Either that or hoping that by the time the enquiry comes out something else has happened to divert attention (though that seems unlikely at the moment)
Oh, without a doubt. Or maybe we'll all get free hats or something? Totally not a bribe or anything like that...

Doubt there'll be anything major happening before the official report is released.

Tories will want to make sure that, if BoJo does go, he carries as much of the blame for this as possible so not to damage their next in command.

I look forward to forgetting all about this by next weekend, along with the rest of the UK.

Most Tory voters would still vote for him. He could stand in front of number 10 and shoot someone and the Tory voters would still find a way to excuse his behaviour.
Nothing will come of this enquiry, he will be found not breaking any rules and he will stand up in Parliament with his smirk and say “I told you so”

True, the way people talk about him is often far more endearing than it ought to be. I suspect people buy into the chummy image he's created even in spite of these fiascos.

Senior Tory Christopher Chope told the same programme he had "never heard such an abject apology" during his long years in Parliament, and he believed it was "genuinely sincere".
He said: "I think the prime minister showed contrition and had realised he had done the wrong thing in not intervening at the time.
HE. WAS. AT. THE. CNUTING. PARTY.

The problem isn't that he didn't stop it. The problem is that he joined it, and then lied about there being any parties when asked by journalists at a later date.

The way his party always try to change the narrative is a total piss take. And all the shite about how it's only fair to wait for the "independent" inquiry would hold more weight if others hadn't walked for doing the same thing that Boris did.

I look forward to forgetting all about this by next weekend, along with the rest of the UK.
I'm waiting for the Daily Mail to release a video of Boris dancing on a marquee in the garden, topless, with a karaoke mic singing "Feck the Police".

He's save this time but I think there's a big story yet to come and that'll finish him.

They must really think he's on the brink if they're being this desperate...

Scum Media was trending when the story broke and the comments from people were we don’t care about wallpapers and parties, the press are focusing on the wrong thing. It’s a cult just as they were for Trump.

The real problem was that he got caught out to the degree that he could no longer deny it. And in reality, that was what he was apologising for.
If he was really sorry, then why wait until now.

There has been a conservative majority for 4 of the last 25 years would be their argument I would guess?
We've had a Conservative government for 11 years would be a rational counter point to that.

The moment we got a large Conservative majority, things have got alot worse!

Sacking Cummings and Cain was terrible for him. Poor guy has his balls in a vice from Carrie.

(I'd say the cnut should resign, but it's coming anyway. If he gets through this there'll be another leak in 2-4 weeks to bury him further. The fecker had the cheek to extoll the governments record on the pandemic. He's done a fecking terrible job at that too.)

It would also hold more weight if the last person appointed to investigate the parties wasn’t found to be also partying.

I expect Boris will cling on but it is getting pretty bad for him.

Makes me wonder though, who is leaking all of this stuff in such a gradual and damaging way? Is it the “‘men in grey suits” from his own party trying to get rid of him? Or is this Dom’s revenge? Or just the woke snowflake media?

Probably a combination of the party and Dominic Cummings. I heard on the radio the other day that there is another hour (or more) of footage from the mock q&a from the briefing from that the media are sitting on and I would guess that the same goes with the downing street parties plus whatever other dirt they have on him....

 it's amazing isn't it? Made even better that the current person leading the investigation was instructing her staff on how to avoid Freedom of Information requests and instructs people to double delete things, also not keeping a record of what she has deleted as per guidance.

So, TOTALLY legitimate.

I didn't realise that Michael Gove's ministerial title literally includes "Levelling Up"

They're a party of soundbites.

Check out this parody headline guys...oh wait it's real:

Also this must be the lowest the Conservatives have been at in years:
