailed out by Lewis being the best driver on the grid.

They should have pitted during the VSC and they would have won this race easily.

I’m happy for Max. He’s a great driver albeit very aggressive. He’s been scintillating all year too. I am most upset that Horner gets to win. He’s a total dick.

But are lapped card usually allowed to overtaken the sc or not?

I heard firewoeks going of in the Street. Every body loved F1 now. Were such a silly country.

 don’t be ridiculous. RB played a blinder. Not their fault the decisions played in their favour. Merc are the ones who should be embarrassed. They fecked it for Hamilton.
It was purely the crash that did it. If Hamilton went on softs and lost race position and there had been no crash, he’d still have lost. Unless everyone knew there’d be a crash on the 52nd lap beforehand. Mercedes’ strategy was perfect if there’d been no crash.

Bit of a joke finish, are they allowed to only allow the cars inbetween to un lap? If they have to let them all then surely this will be contested.

What a joke. I so, so hoping one of my 'old' favourites would finally pull off an unbelievable feat after Federer failed so many times against Djokovic but I was dreading some bullshit until the end.

Bloody hell, what a pathetic decision.

Did the FIA just force the last lap to become competitive? Why was Verstappen suddenly behind Hamilton?
Yeah, I think they thought it would be great to have the season long marathon finally get decided on a sprint, flexing on a few rules

FIA won them this Championship. Been in Red Bulls pocket all season how could Lewis compete against that?

Well done Verstappen. Great driver no end of talent but this Championship will always have an asterisks on it.
Really? Merc has got so many bullshit decisions that helped them this season as well.
